Montessori Counting Beads Checker Board Beads

Great for my Montessori classroom! Quality is very good.

Great beads for what they are, but this includes only 1-9. It’s frustrating not having any gold 10 bars. Other sets include the 10 bars. I wanted to have just one set to do basic addition and subtraction up to 99.

My kids love counting and playing with these math beads. They are good quality. Just wish the box to hold them was more well fitted.

This is exactly what I grew up with and have been looking for. For those who have don’t have a Montessori background or didn’t read the well written descriptions, this is made for beginning counting, numbers one through 9. They are not nor have they ever been made to connect, it allows more versatility and exploration for the child. These are for children under 3-4 years old. When older or have mastery in 1-9 the beads change to groups of 10 and eventually up to thousands. I loved these as kid and look forward to using them with my students. They are exactly as Montessori designed them to be. They are not just any old math counting beads. The only difference is that these are plastic, in the 89’s they were glass beads. Plastic makes more sense for lots of reasons but I’d love a glass set.

Beads do not connect to make a chain sorry if I overlooked this detail in the fine print but it is common sense to have this feature involved for building strong math skills within children.

I can’t believe the price of this and then it’s missing the 10’s bead. So annoying.
