Second purchase
This is my second puchase of this little gizmo. I was so happy with mine I bought one for my son. It does just what is says on the packet. I use mine to operate my Virgin plus box, video and Apple TV which are shut away in a cabinet.

EXACTLY what I wanted.
I have a Digisender that I use for transmitting perfect picture to my bedroom from the the living room. It has an incorporated part that does what this HQ Compact Infra Red Remote Control Extender does - only it's very hit an miss, very unresponsive at times, very slow when it is responsive and the frustration prompted the search for an alternative for the remote.I made the mistake of buying the SLx - Magic Eye IR Extender ... something that deliberately withholds from potential buyers the fact it requires a complete coaxial cable running from the source, through the house and to the bedroom ... yes, very 1980's.With this HQ Compact Infra Red Remote Control Extender I didn't even need to read the instructions. On the base of one unit it says Transmitter and the on the base of the other unit it says Receiver. This is all I needed to know. I have uploaded a picture of the transmitter sitting next to a Sky+ remote to give you a sense of it's size and look.As for performance ... it's EXACTLY like aiming the remote directly at the Sky box. The responsiveness has been 100%. The receiver in the living room is stuffed right at the back of the Sky box among the wires. I have a single pod draped at the front of the Sky box (see uploaded picture).I can't fault device. There are two other pods that can be draped at the front of other devices like a VCR but I don't have one. Of course, this can also be used to control a HiFi system from the garden, bedroom, etc.EDIT: Today 03 October 2012 my transmitter unit stopped transmitting. This is 4 months later. I have written an email to the seller just now for advice regarding refund/replacement. I will post here the result.EDIT: Today 11 October 2012 The cost of returning the product to ExpressPro is a seriously false economy. To ensure safe postage, the cost is 1/3 of the product cost. This money is not recouped. During a return of goods or refund, it should not be costing me money, especially this much. I am going to check the power adapter on the receiver with the transmitter to see if it is this that failed. If it is not the power supply, I will be reducing my vote from 5 to a 1.EDIT: Today 11 October 2012 It is not the power supply. I took the transmitter from my bedroom and plugged it in a socket across the living room. I then adjusted the positions of the pod draped over the front of my Sky+ Box and kept trying to change channels with the remote aimed at the transmitter I recently plugged in across the room. Voila .. it was the pod having moved. All is working fine again and the 5 stars I gave this product continue to be deserved because it performs excellently.

Needs instructions
In the absence of instructions I set this up how I thought it would work and it didn't. It was all packed ready to return when I checked this second set of reviews on Amazon which I had not seen before HQ Compact Infra Red Remote Control Extender for TV, VCR, DVD, Blue Ray. Includes 3 Sensors to control 3 devices. . As one of the other reviewers mentioned there, the self adhesive IR repeaters transmit sideways and therefore need to be placed adjacent to the IR receiver apertures on your DVD players etc. not over the top as I did initially. I also did not realise that the (mouse-like) unit is the main IR receiver and the other one is an extender. So, it is now working and I have been able to stick the repeaters on the inside of the door to the cupboard rather than on the equipment itself which is slightly less ugly. It does work and range is OK. The UK adaptor was present and packed inside. For those who follow a manual for a related product is available on-line a [...] but it is less helpful than advice given on Amazon.

Does the job perfectly, but...
Great product, great price but the photo is a little misleading. The three IR senders are actually in series rather than being separate - ie three sensors along one long piece of wire rather than each sensor having its own separate wire with a sensor at the end. Depending on the design of your unit, this could make it difficult if you have more than one piece of kit to control and they are on separate shelves. I have one of those IKEA units (Besta Burs) which is great (and popular). I had to scratch my head a little, but after clearing up the dandruff I managed to weave the cable through small gaps between the shelves so that I could control a Sky box, Xbox and bluray player. Having done this, it works fine.As others have mentioned - no need to open the front or leave it open (aside from plonking a disk into the Xbox/blu ray player when you have to). Overall, if you're looking to control hidden devices this product hits the spot, and when I was looking to buy one, nothing else came close, and anything that did was at a much higher price. So yeah - buy it!

Works a Treat
Our Sony Bravia TV is fixed to the wall, the other side of which is the 'cupboard under the stairs'. By using this Infra Red remote control we have been able to have our Freesat box and DVD player neatly hidden away in the Cupboard - really neat! The only drawback is that the remote on the freesat box is a little slow but I suspect that may be the case without the extender.

Magic!
Just brilliant, small compact device, that allows all the TV and CD system to be stored in a wooden cupboard out of sight and we don't have to open the cupboard doors at all!Only thing we found was that the sensors can drop off, however a small spot of superglue works and doesn't interfer with the signals.Love it!

IR remote contro extender
No problems at all setting up with my virgin+ cable receiver using my programmable remote control was able to transmit through three solid brick walls, I have tried other extenders that failed miserably so very happy.

Just pluged in and worked straight out of the box ...
Just pluged in and worked straight out of the box only downside you've got to aim controller directly at the box to pick signal up
