Pretty dang good
I’ve had this for about 3 months now and it works great. The visibility you get out of this in the dark is great. It’s like a truck 4 led cube light. About 1000 lumens if I head to guess. I’ve used on the lake at night when salvaging a house boat. I used 2 batteries that night. Battery life is pretty good I would say a 4 amp last about 4.5 to 5 hours. I would say it about an amp an hour. Seems to be durable. I’ve dropped it in the water and used it in the water with no issues. The only thing is it is very top heavy. And that the adjustment is slightly annoying it never wants to snap where you need it but I use it for a hand held device so no big deal. Hope this helps!

Very bright!
This thing is SO bright!I’m a flashlight person and I carry this thing outside with me every night. It’s extremely bright and very handy while working on any project. Very sturdy and be pointed right on your work area.I will definitely buy another one if something happens to the one I have now.

OMG...this is bright!!!
Great light and super bright.I already have an old Makita drill with two 1.5 AMP batteries, so this made more sense than buying a big flashlight. I picked this one because it is a flashlight and a flood. It is super bright and well balanced (unlike what I read about the cheaper knock-off).I will say it seemed a bit expensive but it is perfect since we do get blackouts where I live and this will help getting prepped for the generator. The unit itself is built very well and solid and the features (modes plus it can fold over to be a flashlight) are really helpful.

Let there be light
I already own several Makita cordless tools, therefore I have the batteries that fit this item. So there was no additional expense for a battery (as this item is "tool only").I bought this light mainly as a trouble light when I'm working on my car and as a general flashlight. But then I realized with the 90 degree movable head, it might be a great light source during power outages. Sure enough the flood mode lit up my living room (approx 140 sq ft) very well when I sat it down on the coffee table and pointed the light at the ceiling. Obviously not as good as electric lights, but you could easily read a book with it on, if you wanted. The spot mode works great as a flashlight, better than any of the flashlights I already own. It has a metal hanger you can fold out, so you could suspend it with the supplied strap from a hook if you wished. But, it doesn't come cheap. I paid about $80 and I've seen it at closer to $90. Remember that's without the battery. If you don't own other Makita 18v cordless tools, you will want to pass on this. For those who are a part of the Makita "ecosystem"...According to the manual:A 4.0Ah battery (BL1840B) will get you 6.5 hrs on spot mode, 5.0 hrs on flood mode and 4.0 hrs flood/spot combo.A 5.0Ah battery (BL1850B) will get you 8.5 hrs on spot mode, 6.5 hrs on flood mode and 5.0 hrs flood/spot combo. The product itself gets 5 stars, it does what it says it does. The build quality of this light is as good as the other the Makita tools I own.

Who let the sun out!
This is a monster light. Use it at night and you'll think the sun just came out again. It is bright, super bright! You can see everything with this light! Great for walking the dogs, you'll see everything around you! The battery also seems to last and last. Hard to believe they fit so much power into a flashlight that's cordless but they did. Light up your life and nights and buy one. Great for emergencies!

Buy one and done. Expensive, but portable and powerful.
If you're already in the Makita family of batteries and are looking for a "buy one and done" type of light, this is it. It's super powerful and has a few modes depending on whether you want a spotlight or to light up the entire room. Lightweight, portable, and durable overall... but I am a bit concerned about the strength of the plastic lens itself (just have to be careful when throwing it in your work bag). It's expensive, but works so well you can justify having it as part of your Makita set. With the new 18V batteries it lasts over 6+ hours being constantly on... more than enough to take on weekend trip, job site, or to have at home without worrying about it going out during a DIY project.
