These brackets are very thick steel and incredibly sturdy. The product description says these brackets are heavy duty and they are just that - Heavy Duty! We replaced our golden oak fireplace mantel with a piece of quartzite left over from our kitchen island slab. We were advised to provide one or more supports within the existing span to prevent deflection of the stone. We purchased two Medium Heavy Duty Shelf Brackets and attached them to our brick using 3/16" Tapcon masonry screws. These screws fit nicely in the two (2) pre-drilled holes present in each arm of the bracket. The color and finish on the brackets is really beautiful, but we elected to spray paint ours to coordinate with the stainless steel finish of our fireplace insert. We highly recommend these brackets - they were the perfect choice for our project.

My husband and I just built a new house a couple miles from my family farm, where I grew up. We had a barn that was built in 1850 and it recently began falling down. I bought these more for aesthetics…my mantle didn’t really need support as it was anchored to the wall securely. I just needed something to add to the fireplace wall. These did the trick…stylish, sturdy and relatively easy to install.My contractor just could not get the screw for the middle hole into the stone so it only has screws on the bottom and the top that goes into the mantle.

I had a large butcher block island made and I bought these for our woodworker to install. He was really impressed with them and is going to get some for another project - an outdoor floating bench, so it needs to be really supportive. These look so great with my island and do the job!

We bought these brackets to mount the 72” antique farm beam mantle on our fireplace. We shopped around and chose these because of the price point. Before installing, we added a coat of matte black spray paint(definitely recommend this, otherwise they brackets look unfinished). Great value and quality!

We bought these brackets to add a rustic look to our fireplace surround and mantel. There is no weight limit in the description, but these will hold a lot of weight. Our mantel is at least 60 LBS and the medium brackets hold it and could hold more, if needed. They are a deep, dark brown that almost looks black. They are the perfect addition to any rustic look.
