A-Zoom Precision Snap Caps 28 Gauge (2 Pack)

For the money, it's pretty hard to beat A-Zoom snap caps. No, these aren't the fancy, expensive, polished brass short caps with the wooly mop that come with bespoke imported SxSs; instead, they are simple, practical, and inexpensive. Not just for providing a protective landing pad for firing-pin strikes, they are actually more like dummy rounds than snap caps because they provide the additional functionality of use in checking for feeding, extraction, and ejection. Their weight approximates that of a live shell, and the OAL is very close to an unfired shell. These are very handy for checking the cycling of a pumpgun, say, by being able to load the mag tube fully with them and shucking them all through. Build quality is excellent: these are nicely machined aluminum with a thickly anodized coating and a tough polymer material in the primer pocket. The rim will eventually get nicked up by extractor claws grabbing it, but it will be a long time and many thousands of extractions before the wear will be significant. I keep a very light coat of Ballistol on mine if it's going to be sitting in a chamber for a while, just to prevent any possibility of corrosion. In short, A-Zoom has built a quality product that provides complete functionality--and it offers it at a very competitive price.

These are the way to go if buying snap caps . Compared to the plastic ones that were more like single use these seem as if they will last.

Works great

The A-Zoom shotgun snap caps are aluminum and seem quite durable. Although leaving aluminum against steel for extended periods is a little bit worrisome, but these are anodized aluminum and many modern shotgun chambers and barrel breech extensions are chromed. Many older ones are not and if the snap cap anodizing becomes nicked, scratched off in places it could react with the steel chamber and cause rust/corrosion spots. So if you do once a leap year gun maintenance, you may want the plastic variety snap caps. For those with chrome chambers, etc. and obsessive gun cleaning habits like myself, these A-Zooms may be the best and longest lasting.
