This brush worked great! My DS has very coarse curly/wavy hair. Great for kids with sensory issues. Hates to have his hair brushed, and this brush works great! Although, I do still have to brush in sections and slowly- I get his hair brushed.

I was very skeptical to buy a comb for almost $20 because what if it didn't work. I've had it for a couple of weeks and I'm glad I made the purchase and I'm thinking about getting more for relatives that watch my daughter.My daughter Samantha had straight silky hair until the age of 4 when all of a sudden it turned very very thick and zig-zag wavy. To make things more complicated it was very long (almost to her bum) and she only wanted to wear her hair down in a headband. The combination of these things would matte her hair terribly underneath. It literally looked like a family of mice made a nest in her hair. You can pick it like one piece because it will become so matted.After showers it will take me an hour or more to comb it out. In the mornings for school I can never get it all combed through and the wear and tear of combing it so fast would make it very frizzy and poofing. Not to mention the screaming and complaining and fighting that we would endure during this process.I found that the knot genie worked very very well when combing her hair fresh out of the shower. It cut back my time to about 20 minutes. It doesn't seem to pull or hurt as much as a regular comb either, since my daughter complains very little. It really has made combing her hair a better experience for the both of us. I would recommend this product to anyone who has thick wavy/curly hair.The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I felt it didn't preform as well on my daughter's hair when it was dry. Although still quicker than a regular comb it still takes time to comb through it and it will make it frizzy. Still works better than standard comb and with wet hair it worked like a dream.

I purchased 2 of these (in pink, of course!) in a desperate attempt to deal with my 6 and 8 year old daughters' hair knot issues. One has very long hair and the other has curly hair, and both have sensory issues, so you can imagine how fun hair brushing time is around our place! I sought them out and bought them on the recommendation of a friend wih 6 young kids (no joke) who all have curls.The claims that it makes brushing pain FREE are bogus. No small child is going to sit there happily smiling and whistling while you untangle the matted rat's nest that is the back of their head, no matter WHAT brush you're using. (Actually for those big mats, a wide toothed comb can piece it out better than any brush anyway.) On the other hand, this is way better than a regular brush, and saves us SO many battles and tantrums, it was worth 100X the purchase price in the harmony it has brought to our home!The bristles do have pointy ends. I think that's on purpose, to let hair slip easily over the bristles without catching. So you have to be careful not to scratch the scalp with it. Use gentle pressure, less than you would with other brushes. Like ANY brush, start at the ends and work up. With these it helps to brush against something, so take a section of hair and brush it against your palm or the child's back. It reminds me slightly of carding wool. The bristles are so flexible that any tangles that catch don't yank, but the repeated catching from different levels and direction does get them out.We've had ours for several months now and are so glad. They have lasted and are easy for even my 6 year old to use. So no, they're no magic wand for messy tangles... but they're a definite step up from a regular brush battle.

My daughter has long, wavy, thick, hair that consistently mats right at the base of her neck. I had heard from others in my circle of friends that this product was less than stellar, but given the texture of my daughters hair, and the tears that we went through each day, I had to give it a try.I will say that given the other peoples reviews, as well as the description of the product I thought that I would simply have to run it through her hair and the tangles would magically disappear. That's not the case, and because of that, I think some people were let down.First of all this product does work. It just takes a while. You need patience. Running the brush over the tangle 15-25 times and the tangle does disappear. You say "well my regular bush will do that". While I do admit that this seems like a bit much, I will also admit that it is more effective than a regular brush. The big seller for me is while it does take a while, I get results without the tears. That alone is a big advantage over my regular brush. Even with tangles as high up as my daughters and as big, we are able to get through them. As your doing it, you swear that it's not working, but low and behold, the tangle eventually disappears. The price on the other hand is too much. They are making a killing on this cheap piece of plastic that probably costs them .10 to make. Given the quality of the product I'm not sure how long it will last, but it certainly won't be $20.00 worth.All in all I would definitely recommend this brush.

Really good - was dubious that it would be as good as the reviews but it really is! Used to have so many tears brushing my toddlers hair but no longer! Easy to hold too so she can have a go as well!

This brush works so well. My long grey hair gets matted when I sleep. The Knot Genie easily takes out all the tangles without pulling. I will order more for my travels.

Love this brush! My sister told me about it so I ordered one for me, I have long, thick, naturally curly hair, and one for my boyfriend’s grandma who has long, thin hair but struggles to get knots out due to arthritis. She loves hers almost as much as I love mine. I would definitely recommend this brush

My toddler can easily tolerate her hair being brushed with this and I have one for myself (my hair is fine and tangles easily). A cheaper buy elsewhere but when you need delivery, is worth it.
