My favorite kalimba
I've owned several kalimbas, including (but not limited to) a black walnut 21 key Lingting, the black walnut 21 key Hluru, and the hollow 21 key Moozica with the hole at the bottom. These are all quality kalimbas, but this MOOZICA 21 Keys Solid Koa Kalimba is my favorite 21 key Kalimba. In fact, since buying it, I've given the others away. Except for the Lingting - that one is still waiting for a good home. All of these kalimbas produce beautiful tones, so for me, it came down to comfort and aesthetics. My Lingting is an attractive instrument with dark, matte wood, and it produces beautiful sound, but it has a thick, heavy body with sharp edges. It won't cut you, but I don't like the feel of it in my hands. The edges of the body should have been softened more. The tines are comfortable to pluck, but not engraved. I really prefer when kalimbas are engraved with both letters and numbers. The Hluru is comfortable to hold and has superior sustain on the high notes, but while I wouldn't call it UGLY, I don't find it especially appealing visually. The biggest problem for me, with this kalimba, is that the tines are excessively curved. The curvatures are not uniform, and some of the tines are unevenly bent. In practice, this means that some of the tines are slightly longer or shorter than they should be, and although the kalimba is properly tuned, having the length of the tines being off even slightly trips me up while playing. The hollow Moozica is much larger and thicker than the others. I thought, with it being hollow, it would be lighter weight than the flatboards, but although I haven't actually weighed it, it feels heavier and blocky. The wood is beautiful, and it is very sturdy, but its size and weight make it tiring to hold because I have very small hands. On low notes it creates a wonderful "wah wah" effect when moved against the body while playing, but that isn't as noticeable on higher notes. In fact, some of the higher notes sound sort of muffled. Not stiff or dead - I think it is just the acoustics of the design, but I'm not wild about it. So overall, this flatboard Moozica is the winner. The sound is lovely. Its rounded bottom, gorgeous color, and high gloss finish make it a beautiful instrument. It feels the lightest, although that may just be due to how well it is balanced, and as the thinnest of my kalimbas, it is the easiest to hold. The tines are engraved with both letters and numbers, they are uniform and easy to pluck. The tines themselves are smooth on the top and sides, so glissandos are easy to play - they don't feel sharp like they sometimes do on cheaper kalimbas. I'm in love with this kalimba.

Wonderful
Beautiful construction, wonderful sound, easy to hold. The basic learning book very helpful. Tuning is a little bit challenging. Overall itโs a joy to use and listen too and relaxing sound.

Quality
Gorgeous and high quality. Soft to hold due to the curves. Feels and has the aesthetic of a miniature violin or cello, which is part of why I chose this one over say a Lingting. Another big factor is the Koa Acacia wood which produces a great sustain and deeper sound. I also feel like the subtle curve of the wood might add to the sound somehow. Chain is still as others say, perhaps too short, in fact it can't wrap around the back of the kalimba over the top, the wood is wider than the chain. The very end tines seem to be either quite silent or it may be my own inexperience. Hard to say if they're "dead" or if it's normal. They do produce the correct tones, but you have to tap them 5x harder than the more central tines, to get any volume or sound at all. Will retune to F or G anyway, probably helps. Overall greatly recommend it for those like me, that wanted to get into this but with something that feels and looks more like a concert style instrument as opposed to just a square matte box or a cat face shaped acrylic one. Everything came included as described.

Great built and sound
So this being my fist kalimba, I am more that satisfied with the product I got. The over all built is sturdy and the wood finish is well made. In my case the instrument was also tune correctly from the get go, so I was able to start tinkering with it out of the box. The kalimbas tune is fine but warm which is pleasant to my ears. I appreciate that the instrument comes with markings to help new comers like myself identify the notes, but I would have liked that the marking were painted as the engraving tend to get lost in the reflections. Additionally the there is an app that the manual recommends to use for tuning the instrument, but I could not find it. So, the manual ether need to be up dated or imprinted with a QR code for the app. I am sure that any other tuning app will do if I end up needing one on the future. Oher than that this product is high quality and an instrument I will find myself playing to chill and relax. It seem to be a very easy instrument to pick up.

Amazing sound, easy on the thumbs
My new Moozica 21 key koa wood flat board kalimba has the most amazing rich and resonant sound. For a flat board kalimba, the volume is outstanding. It nearly rivals a hollow kalimba. The tines are bent at the perfect angle to make them feel almost "soft" against my thumbs, as I play. My kalimba came properly tuned to F. All tines resonated well, even the highest D and E on the side edges. The instrument is so balanced that weight is no factor. I find it less taxing on my wrists than my Gecko hollow 17 key kalimba. In fact, I gave the Gecko to my daughter because she prefers a hollow kalimba, and I am so in love with my new Moozica that I won't be playing anything else, anyway. Lovely, lovely instrument! Worth every penny. NOTE: The first Moozica 21 key koa wood kalimba I ordered came properly tuned, but with the G tine hanging a full 1/4" lower than the F tine. It should never have left the factory, since that too-low hanging tine prevents proper play. But I loved everything else about it. So I returned the defective kalimba, and ordered the one I have now. I am so glad I did. This may have been a one time oversight, since my replacement kalimba and the one my daughter ordered were flawless. But just in case, I wanted to mention it, so no one else keeps a kalimba that is less than perfect. This company is capable of making an outstanding kalimba - make sure you get one up to standard.

Such a beautiful instrument!
Just got mine, and really impressed by the quality. The wood is smoothly finished, feels great in the hands, and shows off the natural grains. The solid slab of wood makes it much heavier than hollow-bodied karimbas, but while a little less loud, it makes a much sweeter sound that I just LOVE. The 4 extra low notes on the 21-note model (as compared to the more common 17-note karimba) gives so much possibilities in playing songs without always having to transpose up... It's also very well thought out to include the tremolo chain, AND to have the attachment rings pre-installed:-) Thank you Moozica! I want to mention a few little things that IMHO could be improved upon, but they are not worth deducting any stars: 1. The included case doesn't have foam inserts cut out to fit the karimba, which would have offered better protection and helped keeping the tines in tune (mine arrived with the highest tines on both sides knocked inwards, and had to be straightened out and re-tuned). 2. The etched logo is a nice touch, but I feel that having just a clean logo graph without also writing out the brand name (they are in big letters, in dark ink, and smack in the middle) would have been much classier aesthetically.

Pleasant Kalimba to Handle
It sounds like a music box more than the ones with resonating chambers, which I wanted. It feels ergonomic in the hands due to the rounded edges, and I like that the notes are engraved into the tines. I have had mine for several years, and it still works fine. It is my go-to instrument when I am sick and cannot think or tolerate loud noises.

An excellent pleasure!
Love it! This is my third Moozica kalimba. The other two have sound boxes. This one without a sound box is slightly quieter than those, so I play it in locations where I donโt want to make too much noiseโlike at work during my breaks or while Iโm pondering. Iโm not even an amateur musician. I just make stuff up for fun or to get mellowโlots of made up complex repetitions usually. 21 keys is a must. I definitely want those four lower notes. I gave away one 17 key kalimba I had, but I still have another one from a different brand that I changed from a C to a G tuning. At the moment, Moozica seems to be producing only a couple types of kalimbas. They make excellent kalimbas and I hope they get back to a wider assortment. The touch and feel of their kalimbas is wonderful. Very nice wood finish and great tines. The Koa Acacia is a beautiful wood. I made my attached video (at home) partly to show the difference in volume between this solid wood kalimba and one of my Moozica sound box kalimbas. Iโve had the other kalimba for years (and havenโt been taking proper care of the tines!). Moozica doesnโt make that one with the sound hole on the bottom anymore, unfortunately. Itโs actually my favorite kalimba. I play it at home every day. I get so much pleasure from plucking away in my own musical arrangements.

Very good quality, easy to learn, beautiful sound!
I am more than happy with this kalimba! The Kalimba comes in a big package with a case, extra supplies and a little surprise (which I will not tell :) ). My boyfriend and I were both very excited and immediately started to practice in turns. In the package there is also a small booklet in which the key combinations for a few simple songs can be found. After a while we tried to play Kalimba songs on Youtube (e.g. Yiruma - "River flows in you", listen to short Video). The quality of the kalimba is really convincing. The sound of the instrument is very lovely and the mahogany wood feels so nice! When you play notes, you feel the gentle vibration of the beautiful wood. I can imagine that it creates a wonderful atmosphere when you have the Kalimba with you on a walk through nature and you play some nice songs during the picnics. :) I am very very happy and I am looking forward to learn more songs on it!

Sounds great
Beautiful sound. Use to play guitar until I lost a third of each finger on my left hand. Played 30 years. Loving music and missing my guitar I thought Iโd give this a go. I can play it easily with my stubs. Looks good, great price. Came tuned and holds tune as expected.
