Useful guide if you want to follow the McKinsey way
Claudio Feser is a Senior Partner at McKinsey, Michael Rennie is a former Senior Partner at McKinsey and Nicolai Chen Nielsen is an Associate Partner with McKinsey. This is very much an insular McKinsey book as it draws on the firm's preferred leadership practice, applying it to a fictional company to demonstrate how effectiveness is increased. There is zero criticism or acknowledgement of where this practice may fall down and as such this is really only of any use if you're interested in knowing how McKinsey do things.

The future leadership
This book has provided me with a different way to think about leadership, and how to successfully accelerate my business goals through more effective leadership. The research is extensive and impressive. I specifically appreciated the lessons from the case studies.

Book of the firm
Honestly I found this rather stretched out. It’s a book by members of a management consultancy firm, trying to promote the values of that firm. It’s rather long for an elevator pitch. Not my cuppa tea.

Leadership At Scale
This book is based on contributions from over thirty senior McKinsey leadership development practitioners around the globe. They include contributors from the UK, the USA, Malaysia, Singapore, France, India, Germany and many other parts of the world. The book is separated into different sections: Leadership defined, Our approach in practice and Frequently Asked Questions. In order to highlight their theory of leadership, the book uses a fictional company, based in Shanghai. In this book, this fictional company’s leadership development journal is followed in detail, to highlight how leadership effectiveness is increased.Of course, the issue with this book is that it is basically setting out a particular theory of leadership; rather than outlining different theories and, as such, it is not as critical as it could be.. However, this is still a very readable book, drawing on many real life scenarios, research and suggestions of ways to increase leadership effectiveness.

A Light Read for Leaders
This is a easily accessible exploration of the themes and driving concepts behind modern leadership principles. Its strength is that it isn't too bogged down in itself, which will make it an easy read for the newcomer. However, if you've already got some experience of working with these ideas, then there might not be enough meat on the bones for you. It does refer to a good range of source materials and territories, which is to the book's credit. However, don't expect this to be an exhaustive study of the subject matter.

Nothing new
I’ve read lots of books about leadership, and so what I look for these days is something that summarises theory well, preferably based on practical experience, and offers a new slant or some new advice that I haven’t seen before.Whilst Leadership at Scale does well on backing up theory with real-life experience, there’s nothing new here that I haven’t read before elsewhere; the book also seems to have done a reasonable job of squeezing not very much into a large amount of text, as there’s a lot of repetition. It’s probably a useful read for anyone new to this sort of book, but otherwise it’s slightly disappointing.
