This genuine Aprilaire replacement water panel is the backbone of your Aprilaire humidifier. **Q: is it not supposed to be just plane wire mesh? what is the white crust on them that looks the same as my last year salt deposited one?**
A: mine does not have the same look as those I threw out..a tiny bit of a white sheen but not at all a crust..I can easily see thru the mesh.

**Q: I just installed this water panel in December and it's already clogged. Can I rinse/clean it out and reinstall?**
A: I'm not sure about that, but the guy that installed our Aprilaire said if you have to replace the water panel more than once a season that you should look into a water softener (or if you have one already, run the softened water to the unit).  I hope that helps!
