MyArtscape Paint Brush - Set of 15 Art Brushes for Watercolor, Acrylic & Oil Painting - Short Handles

These brushes were recommended to me by a professional oil painter who commands thousands of dollars for his paintings. If they're good enough for him, they're certainly good enough for me. I've learned that painting needs three things (four, if you count talent. LOL) : Paint, brushes and a surface. In watercolors, good paper is most important. In oil painting, the paint is the most important. In both, brushes are where you can save some money. I have Escoda kolinsky sable brushes that I rarely use. I've found that pricier isn't necessarily better when it comes to artist brushes.

I bought these several months ago for use with acrylic paint since I primarily use kolinsky brushes for watercolors and I didn't want to wreck them with acrylics. How delightful these brushes! The flats come to a wonderfully fine edge, and the rounds a perfect point. They hold the perfect amount of acrylic paint and they have a nice spring.I have really abused them painting with outdoor liquid acrylics, letting them rest in my water bucket for hours, and even letting some sit full of paint for half an hour. When I finished painting, I dumped them into a sink in warm water and dish detergent. The handles and brushes cleaned up perfectly and the handle finished is like new.These brushes are an amazing deal, and I highly recommend them for acrylic painting.The unusually nice packaging they came in would make them an attractive gift.

These brush's ferrules were loose right out of the box. 2 brushes of mine broke the 2nd time I used them and the detail rounds are useless because you have no control over the wiggle. My $3 brushes have better performance! Don't waste time and money on these.Update: since my original review, I have contacted the brush company and Beth was super friendly and eager to make things right! She was in constant contact with me until the problem was resolved! They sent me a new brush set at no cost to replace the original one. Upon receiving it, I opened it and wiggled every brush. None of them were loose!! I did a few paintings using every brush and they all worked well. They held my bead of paint well, performed well and were easy to manipulate to do what I wanted them to do. I believe I received a poorly made batch the first time and the company was truly concerned about my experience. They worked very hard at correcting the problem. I will buy from Myartscape again!

I'm a beginner but I wanted a nice set of brushes to work with. This set was offered at a great price and gives me just about all the brushes I need. I started painting after going to one of those "paint and sip" classes and loved it! Having attended a few of those, I noticed they generally only offer 3 brushes, a really large one for the background, a smaller one for most of the painting and a detail brush. However, I often wish I had different brushes (while in those classes) so when painting at home, I now have pretty much all the brushes I need in this set. They are sturdy and so long as I spend time cleaning them well after use, I expect they will last.

I’m glad to have this set of brushes for painting with acrylics. I had bought one brush first, a half inch flat, and loved how it handled, so I went for the set. The brushes load nicely and have helped me achieved some very clean lines. I would recommend this set, especially for the price. Also, the customer service is outstanding. One brush in the set was defective and and since they didn’t have just that brush on hand, they sent me a whole replacement set. And I did not have to return the first set!

High quality brushes for the price!! Despite being synthetic bristles I can already tell that they hold a lot of water/pigment and they don't feel flimsy at all. I went through and tested each brush to get a feel for the stroke and each one lays down a smooth and even stroke or does the stroke the way it should - as with the case of the rake brush. They're well made, clean, not showing any signs of excess glue, loose or uneven bristles - they feel sturdy in my hands and I can just get the sense that these will be a part of my kit for a long time!

These brushes hold lots of paint and are very easy to use. Very easy to clean and they hold their shape better than any others I’ve used. I will definitely purchase again and recommend them to anyone painting with heavy body acrylics.

I have never written a negative review before. I paint with acrylics. I ordered these because they were recommended on a painter's blog. In three brushes there were too many stray bristles that were slightly longer than the other bristles. (I am not talking about the handy little brush for painting grass and such. I realize it is intended to be that way.) The price was great, but the quality wasn't. Maybe it was just a bad batch, or a slip up in QC. I don't know. Not worth the effort to return. Most of the brushes were fine and I will continue to use them.
