Review: Out of site and out of mind for almost 10 years. - This little guy has been awesome for almost 10 years now. I have my amp and turntable protected by it. Zero issues, solid as a rock and makes no noise what so ever.
Review: For me this furrie works - flickering / popping / hum TOTALLY eliminated. Phew. - in the studio there's a number of pieces of ac-plugged audio gear and ac-plugged monitors. We had a huge problem where: if someone in the building turned a light or appliance on or off, it would often cause one or more monitors to flicker, perhaps cycle, and you would get audio pops in amps, speakers, eq, dacs etc. and there was often hum all over the place. Unfortunately, with ground or power or ac noise or ground loop problems, unfortunately there are a NUMBER of different issues that can cause your flickering monitors or popping audio or humm. For this reason there's a huge amount of confusion on the issue and, it's a crap shoot whether any "particular" solution will actually solve your particular problem. Fortunately for us, this furman (215A model) did ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY fix all the problems we were having. It now makes no difference if, in the rest of the house, light switches are thrown, vacuums turn on and off, etc etc. The build is rock solid, and now that I've used one, I would pay 2x as much if they put the price up - it's basically "must have" kit at a very fair price for the build quality. I literally love turning on the big solid switch every morning to power everything up! Furman should be proud, great piece of kit. Take all your crap $8 "surge protectors" and throw them in the bin at last ! Safety alert - as everyone should know YOU NEVER chain proper surge protectors, you'll start a fire. Thus when you plug in a power strip IT MUST BE a completely "vanilla" power strip that >>DOES NOT<< have surge protection. It's actually getting harder to buy "real" "vanilla" power strips with NO surge protection. You'll notice in the pic we went to home depot and bought a proper "builder's" power strip which is built like a battleship, it's fantastic, only about 30 bucks which is amazing. (So just TBC the "builder's" power strip indeed has no surge protection, it's just a "real" power strip, perfect.) Would never be without a power conditioner now, this is the only one I've owned but it's golden. Not ONE pop or flicker since.

**Q: Does this need to be plugged directly into the wall outlet, or can it be plugged into a strip? Can I connect a strip to this unit safely?**
A: The warranty is void if the unit is plugged into anything but an outlet.  The warranty language does not seem to address plugging strips INTO the unit. See also Dan J's response, above.

**Q: The prior unit (ac-215) said that its surge protection was "non-sacrificial."  this one does not say that. is it?**
A: The AC-215A manual says: "Traditional surge suppression circuits sacrifice themselves when exposed to multiple transient voltage spikes, requiring the dismantling of your system and repair of your surge suppressor. Not so with Furman’s SMP. Damaging transient voltages are safely absorbed, clamped, and dissipated. Your connected equipment is protected, while your Furman protects itself!"

**Q: Will this take the 60 cycle hum out of my home tube amp?**
A: yes, it will if the issue is a bad ground from your wall socket, I've bought two for the same reason and yes it removed all the noise caused by the bad ground from a wall socket. i suggest plugging your amp in another receptacle, preferably at a different house, just to ensure it isn't a bad tube or cable. (I know this question is from 2017 but maybe it will help someone else)

**Q: Can I plug a surge protector (or power strip) into this, as long as I dont overload?  Will things plugged into the powerstrip still have pure power?**
A: No absolutely not. At the heart of this Furman technology is an MOV based surge suppressor and it is very dangerous to daisy change surge suppressors. That's how a lot of fires get started. see:  http://www.compliance.gov/forms-pubs/eresources/fastfacts_daisychains.pdfConsider a true SERIES MODE power filter made by ZeroSurge, Brickwall (a private label of ZeroSurge), or SurgeX (a licensee of ZeroSurge). These 3 companies make SERIES MODE power filters that do not use MOV's (Metal Oxide Varistors). If you had to, you could plug an MOV based surge suppressor into one of the SERIES MODE power filters, but the obvious question would be why? If you need more outlets, consider a power strip that has no surge suppression. Here on Amazon they are available as 10-outlets in a 1U rack or elsewhere from Prime Power & Cable in a 2+4 (2 transformer spaced outlets & 4 regular spaced outlets) starting at $10.99
