How do you clean them?

I just used a cloth to remove dust from exterior louvers. No lint seems to have accumulated on inside of those louvers. To clean the lint form vent hose, I have removed the the fixture and pushed back in afterwards.

How much air flow is required to push the louvres out?

Does not take all that much, with my new 8 ft vent hose coming from the dryer its pretty strong air flow....

Does this keep out rats mice

I have had no mice or rat problems. The louvers lay very flat when dryer is not venting hot air. Louvers do not flop from even heavy winds--nicely engineered.
