Empowered: How God Shaped 11 Women's Lives (And Can Shape Yours Too)

This book does exactly what it sets out to do. Catherine does a REMARKABLE job of reaching a young audience from preteen to adult women (I’m 44) with summaries of the life stories of eleven notable/famous women of faith in Jesus. She goes further by then relating their lives to the lives of young women today and providing them with questions and Scripture to discuss together in a small group, with parents and family or friends. What I especially loved about this book is that it emphasizes that each of our lives can have a tremendous impact when rooted in Christ no matter where we are or what our life circumstances may be. I also couldn’t stop there...I used her resources to further read about these women and even watched some films and am about to reread The Quiet Place while recovering from surgery! I am so inspired to grow closer in my walk with Jesus through this book and to buy a copy for each of the young women in my small group because it is absolutely perfect for young women as they enter college as well. I have preordered the Strong book as well and plan on reading it to my son as he gets a little older because I know it will be just as good!

I bought this book yesterday and I am almost done with it! Catherine did a beautiful job of giving all the glory to God for the accomplishments of these young women. She wrote in a very easy-to-understand way, made the women seem like real, relatable people, and shared such important spiritual truths throughout each page. I especially love the reflection questions and devotional after each biography as well as the theme verse for each chapter. She includes beautiful quotes from the women, which inspire me and make me want to research their lives even more. I am so excited to read this to the young girls in my life and also recommend it to others. Thank you for your hard work, Catherine!

The biographies are very good, and I love the questions and Bible study at the end of each chapter. I bought this for my daughter and then bought another copy for my niece.

A wonderful book on building and cultivating faith! These women featured have powerful stories that all girls and women should know about! Read it as a group with a discussion or read alone -- but read this book! Our family is also enjoying Strong - so many faithful people have gone before us! Read and learn!

My 11-year-old couldn’t put this book down! The best kind of “girl power” is the kind that comes from God and empowers women (and girls!) to accomplish God size feats in the world. I can’t wait to read it next!

I'm going through this now with my daughter and the only problem I've encountered so far is that she wants to keep reading and discussing them all at one time. This is a great resource and I've learned from it as well.

Parks has done a wonderful job making the stories of these remarkable women both accessible and entertaining for young readers. My daughter and I read this together and it spurred on some incredible conversations about what it looks like to live out our faith. Highly recommend for the grade school years- and it will convict and teach mom and dad, too!
