Razer BlackShark V2 Gaming Headset: THX 7.1 Spatial Surround Sound - 50mm Drivers - Detachable Mic - for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S - 3.5mm Audio Jack & USB DAC - Black

I got these for working remotely, the goal was to give myself a more portable option that an XLR condenser mic with a separate USB audio interface and a scissor arm. Something I could tote around with a laptop. The Razer Blackshark V2 delivers. The audio quality on the mic is acceptable with the caveat that I spent hours in the Razer Synapse program tweaking the settings and trying to find some combination of options that I could live with. Now, I think I still sound VERY tinny compared to my more professional dekstop audio setup, but for the price, mobility, and comfort I have found these are capable of producing acceptable microphone audio quality. The biggest problem I ran into is that the mic on the Blackshark V2 doesn't pick up lower tones as clearly as higher ones, and apparently my voice is on the low side. At least I had the option to tweak the settings because before getting the Blackshark V2 I had tried the Razer Kraken V3, and there is no fixing the audio that headset produces. Those were my second Razer product ever and my first Razer headset, I was shocked they put their name on something that shoddy. If Razer hadn't been having a sale that made their products an attractive price at the time I'd never have given their headsets the time of day ever again. The comfort on these is fairly good, nothing extraordinary to me but I usually take meetings and listen to music through audiophile quality headphones and I often put custom earpads on them, so my standards are very high. These certainly exceed what I would normally expect from comfort in a set of headphones at this pricepoint, but I find them to be less comfortable than your average Sennheiser headphones. The cups are a bit more shallow with the default cups and rest closer to my ear than I would like. Replacement pads are at the top of my shopping list for these, though I do like the breathable jersey material on the outside of them. The audio quality is acceptable. I honestly haven't even considered using these to listen to music or play games, and in meetings I have much lower expectations for the audio quality others bring to the table than I do for myself. But at no point has the audio quality jumped out to me as being bad. I ran a quick 3 track audio test just now and they're very bright sounding, which is to say these seem better tuned to produce higher frequencies than lower ones. They don't spark joy in my inner audiophile, but they're not bad either. This is acceptable audio. A sound that I think most people will find agreeable unless they're especially bass hungry. For those of you who are Dankpods fans I can offer an excellent frame of reference, you can barely hear the bongo player going off in Earth, Wind, & Fire's "September" with these. One notable feature that I've not encountered before (because I have gone out of my way to avoid using headsets) but really appreciated is the sidetone. I don't like closed back headphones and stick to open backs unless I'm listening to music in a public place. And I REALLY hate talking with closed backs headphones because I can't hear myself and I feel like I'm yelling. The sidetone option these offer takes in and plays ambient noise back to me so that I can hear myself and the world around me in real time. It may seem like a silly thing to want but for those of you who feel the same as myself I can promise this is a LOVELY feature to have.

Let me start by saying: I bought this headset thinking I’d just get slightly better sound and maybe stop annoying my friends with my old potato-quality mic. What I didn’t expect was to emerge from my first game with it like I’d been granted the ears of a cybernetic owl. Seriously, this thing has THX Spatial Audio. I can now hear footsteps, whispers, and, like never before. I didn’t even know how much I’d been missing until I threw these on and realized every prior headset I owned was basically two tin cans and a string. Sound quality? Unreal. The 50mm Triforce Titanium drivers handle highs, mids, and lows like a pro DJ mixing beats in your brain. Explosions boom, dialogue is crisp, and footsteps? Oh buddy, you’ll be spinning in your chair because you’ll hear them behind you before they get you. I’ve gone full try-hard mode since getting this. My KD ratio thanks me. Comfort-wise, this is the first headset I’ve worn for 5+ hours without getting swamp ears or a headache. The ear cushions are infused with cooling gel, which sounds like marketing fluff, but let me tell you, it works. My ears stayed cool through an all-night Destiny raid and a very heated Mario Kart showdown with my partner (who now refuses to play with me while I have this on because “you can hear the shells coming”). Mic quality? Chef’s kiss. The HyperClear Cardioid Mic is detachable, but I keep it on because I like sounding like I’m broadcasting from a professional studio. Friends on Discord have commented that I finally sound like a human and not a dial-up modem trying to become sentient. It comes with a USB sound card that unlocks THX features for PC users (Windows 10 only), but even without it, the 3.5mm jack works great across platforms. I’ve tested it on PC, Switch, and even my phone (because why not listen to Apple Music in hi-fi luxury while walking my dog?). Bottom line: This headset made me realize two things: 1. I’ve been missing out on what “good audio” really means. 2. I'll never go back to budget headsets again. If you're a gamer, streamer, or just someone who wants to hear the game world as if you’ve stepped into it—buy this. Your ears, your teammates, and probably your killstreaks will thank you. I also bought one for my girlfriend after using it for the past few years and she also loves it. Amazing gift for pc gamers!

Okay! So I did my research on mid budget headphones for gaming. The ones I looked at ranged from $50-150. I looked at gaming brands like Razer, Logitech, HyperX and studio level brands like Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, and AudioTechnica. As far as sound quality, high/lows, surround sound, and spatial audio the studio brands win every time but for a higher price point and usually minus an integrated mic. If you're big into streaming/music I'd recommend the studio level headsets with a stand alone mic. You can buy a mod mic for most studio brands but I didn't want the extra purchase on top of a more expensive headset. So I continued my research with gaming brands. I own a pair of HyperX Cloud II's and love them for at home gaming but are simplistic in build. I wanted another pair for travel that still met the quality of studio level headphones. Logitech and HyperX have great mid budget headphones but lacked the spatial audio in the cheaper models I wanted for games like Hunt: Showdown which is extremely audio heavy and requires 7.1 surround sound. I turned to Razer as my final option which I honestly avoided due to their popularity and increasing price. I'd definitely call Razer the Apple of the gaming community since you're paying for the name, reliability, and consistency of their products. I have to co-workers that recommended the BlackShark V2 headset. I verified with my own eyes the WIRED headset has a 3.5 mm jack for the new Xbox controllers. I loved the detachable mic for travel, a mutable button on the left ear, and and volume control knob for quick adjustments. The comfortability is amazing and on par with my Cloud II's which I can wear all day. The mic is sturdy and clear. The Spatial Audio is night and day compared to a $20 headset off Amazon. They are easy to adjust and durable for travel needs. ***IMPORTANT NOTE*** There is a difference between the BlackShark V2 and thr BlackShark V2 THX. I got the sound card THX model to which I found out from Razer customer service that the Razer THX Synapse application IS NOT FREE.... This application allows you to tweak your audio levels for your personal needs. It's a one time fee of $20. But if you claim ignorance to Razer customer service like I did because I really didn't know they will give you a one time 50% off code. The regular BlackShark V2 7.1 comes with the free software. The difference between the two?? Apparently, the THX software is their version of "premium audio software"... Anyway! I love this headset and highly recommend it for your travel gaming needs. I bought a used "very good" condition one for $30 and have had zero issues. Hope this review helped someone! ***8/30/22 Update*** Unfortunately, after using this headset for 2 months the spatial audio just isn't where I need it to be. The 7.1 surround sound doesn't do anything for in game audio detection even with Razers Premium audio THX program. Picked up some a Phillips and AudioTechnica headsets.

I do not play games often, and actually only play one......the greatest game of all time.....Halo. I am bias as this game came out during my college days, so it holds a lot of sentimental and nostalgic value. This headset is EXTREMELY light and comfortable, about half the weight of my Audio Technica Studio Wireless headphones. I can't believe the difference this makes in comfort. At first I thought they felt cheap due to the weight, but totally understand now why they are so light. The sound is incredible, and the PC app "Synapse" helps boost my non gaming computer to where it can run Halo with the basic graphics turned on. My computer actually says it can't run the game due to the listed graphics requirements, but allows me to override the warnings and play it anyway. It works well with no stuttering and audio from the headphones are amazing. The spacial effects are great. As a comparison, I was using the audio t wireless headphones before with the purchased dolby atmos app for PC. Atmos is good, but the included THX sound card via the included USB drive is better. I will warn any older users out there like me it does take a little learning on setting up the audio on your pc, but its not too difficult and worth the effort. I highly recommend these, especially for the price. I purchased an open box set for under 50 bucks which was a no brainer in hindsight. I also now use them to watch Netflix movies as well, and have more or less replaced my audio t wireless set as my go to's. Get these, you won't regret it unless you are a super serious top level gaming aficionado with the best gaming equipment available. You still may not regret it if you are, I just have no way to compare as my hardware is geared towards design drawings and engineering type software packages. Cheers.

The sound is as good as headsets costing double. The mic is decent. It's not a studio mic but it is good for gaming and you will not be getting complaints from the squad or hate from opponents due to how you sound in game. The ear cushions are large and very comfortable. Coming from fake leather these are drastically cooler and comfortable for long sessions. The included usb dac and 7.1 surround sound are great for games where you want to pick up the direction and distance of those footsteps/gunshots etc. I've only ever used it with my pc and I've been super happy with the comfort and sound quality provided for less than $100. Edit; So it's been a year and I'm happy to report that still love this inexpensive headset just as much as I did after purchase. It's still working 100%, it shows zero wear its still cool and comfy and the thx surround is still incredible in games. I'm regularly hearing sounds and precisely calling out directions my teammates cannot. I have a freind that has a much more ecoensive headset and he's constantly adjusting his mic and struggling to hear directionally. The Blackshark is incredible at its price point.

This is the king of headsets. Do not be fooled by the 100$ price point of this headset. As a competitive gamer, I need every edge I can get over my opponent. This headset does not disappoint. I have tried multiple headsets over $200 and they could not compete in the same league as this headset. I will list all the things I love most down below in order of importance: 1.) sound quality - best bang for the buck here. Punchy bass, extremely accurate directional audio (this is the first headset used where I have been able to kill enemies with my eyes closed). This headset gets very loud, no need to worry about missing any enemy footfalls. For music, this headset sounds better than my beats. You can hear every layer of sound and will be fully immersed in music 2.) Mic clarity - I have never been more impressed by a headset’s mic. I come in crystal clear over any and all chats. Clear enough to stream with or record YouTube videos, I don’t know how they did it but Razr killed it with this mic. 3.) Price - This should be factor number one as far as I’m concerned. I still cannot get over the fact I paid $100 for this engineering marvel. I have tried multiple headsets over the $200 price point and this one is the king. Everything you could ever want in a headset and more. 4.) Comfort - this is by far the most comfortable headset I’ve ever worn, it weighs almost nothing and sits like a cloud on my head. I can wear this for eight hours or more comfortably with glasses. This is officially the first time I’ve ever been able to say this about any headset. Flawless design here. After going through multiple more expensive headsets, I finally settled on the Razr Blackshark V2. Other products I tried: Steelseries Arctic 9x - DO NOT BUY THIS ATROCITY HyperX Cloud Revolver S - Fell apart within a year Both of these $200+ headsets have far inferior audio quality. I have used expensive Astros and Tritons as well. They can produce similar audio quality, albeit being twice the price and twice as heavy and thus uncomfortable. As an IT guy who handles calls, I use this headset for work as well and couldn’t be happier. Hardcore gamer, audiophile, or phone support - stop shopping around, this is the headset for you.

My boyfriend has been using the same pair of Turtle Beach's for 6 years, They work but there is little comfort, poor sound and the pleather ear muffs are peeling terribly. I compared headset prices and ratings for a while before getting him these. Simple setup and install with the included flash drive and the Expected computer restart after download and the program was working immediately. My boyfriend had fun changing his audio settings and boosting the bass. However, there is a known issue with the spatial sound option that completely flips the left and right. There isn't any solution as of right now until Razer fixes this. So right now my bf is content just turning the spatial setting off until then. The headset is so comfortable but since this headset has fabric earmuffs, we will have to buy covers to keep it clean from sweat. Hopefully they will last him a long time, but only time will tell!

The headphones are super comfortable. I can wear them for 8 hours and have no discomfort. The ear pieces breathe well. They dont get hot. The mic is no good though. Sounds muffled and low. I ended up using my 9$ stand alone desk mic that sounds leagues better. All in all im happy because i needed the headphone function the most. If you need a good mic too might want to get a diff headset. UPDATE I have to give these 5 stars even with a lacking mic. The comfort is amazing. Theyre just tight enough but not so much its annoying. I can wear them for 8 hrs plus with no discomfort. The ear pads breathe very well! My ears dont get hot at all no matter how long i wear them.

I've used cheap $30-$40 headphones my entire life. This is my first more expensive pair and I LOVE them. Great sound quality, the mic is solid, and the passive noise cancellation is really good. I just need to get used to it because I talk a lot louder than I need to when on Discord. They're super comfortable, surprisingly light enough to wear them for hours and still feel comfortable. Build quality feels sturdy with a little heft, but not heavy enough to be uncomfortable, whatsoever. I really like that the volume wheel has a small click when reaching the midpoint, so you don't have to guess. Really nice touch. I was to able to plug and play immediately. Once I plugged it into my computer I was prompted to download some Razer software, which was super easy to setup and took a few minutes to learn. One thing I don't fully get the purpose of is THX Spatial Audio. It sounds noticeably worse than when it's off, but maybe I don't fully get the purpose yet. I'll update this review if I get it to work properly, but for now, I keep it off. In terms of product quality, it feels like a high-quality pair of headphones. I'm not an audiophile by any means but I absolutely love how these feel and sound. The ear cushions don't trap sweat or heat and honestly just feel great after long gaming sessions. The Synapse app has a lot of options, an equalizer, and various presets like Movie, Game, and Music. Just the Default preset is great already. Music sounds really good, when consuming media like Youtube videos, or Netflix, the headphones sound great and I can't complain. Overall these are quite amazing headphones. I highly recommend getting them if you have something higher quality than the typical "budget headphones." It's definitely worth the price. Definitely a great buy. Hope it can last me a year or two, AT LEAST.

Purchased at 124 SGD. Good sound and mic quality at this price. Razer SW provides quite some mic tuning. The compare video can be found on YT, actual experience is close to those review. I personally choose V2 over V2 X cuz I'm particular on the wire material so I pay the extra. But TBH I think if your budget is right at the 130 SGD, V2 X is better for value. Also if your head is bigger than average people, this headset should be the most comfortable one to put on, compare to HyperX, Logitech equivalents. The design is not that aesthetic, per se, but its mechanics does allow for low pressure on your head. For someone play games for more than 3~4hrs a day, comfort can be important. The only thing I felt unsatisfied is that although the mic is great on this headset(if you use dedicated sound card), the bundled usb sound card compresses it too much that it just become mediocre. I wish they didn't cut cost at this part otherwise it would be an unbeatable choice for the price.

Primero que nada, me gustaría aclarar que los audífonos llegaron antes de lo esperado aun con la pandemia actual y llegaron bien sellados, bien protegidos y en excelentes condiciones. Yo he comprado con Razer en repetidas ocasiones en otras paginas y a diferencia de muchos, jamas me han decepcionado y siempre he quedado satisfecho con sus productos, lo digo en serio. Ya he usado estos audífonos anteriormente por aproximadamente una semana (prestados) y me decidí a comprarlos así que llego el momento de revisar mis propios audífonos. Los pros: -Empezaré por decir que la calidad es estupenda y son muy estéticos a mi gusto -El tacto y acabado de los audífonos los hace sentir de calidad premium a un precio relativamente barato -El software para darlos de alta en computadora es automático, funciona muy bien, rápidamente la computadora los detecto e instalo el controlador de tarjeta de sonido para su uso y así ha sido ya en dos dispositivos diferentes, sin problema alguno para compatibilizarlos. -Sabes cuando están prendidos porque se ilumina un led de color verde en la tarjeta de sonido que contiene el empaque por defecto (no integrada dentro de los propios audífonos, si no que es un dispositivo independiente con entrada jack de 3.5 mm) que no molesta en lo absoluto y ni estorba para nada pero sirve para que sepas cuando los dejas conectados. -No pesan mucho y son muy muy cómodos, cubren todo el oído y no apachurran o lastiman la oreja por lo que los puedes tener mucho tiempo puestos sin problema, yo los uso alrededor de 8 horas diarias para mis clases virtuales. -Son amortiguados eso ayuda a la comodidad. -Se oyen increíblemente bien tanto en recepción como el micrófono, que de hecho no detecta para nada la estática de fondo como hacían otros de mis audífonos al charlar por videoconferencias o en simples juegos, literalmente te los pones y te olvidas de ruidos exteriores molestos y que distraigan, claro que si lo que quieres es estar pendiente de tu entorno solo tienes que usar el regulador de volumen incluido en los audífonos así como su silenciador de micrófono manual en la parte trasera inferior del mismo sin tener que hacerlo pro medio de software. -Una cosa similar a la anterior es que tienen sobre el auricular un control de volumen independiente al de la computadora en su mezclador de volumen, por lo que, si hay alguien no tiene bien ajustado el audio o el sonido es muy estridente para diversos programas , puedes bajar el volumen fácilmente sin mover el de la computadora. Costaron unos 500 pesos mexicanos mas que los demás de la red con especificaciones similares, pero de verdad que estos audífonos merecen la inversión. Los contras: -El cable es un poco largo para mi y el hecho de tener que enrollarlo a veces me molesta ya que no se cuando necesitare un cable tan grande o tan pequeño. -Son demasiado llamativos para los gatos (lo digo por experiencia), así que si tienes alguno en casa, es mejor dejarlos fuera de su alcance Si soy sincero, para un usuario promedio como yo, que disfruta de escuchar música, jugar FPS tanto en Xbox como en PC y necesita de vez en cuando asistir a alguna videoconferencia, los considero unos audífonos perfectos para su PRECIO y en comparación a la competencia que se encuentran rondando los 2500 a 3500 pesos mexicanos, mas que nada por el nivel de software que manejan. Si alguien sabe donde puedo encontrar el codigo de activación de Razer 7.1 surround sound o si siquiera viene incluido con este modelo de audífonos, hagamelo saber comentando aquí mismo, por favor.
