Really helping my sore thumb
I managed to overexert my bottom thumb joint, the one where my thumb meets the rest of my hand. It was really, really painful to the touch, and I knew a doctor would tell me to keep it completely immobilized until it healed. I read a *lot* of reviews before I selected this one. I have small hands and wrists so anything that's "one-size-fits-all" is usually too big for me and this Vive brace size small is perfect for my hand. The supports on either side of my thumb (most braces have just one support) keep it very, very still. While a lot of reviews for similar braces talk about the velcro being too hard to undo or wearing out immediately, the straps on this brace hold just right... not too hard to remove, but durable enough to stand up to regular use. I've been wearing it non-stop for 4 days now including while sleeping. It's very comfortable with no spots that bind or rub blisters. My thumb already feels *much* better. Soon I probably won't need it, but it will be great to have around in case I strain my thumb again.

Great quality, great price, and very comfortable
I bought this for my right hand to prevent an overuse injury after having surgery on my left arm. I naturally have a hypermobile distal thumb joint, basically extreme Hitchhiker's thumb so using only my right hand was causing my middle thumb joint to hurt a lot when pinching and gripping objects. I needed something to block hypermobility so I could prevent injury but still let me have full function of my hand. This splint was very easy to put on and adjust, even with limited mobility of my other arm. It's comfortable to wear and could be used in a variety of ways. The rigid supports provide excellent immobilization if you need it for post up trigger thumb or de quarvein's tenosynovitis. I wanted light support so I could use my thumb fully but without my joints hyperextending and this splint does that well with the rigid supports removed. I actually found my pinch strength increased while wearing the splint because it could keep my distal joint straighter against resistance. Having the option to remove one or both supports makes this splint very versatile for a variety of common thumb and wrist injuries. I was so happy with this purchase I bought a second one for my other hand for later on in my post-op recovery when I'm allowed to start gasping again.

Good product but hard to take off
After being diagnosed with "Mommy's/Gamer's thumb," I actually purchased 3 products to compare. Eventually I settled on this one. Overall the product works great. It allows me to adjust for the width of my thumb and keeps my thumb from most of the strain. However, the velcro is extremely tight. I mean I have to really yank, to take it off (I'm a guy, who works out, hahaha). On the one hand, it's good to be tight so the brace doesn't just come off, but it can be a pain to take off, especially with an injured hand. You will have to take this off a few times a day, to wash your face, take a shower, etc... Besides that, it has held up. I've owned it for over a month and despite everything, it's still going. I personally hope to one day be done with this thing. If you are suffering from this same ailment, there are exercises online to help you move past this. Unfortunately, our medical system is more concerned with more ways to make money than to really help you. Case in point the fact that at the Orthopedic Doctor's a brace was $150 with Insurance, online these are $20 to $40.

Pain reliever
I am in agony from overuse and after trying many other braces, this one is by far the best. It’s a great stabilizer. I honestly couldn’t imagine not having it. It’s a big pain reliever for me.

Only $13.00 For Significant Pain Relief? Go Figure!
I misdiagnosed myself, thinking that the formidable pain I was experiencing in my left thumb was the result of eating too much red meat and resulting in gout. The pain began radiating through my wrist so I ordered a Sammons Preston Thumb Spica Wrist Brace to stabilize both. While the wrist brace component worked extremely well, my thumb continued to wobble and cause pain. So I decided to order this Vive Arthritis Thumb Splint for a whopping $12.99. What a difference in stabilization!!! Putting it on reminded me of the full arm cast I had put on 50 years ago while playing basketball in graduate school. A hard pass caught my left thumb with enough force to dislocate the thumb, resulting in it hanging off my fist. Of course I was with a bunch of guys and tried to "tough it out". I gave my wrist a good hard shake to try to put it back into place -- which failed miserably. Fortunately we were playing on a basketball court within 100 feet of the hospital. The last thing that I remember was the ER doctor counting back from 5. It was probably at 3 when he put it back into place and I passed out cold. It's been a long time since this thumb has bothered me so that wasn't my first guess as to cause of pain. However, putting on this Vive Arthritis Thumb Splint stabilized it immediately and gave me a sigh of relief. What a stroke of luck to have found something that worked so quickly! It is easy to put on, stabilizes both wrist and thumb, and most of it is composed of breathable material. That's important since we live in hot and humid Southwest Florida. My wife was so impressed when she watched me typing this review (with the brace on) that she wants me to order one for her right thumb. She also has a Sammons Preston wrist brace but can't wear it at work because she is a Nurse Practitioner and it limits her ability to perform her job. She also wants one in beige since it isn't so noticeable. I hope that it helps her as much as it has delivered relief to me.

A very nice supportive splint. Wide strap at the thumb part and comfortable when on. I will say the ad states freedom of movement which is a bit misleading. Don't get me wrong, it does what is is supposed to and supports and protects, but the thumb is very much restricted. Not the the point of not being able to do anything, but it does limit the thumb considerably. It depends what you are looking for. If you need the thumb to have limited movement then it's perfect. If you need the thumb to have a good range of movement maybe pick something a little less robust. I will say though that once on it's comfortable and does the job. I have arthritis in my wrist and the thumb is in agony whenever I do something. With this on the pain is reduced considerably and my ability to use my hand is restored almost back to normal. I still have pain, but it's very minor compared to without it on. I was tempted to drop the rating to 4 stars due to the lack of choice in colour, I wanted black, got beige. Then I thought dropping the rating for something like that was wrong as the actual function and build was exactly what I wanted and the colour was the least of my worries. The reality is I'd have worn pink with yellow polka dots if it worked, and it certainly does.
