Sportsman GEN4000, 3500 Running Watts/4000 Starting Watts, Gas Powered Portable Generator

I had a problem with the power generation, and when calling the technicians the fault was in the ATR Voltage Regulator, when it was dismantled the one that it has installed is 2kVa, and not the one that should carry a 3,500-4000 plant that is the one I bought, I had to pay for repair of an item that is new because the power generator comes from the factory with a lower voltage regulator than the one described in the equipment characteristics

Nice Generator,,, built well and started on my second pull. Its not too loud,, about 69 decimal. I built a quiet box with fan and exhaust on wheels and it brings the noise down to around 50 decimal. Runs well,, powers my small fridge, multiple lights,, TV, Microwave,,, this is perfect for an emergency storms, blackouts,,, I like to be prepared. Don't know what the bad reviews appear to be. Mine is excellent! Sportsman is made by Honda, like Honda and Acura. Just make sure you add enough oil and change the oil after 20 hours of use- check to see how brown it is. Put an additive in the gas so the hose are clean and engine. Start it up once every other month,, let it run for 5 mins. Then pack it away until you really need it! Better prepared then not!

Quiet, which when camping is a pretty big deal. I go camping to unplug and enjoy the sounds of nature, except the birds at 5 am. This does what it's supposed to and doesn't cause hearing loss while doing it.

I purchased this because during the last summer we demo'ed my daughter's mobile home after a fire and a neighbor lent us his sportsman 2000 gas gen. We used that gen daily for about 3 months in pretty dusty dirty conditions and it performed beautifully. We ended up buying the neighbor a new sportsman due to the use we put on his and kept his old one. When we used it again it was great but one day stopped producing power. It would start up and run like a champ just no output. We tested all the usual things and it turned out to be the bearings in front of the stator/rotor assembly. Anyway I purchased my sportsman 4000 for a great price and started using it for remodel job again in fairly dusty conditions. I noticed a pinging type rattle noise in the same area as the bearing location in the old gen and pulled the end cap to find the bolts were loose that hold the rotor stator together and the bearing washer was showing damage around one edge. We greased the bearing assembly and tightened the bolts up and no more noise or further damage occurred. Basically GREAT GENERATORS FOR THE PRICE. I would just check that end cap and bolts and bearing assembly during heavy use it would be nice if there were actual access to properly grease the bearings because that's a weak spot in my opinion. Otherwise I highly recommend this generator for recreational and heavy duty performance.

Upon receipt it started right up, after putting in oil and gas. Purchased a camper pigtail (3 outlets) from the "orange" big box store.Hurricane Matthew came for a visit, generator ran refrigerator (1000 watts), freezer (1000 watts), window air conditioner (800 watts) (in the evening), microwave oven and lights. Not all running at the same time but spread out when needed. Tried to keep the watts around around 2500 or so.For health reasons, the generator was running outside, away from any opening into the house. Had 12 and 14 gauge extension cords everywhere.Great investment.

I bought this generator 7 months ago. It has worked flawlessly. It starts on first or second pull every time. I followed the directions and replaced the oil after the break in period. The power on/off button must be on to START the generator. Initially I thought that button was just to enable the power only. My mistake.I mainly use this to power a 1HP jet water pump and it does that fine.I think one reason this generator has held up well is that when I am done with it, I turn the gas off and let it die instead of letting the gas sit in the system.I wish this had a decent wheel kit though. This generator is a bit heavy to haul around for one person.UPDATE: 7/23/17This generator still starts easy with one or two pulls, even after sitting all winter. I love this little thing. It works great, without any issues.

This thing is great. I like to go camping with family, and this thing can handle it all. It has multiple power outlets, it’s strong enough to run several things at once. And it’s actually not that loud. I had it running maybe 75 ft from the camp, using extension cords, I had lights, fans, and a DVD player set up for my daughter and you could easily hear her show, without any extra speakers.It’s a little heavy, but buy the wheels kit, and you’ll be good to go.
