Biology 2e: Official OpenStax [hardcover, full color]

I like the way it explains the body’s functions. We use this book for my BIOL1307 class and it really helps me out. Very informative and definitely a decent source of material.

My book arrived in very good condition and on time.

If you need the hardcover, and your class uses this book, this item is great! So much cheaper than other hard covers out there, and in my opinion openstax is superior, when it comes to detail.

This book is fantastic and it arrived undamaged.The cover is exactly as it is shown in the product image on the selling page as well. The pages are fully colored and there aren't any misprints as far as I have seen!I got mine shipped with Prime so it got here super quickly which I am beyond grateful for as I was able to have it on the first day of class(reading a physical book works better for me versus an e-book)! I would absolutely recommend buying this book for anyone that wants a physical copy of their OpenStax Biology book!

I love the ebook format, especially for college text books. This book had quite a few errors and was saturated with info that seemed irrelevant to the class. But, at the end of the day, it was better than lugging around another huge text book and I'd go this route again.

The book does a good job at explaining processes from a factual linear perspective. E.g. chemical x combines with chemical y to form chemical z. However, it does a very poor job of explaining why those processes matter as a whole in relation to biology and how they relate to other parts of biological systems. It also almost never uses analogies to explain things and very rarely brings the reader up to speed on how the material you just read applies to the material you are reading now. They also insert terms they haven’t explained into the reading leaving you unprepared to understand certain concepts which demonstrates poor coordination between the authors and editor. Most everything is explained in a very unrelatable fashion. There are much better biology textbooks available.

I wanted text books for my 12yo to study STEM over the summer months. I got him the Openstax Biology, Chemistry and Micro-Biology books. The quality of the books is excellent. He commented on this, saying he found the books user-friendly and fun. We had tried some high school chemistry and biology books and found them lacking in content and maturity. (They were dumbed-down) so we proceeded to college-level books. I compared the content of OpenStax to other college STEM books and I find them superior. FYI: OpenStax has all their books available for PDF download, free; and the hardcover books are much cheaper than other, inferior brands. I could not be happier and my son is enjoying his summer studies.
