Color Harmony Compendium: A Complete Color Reference for Designers of All Types, 25th Anniversary Edition

I first saw this book at Barnes and Noble, added it to my Christmas wish list, then got it for myself recently. Was it worth the wait? Yup!I have the 25th anniversary edition with a color wheel incorporated into the front cover. I really like that feature (I'm judging a book by its cover again, lol!).What I like about this book is the brevity of text, to the point and pertinate, followed by lots and lots and lots of color! The color is well-grouped, the groups well labeled. Colors are assigned numbers, dark red is 1 and pale lilac is 96 with solid black as 106. The aspects of color are covered, the combination schemes well laid out, and then the images of color well illustrated. For example, achromatic bluish/greenish shades of grey give most people an image/feeling of corporate steadiness. If you instead see a monochromatic yellow/mustard scheme, you'll feel welcomed.The book also comes with a CD-ROM that should be interesting. I'm just waiting for my iMac to come back to life before I can see what this interactive CD contains!Overall, I see this book as a treasure trove of useful reference material. My hobby is photography, and I'm looking to occassionally make back some of the money I put into my art form of choice. The info in this book will help me choose backgrounds and subjects with the most effectiveness for the message I'm trying to convey.I do recommend this book! I think it's helpful to artists of all kinds, marketing folks, small business owners, decorators, teachers, and anyone else wanting to use color to convey feelings and set the right atmosphere in their home, office, gardens, etc! You will, at the least, enjoy browsing the illustrations! :)

I had the book COLOR HARMONY 2 and it was very helpful concerning to color schemes for the ones that work in design area. When I saw this one, Color Harmony Compendium: A Complete Color Reference for Designers of All Types, 25th Anniversary Edition I notice it has much more content and examples applied to other areas(like graphic design) than only about the color concepts.It is a must, a book that every artist should have as reference. I recommend it not only for the content but also for its quality and its price (was like a lunch for 2 at any fast food restaurant).5 stars for sure.

I really enjoyed this book, It had lots of examples of different color combinations. It also covered basic color theory. I was hoping for a bit more information on color theory, but it's still a winner.

It is just pics of harmonious colorThey clame at the last page there is some software you can download from a link they provide for more harmony colors of your choice, but unfortunately the link redirect you to new website has nothing to download.

A good quick reference for colors and people's perceptions of them. I only needed a simple book on color and this fit the bill.

Fairly easy read that is helpful to non practitioners who are working with decorators, graphic designers, etc. I recommend it.

The book is very broad and can be complicated. I would suggest the smaller version.Expect spending more time than necessary.

If you are looking for a book with all the Pantone colors, this is NOT IT. This book is boringly repetitive as it shows you the SAME logos and design examples on every page, but in many different choices of colors. It's ugly and not helpful. It's just a million dumb interpretations of ''feelings'' associated with colors, like ''romantic'', ''energetic''... If you want to be formated into business design for corporate purpose, then buy this book. If you have a strong inner sense of good taste, don't buy this book.

This beautiful book was better than expected. It arrived in good condition and I am looking forward to giving it to my son for Christmas, who is training to become an architect. A great product. Thank you.
