After adding gypsum to my soil I later decided I'd created more problems. I just didn't have my soil analyzed first. The article recommends using compost for lawns and using gypsum only for commercial purposes. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Q: What is the calcium content of the product? I can't read Guaranteed Analysis on the side of the bag very well.

This is what the Guaranteed Analysis in the back of the bag shows: Calcium Sulfate 68%, Calcium Dihydrate 86%, Calcium 20%+, Sulfur 16%+

Q: what is difference between oyster shell and Gypsum? both are same calcium?

The difference is the source, oyster shells vs. gypsum dug out of the ground. Both are calcium and can be used the same way.

Q: why wouldn't I use gypsum?

Blossom end rot (BER) is an indication of a calcium deficiency. If you don't have BER, then no need to use gypsum or any other source of calcium. If you do have BER, adding a little gypsum can help solve the problem if, however, you're not over watering. Too much water can block absorption of calcium and other nutrients, and can cause BER.
