MustadCroaker Hook, Wide Gap, Hollow Point - Red Blonde 2/0

The hook as shown has an in line eye. The package arrived with a bent eye. I'll see if it makes a difference fishing.

I’ve used these hooks for years wade fishing for specs and red fish along the Texas and Lousiana coast. These are our go to hooks. Live Croaker work great as do live crab. The hooks hold their form and keep their sharp point and easy to string with the larger eye. Highly recommend

I would recommend trying these hooks. I use the 1/0 red size for inlet fishing here in Florida. I have caught many species of fish with this hook, from whitings to 3 foot sharks with this hooks. The hook is basically a kahle type which acts a lot like a circle hook, hooking the fish in the mouth 90% of the time. Seems to work better then octopus hooks for flounder. The hook will bend instead of break under extreme stress which is fine with me. The red finish will chip away exposing a shiny nickel type finish which continues to catch as long as the hook is sharp. Stands up to salt water just fine.

This is an offset kahle hook as I hoped it would be. I've had more luck with kahle hooks than with circle hooks for catfishing. I've never lost a catfish with a kahle hook. Kahle hooks seem to be hard to find in anything larger that a 3/0. Walmart sells Eagleclaw 3/0 kahle hooks with leaders but they come very dull. These hooks are made with a fairly heavy gauge wire and are very sharp. Not quite as sharp as Gamakatsu or Trokar but they are sharp enough and cheaper. I will definitely be ordering these again.

The offset on the barb seems to make a world of difference... nothing gets away!
