Good backpack at a great price.
I read a ton of reviews on backpacks and went back and forth for weeks before purchasing this one. I needed an inexpensive backpack that fit my small list of requirements. Before settling on this one, I read many of the comments. Here's a break down of the complaints/comments that made me hesitate. Size: When originally reading the reviews of this item, many complained that it was small. The dimensions are clearly stated in the product description. It is not a huge bag, but it isn't tiny either. What it is, is a moderately sized bag, perfect for day trips. I am 5'5" and wear this bag comfortably. My husband (5'11") has no comfort issues with it either. The straps have a large amount for adjustment and make getting a comfortable fit easy. Quality: Come on, folks. Look at the price of this bag. You are not getting a Jansport that is going to last until your kids have kids. It is extremely reasonably priced and you know that the quality is not going to be stellar. With that in mind, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this bag actually is. Sure, the stitching could use a little reinforcement in some areas and I fully expect to have to do that at some point down the road. But, for the daily abuse this bag takes, it is holding up surprisingly well. I have stuffed it within an inch of it's life and then dragged it through an airport and on an airplane and you would never know it. It gets tossed in the car, shoved into lockers, sat in the dirt, and still looks great. Busted zipper/weird smell/misc. complaints: My bag was in perfect shape. If your bag has a defect, contact Amazon and return it. They have a great return policy. With any mass-manufactured item, there is going to be a small number of items that are not up to snuff. Every batch has its lemon. In short, I purchased this bag to replace my (several years old) Eddie Bauer cross-body diaper bag that was on it's last leg. My goal for this bag was one that would fit me comfortably and hold everything I needed for a day trip out with my toddler. I had requirements of a separate front pocket, water bottle pockets on each side, and no interior technology padding. This bag fit the bill perfectly and has performed admirably. On a typical day outing, this bag holds: *an Easy Lunchboxes lunch bag *a changing mat *a small case of wipes *4 diapers *2 Contigo water bottles *wallet, glasses case, and misc. small personal effects *pack of crayons and small note pad *snack bars *matchbox cars *change of toddler clothes All that and I usually have a little room to spare. So, if you're looking for a good day bag that won't break the bank, you really can't beat this deal. Update 9/4/15: This bag is still going strong more than a year later! I'm seriously impressed with how well it is holding up. Sure, one of the mesh pockets has a couple small tears and I can see some seams that are working on getting a little loose, but nothing that affects the overall performance. This backpack goes EVERYWHERE with us and puts up with a lot of abuse. This is one great inexpensive backpack!

It is a really good size. It is standard backpack size
With three school aged children at home we are forever going through backpacks. If you have ever purchased a backpack in the stores you know they are NOT cheap! Cheaply made, yes...cheap to buy, no. My youngest son recently ripped the zipper on the backpack we purchased in September and being December we didn't want to spend a lot on a new backpack. So, I went to Amazon. I found this backpack which was VERY well priced! It is a really good size. It is standard backpack size, so about the same size of the ones you would purchase at Target or Walmart...maybe slightly bigger. This is made of a nice canvas and has a heavy zipper on it. In addition, there are two sections. The larger section in the back is perfect for those larger notebooks, while the smaller section will hold pencils, pens, etc. There are even elastics in the front section to hold things down. This was a great find and I plan to purchase a few others at this price so we always have a spare in the house! My review process is as follows: 5 stars: An excellent product and I would purchase again and recommend it to my friends and family 4 stars: Product is very good and exceeds most expectations. I would likely purchase again. 3 stars: Product is sufficient for its purposes, but you do get what you pay for 2 stars: Product was NOT sufficient for its purposes and likely is overpriced for its stated purpose 1 star: Product is NOT as described. Product does not work. Product is a COMPLETE waste of money as item cannot be used in any fashion.

Excellent value in "personal-item-size" carry-on backpack
This is a nice lightweight backpack that fits within some airlines' (including United's) requirements for carry-on "personal items": 9x10x17" max. This item is described as 5x11x17, but it's actually more like 8x11x17, and there's nothing stiff in the pack itself to prevent you from squeezing the 11" dimension (what I would call "width") down to 10" if you get a picky gate agent. Additional advantages: -- Very light weight but I expect it to be durable (I have one of their fanny packs that has held up very well). Measured weight 14.7 oz. -- Although mine shipped flat, it is easily folded into thirds or rolled up for packing empty in another bag. -- Great price. -- Great choice of colors (after receiving and testing, I iimmediately came back and ordered one in khaki/navy for my wife). -- Large enough to hold a medium-size laptop. Mine has a 14" display -- its case is 9" high, against the 11" dimension of the pack, so you could comfortably go up to, say, a 15.6" display. -- While the water-bottle pockets are not very deep (I've complained about this for another, much more expensive backpack), this one has a little loop above each side pocket (you can see one in the picture). You can pass a rubber band through this loop and put the two ends over the top of your bottle and presto -- falling-out problem is solved! Disadvantages: -- No padding for a laptop. -- No padding in the back of the pack to keep stuff (like the laptop) from poking you -- if it's a problem you'll have to devise your own solution, inside the pack (like a folded tee shirt or whatever). -- Not as many pockets/compartments as more expensive packs. -- The diameter of the carry handle at the top is too small to loop around the handle of your roll-aboard carry-on. All in all, a great value -- cheap enough to try even if you're not sure!

A year with this backpack and it's still holding up well!
I bought this to use as an everyday school backpack for my kindergartener and it's perfect for that purpose. We wanted a quality bag that wasn't cartoon-branded to hold the school basics without being cumbersome. It has a roomy main compartment that can easily hold standard folders and a binder, and the front pocket is great for smaller items. It's small, so if you're shopping for a middle school or high school kid it might not be a good fit. We haven't had any issues with rips, tears or zipper breaks, but if it were loaded down with textbooks/laptop it might not hold up as well. Over the summer we used this backpack to hold snacks and games for day trips, camping and weekend outings. 16oz water bottles fit just right on the side mesh pockets, and the straps can be easily adjusted to fit an adult or child. We put it though the washing machine and it came out just fine. I'm very happy with this and for the price it's an amazing deal!

Not a bad for the price
It is a nice bag but it is kind of falling apart but in its defense I have given it a hard life. I have used it every day for school and pack all my heavy books laptop and waterbottles. My waterbottle doesnt quite fit in the side pocket and keeps falling out if I am not careful. I have had it for about 7 months and will have to get a new bag but I will be getting something more heavy duty as that is the lifestyle I lead. This bag is nice and fine for occational use. But if you are hard on your bags and use them everyday and want something that willl last long look elsewhere. For the price I dont think its that bad though I am currently still using it and will until I get something more heavy duty.

Versatile slightly smaller backpack
Love this bag. Got my first when my dad suggested a smaller backpack for overseas travel. Durable. Simple. I bought two more.

Can't believe the quality for the price!
I bought this backpack 2 years ago for my son when he was going into second grade. He wanted a Dr. Who backpack. I looked through actual Dr. Who bags but they were either poorly rated, expensive or both. So I picked this up along with some Dr. Who patches and he loved it (picture is before I added many more patches)! I had forgotten just how little I spent on this bag until I came across it again looking through backpacks. This bag has lasted my son 2 years (2nd and 3rd grade) and it's still going! It has fit everything he ever needed and everything (including the zippers) has held up perfectly. The only problem he's ever had is the side water bottle pockets aren't super tall so if you fling your backpack around like kids can do sometimes, the bottles can fall out. This has only happened a couple of times in 2 years, though. We've spent more on bags that lasted a quarter as long. Fantastic backpack!

better than you find in the box stores for the ...
Tough little backpack, better than you find in the box stores for the same price. I needed a backpack for my daughter half way through the school year. This one held up very well for the price point. I would say it is an average size school bag.

Quite simply the best fiver I've ever spent!!
This colourful, fun-yet-practical backpack is simply FANTASTIC!! Seriously, I don't know when I was last so very enthusiastic about something I'd bought - and especially not an add-on item that cost under a fiver! I'm a very active paraplegic whose job involves travel, and who competes in wheelchair tennis singles tournaments. So I use a rigid-frame, ultra-low-back sports wheelchair with a funky hot-pink frame and black upholstery. I needed a bag which would hang on my chair, but all the designated "wheelchair bags" offered on Amazon were dull black ones for much larger chairs, and require push-handles, which I don't have. On the other hand, the bag which IS made for sports chairs like mine by Quickie - who also make the chair - costs an eye-watering £80+, even without VAT! But this cheap, simple, yet sturdy, back-pack is ideal! The padded straps are easy to adjust to the shortest length, so that it hangs perfectly. I've currently got two large towels, my tennis shorts and two tees, shower gel, shampoo, a travel hairdryer, brushes, a paperback, a couple of apples, and six tennis balls in the main section; purse, phone, keys and driving licence in the front pocket; and a 500ml bottle of water in each of the mesh side pockets!! And it still isn't anything like over-stuffed!! I think it probably holds more than an expensive padded, and more structured one of a similar size would, precisely because of it's free-form. I don't need it to carry a lap-top, but it's true it might not offer much protection for anything like that. And I don't know how comfortable the unpadded structure would be if carried for long periods against one's back in the usual way. But these are so affordable, sturdy, and come in such a wide range of bright colours, they'd make great schoolbags. As I explained, I specially wanted the hot-pink shade for mine, but a warning to anybody else choosing the colour: the photo is deceptive - it truly is shocking-pink! Finally, to anyone reading this and wondering how on earth a back-pack can be offered at this ridiculously low price I'd say: don't hesitate, cos this is a quality piece of kit! Grab one while you can! :-)
