Simplicity has always been our guide to the mountains⏤and our focus for designing headwear for high-alpine environments was no different. The Dome Perginon™ Pro is engineered to work with your helmet, so it fills a gap in your kit without complicating the rest of the system. It's sleek yet notable. It's effective yet humble. It's why our dome hats have been favored by alpinists and big-wall climbers for a quarter of century and counting.

100% wind proof even in ear area, warm in below freezing temps
100% wind proof even in ear coverage area! Also 100% waterproof in the slushy sleet type of snowfall, This will keep you Warm & dry in below freezing temps! Worth Every penny, I would like more color options, much thinner & lighterweight than my old mountain hardware hat that was going on16 years old, It was also 100% windproof & 100% water proof, only it had a felt outer shell all over. This new model has a lighter somewhat shiney type material on the top section. I lost my original one & bought this one for working outside in the winter. Super high quality, super comfortable,it runs a hair on small side but extra lg is a big size jump from lg. So far this is the only hat I can find made on this planet that is really 100% windproof! 100% waterproof, It is a bit harder to hear with it over your ears but I don't mind that because they stay nice & warm! I have bought them all, I ordered the Otter hat the same day thinking I could save money but it was about 50% windproof, not very warm, no good in the slushy sleet type snowfall because it is a knitted cap that stretches & gets wet,it came unraveled on the first day of use. I am vetting another one to put away for emergency!

Covers my ears, breaks the wind, keeps head warm.
This is a classic wind breaking warm hat. I have several of these, they work well (I wash them after exercising with them, so I need a few). I walk to work and back each day (four miles). I live in the northern latitudes of the continental US (only a little over a hundred miles to the Canadian border) and it gets cold outside in the winter. Walking with this hat on always works well. It does block some sound, so it sometimes makes it a bit harder to hear others who are talking to you, but it is well worth the tradeoff to have the blowing wind blocked from my ears and head.

Fits tight. Really warm!
I ordered a large, had to return for an X large, which is still tight fitting. Wow is it warm and helps with the wind and protects my ears. I like the beanie and would buy another.

Windproof Dome
The dome perignon are my favorite hats. I’ve had many colors over the years. The fit is tight & does tend to ride up your ears sometimes. The pro is the regular hat minus the fleece covering. The pro is not as warm as the regular hat. It does offer a more sleek fit for under helmets. The pro seems more rain resistant, too.

Too small
The hat is very well constructed, however it fits like a child’s hat not an adult hat. Very small.

My husband won't wear any other hat.
My husband loves the comfort and the fact that this hat is wind proof. He won't even consider wearing any other hat. So we bought a couple more to keep in reserve for when he loses or wears out the first one. I think it looks great on him.

Not for cold weather
I used a friend's Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignone and wanted to have one of my own. This PRO version is actually made with a clothe top above the earband area. It seems to be more of a helmet liner since the cloth does not really keep the cold out. I returned mine and went back to my trusty knitted watch cap

pills easily
I have 2 , one is from 13yrs back , other just this last yr , expensive by far for a little beanie ! the fact that the felt pilled so easily is dissapointing & kind of a fail , especially that this is supposedly an xtra premium touted product...ear flaps built in just barely cover most of the ear for a large skull in size xtra large..that said , I use these right under the bike helmet , water & wind have no chance , keeps the crown of my head comfy right in a driving rain ( pacific nw ) like to trade back to mountain hardware when they upgrade from the fabric pilling..it's their warranty
