Q: Can they preserve the integrity of an already damaged cord??? Keep it from getting worse??

Maybe a different brand/style could help if you tape the damaged area first then slip one of these things on and maybe tape that in place also. But, I don’t recommend buying these. These are more decorative than purposeful. I returned what I bought because the bodies are made separately from the heads and the heads popped off when I was trying to install them! The give no support to the cord.

Q: I suggest removing "for boys and men." girls and women are very much into marvel & dc, too.

They really should. My daughter and I are really into comics, marvel and DC. It's not just a "guy" thing anymore.

Q: Can I get just Batman ones?

Not sure they are sold naturally individually -I suspect folks on ebay are splitting sets and selling specific heroes (I have not checked).
