Santa Cruz Organics Crunchy Dark Roasted Peanut Butter, 16 oz

Let me clear up all the misinformation. This review is for Santa Cruz Organic Crunchy Dark Roasted Peanut Butter. The ingredients are two: Organic roasted peanuts and a tiny bit of salt. There is no palm oil in this product. If people say that in their review, they are utterly lying or can't read properly and posted a review for a completely different product (SC no-stir pb). This is super good peanut butter with a perfect crunchy consistency. It tastes very rich with a deep flavor. I buy this regularly and absolutely love it. If you don't like the idea of oil separating out from the peanut, this is not for you. I buy this for health and taste, so I don't mind having to stir the heck out of it before putting it into the fridge. Some people just put the jar under their mixer and stir it on a low speed -if you did that, it would come out a similar consistency to how you get it from the health food store when you push the machine button and it turns peanuts into butter on the spot. I do it by hand, which will give you a good work out; however, you only need to do it once and then put in the fridge -it will remain mixed when it becomes cold. So, this product is not for people who want something that stirs easily and plan to slather on a slice of Wonder bread. In that case, if you don't mind sustainable organic palm oil, you can buy their no-stir version of the creamy or crunchy regular or dark roasted. As long as you aren't going to blow a gasket at having to stir your pb and your main goal isn't to use it on soft bread, I highly recommend you buy it and try it. I'm doing keto... so I eat it by the spoonful or on a wasa cracker. Would be great to eat on celery, apples, in smoothies, in recipes, etc. If you want to be decadent, do like me and put a teaspoon atop two big squares of 90% Lindt dark chocolate and you have an instant keto Reese's pb cup that only cost you about 70 cents to make. To me, it tastes amazing. It is also very filling and I eat anywhere from one teaspoon up to two tablespoons a day most days. It keeps me from being hungry and is nutritious. : )

I eat low carb. Staying away from sweets is my hardest hurdle. I found a recipe for no bake cookie with peanut butter, unsweetened coconut, coco powder and sweetener of choice. It's killer!!! Finding the right peanut butter that tasted good and didn't have to mortgage my house was a trick. I got this and first thing I did was stir it up really well and popped it in the door of my fridge. Now when I get it out it's mixed up. It stays mixed yet it's spreadable right away. It doesn't get hard and it doesn't separate. This stuff is great!!! Don't throw your money down the drain looking for another brand. This stuff is the only one I will ever buy again. I got both chunky and smooth. Nowadays the price paid for the good stuff (Santa Cruz organic peanut butter) isn't much more than generic peanut butter. Go for it! If you need it to be a bit sweeter all you have to do is put a few drops of your favorite liquid sweetener in it...or regular granulated or powdered sweetener. I find swerve brown sugar substitute is super good mixed in. Yummy.

Lately, I am a sucker for reading the ingredients. I recently bought Justin's classic peanut butter. However, it didn't really taste very peanutty. After taking a closer look at the ingredients list, I saw palm oil as the second ingredient. After tasting it again I recognize that this was what I was tasting. I started reading the peanut butter labels. I came across this brand. Santa Cruz peanut butter is nothing but dry roasted peanuts. It tastes just like the old fashioned peanut butter without all of the peanut oil. It is probably the best peanut butter I have ever had. I probably gained a little weight because I loved it so much. I am about to purchase again. On a massive plus side, it is organic and it is snap eligible. Price compares to other brands that are loaded with palm oil, added peanut oil, and of course the ever-present sugar that is added to too many things. My peanut butter holy grail!

Santa Cruz hit the sweet spot with making a flavorful peanut butter with just the right amount of crunch/texture and size of the nuts, as well as not too much/too little salt. If I HAD to gripe about something, it would be if Santa Cruz would provide just a WEE bit more space in the jar so that the product could be easily stirred without the oil overflowing over the lip of the jar so easily during this process. Otherwise, what's not to love? :)

Honestly, with a dark roasted nut butter I was hoping for a deeper flavor. Additionally, the separation on this product is almost total. After refrigerating and stirring vigorously with a wide spade I still can't get it to consistently come together. It's almost 50% oil at delivery and despite multiple tries I still cant get it to completely de-clump like all of the other peanut butters I've dealt with (i.e. Laura Scudder's, Costco Organic, etc). However, I’ve found that it’s really an ideal peanut butter for dessert use as the roasted notes pair well with sweet flavor profiles.

Am confused by some of the reviews stating the peanut butter contains palm oil, etc. No, it doesn't. It's strictly organic peanuts. It's delicious. Yes, you have to stir it. This is how real peanut butter works. And that oil? It's peanut oil. If you want a healthful, delicious peanut butter, Santa Cruz is it. I stock up, and eat it with apples and other fruit. It's a fantastic protein source, and a great snack.

WE LOVE THIS PEANUT BUTTER! Honestly, it is SO UNIQUE! If you like Peanut Butter, you will LOVE this Crunchy Dark Roasted Peanut Butter. The taste is SO robust and delicious! I love that it is organic and we adore all the crunchy nuts that are packed into this jar! If you try it, you will be hooked like we were. My husband always asks for this brand now!
