Ethernet Port works well. This device is NOT meant to charge the connected host.
This device works well with the new MacBook Pro (Late 2016) AFTER the appropriate drivers are installed. It does not appear at all until the driver is installed. The most important thing for me was that the gigabit port could pass a true 1 Gbps after I had a run in with a rather unreliable usb to ethernet adapter. I will say, it is obvious that this device is a standard 3.0 controller chip that just happens to have a usb-c cable on the end instead of usb-a. This isn't an issue, just to be aware of. It will NOT charge the host device it's connected to, but it never advertised to do so. Also the ports only have 3.0 amperage available, so it won't charge devices nearly as fast as if they were directly connected to usb-c port that can provide 3 amps of a client device. There is no lag through this device, and it works perfectly so long as the user knows what to expect from this device.

Does not power the cord USB-C.
This don't do power out of it's USB-C port when you plug in 5 volts on it. That's bed. I guess it only power the 3 USB 3.0 plugs. Can open this up but taking the sticker off the side with the cable and take out the 2 screws. Then it slid's out the case.So I solder a wire from the 5 volt in from the power supply to the red wire on the USB-C cable. I just melted though the red wire. It fixed it so now it does power to the USB cable. Junk they did not have this all ready. Put tape over it and back in it's case. Now it can power up my PC with the USB-C cable!

Worked flawlessly.
The j5create JCH471 worked flawlessly for my older HP Spectre x360 dual -boot (Win 10 1903 and Linux Ubuntu 1704, once I purchase a USB-3.0 male to USB-3.1 type C female converter. Newer HP Spectre x360 have USB-3.1 type C ports.

Not well made
The USB plug detached from the cord the second time I used it. Just very poorly made. I will return it and get a different one from a another manufacturer.

Three Stars
When you plug a device into USB on this hub, it won't charge.

Awful product
This device will not work with a Mackbook Pro - the Ethernet connection continually fails whereas a direct USB-C to Ethernet connection works just fine.

Could be better
I bought this item from Fry's but and thought that a review here is warranted. This device has three "USB 3.0" or "USB 3.1 Gen 1" ports and one gigabit ethernet port; it is sufficient for plugging in low powered items. When i attempted to plug in a 3TB external drive with ANYTHING else, it kept connecting and disconnecting rapidly. I found that it remains stable when a 5V power supply is plugged into the available hole. There are plenty of cheaper multi-port adapters that functions exactly the same way, if not, better.
