Fair deal on grain.
Despite title saying 4 lbs, this is actually a 5 lb bag of Rye. Received 7 days after day of order. Fair price including shipping for this quantity @$3/lb. Of course it went on sale right after I received it. Impossible to find rye flour here in NJ. Grind these berries into flour and you'll be eating rye bread in 14 hours! Just 2.5 hours to go to shape loaf. Edit: Was delicious! Need a smaller dutch oven to make the loaf 'stand up' more. This is a very sticky and unstructured dough, which is supposedly typical of a 50% rye flour, 50% bread flour blend.

Actually 5 lbs of grain
This product says 4lbs but they actually shipped 5 lbs. Which...is an awesome deal! The grain is high quality and the packaging is sturdy. Shipping was also quite fast. Thanks for a great product!

Hard to find item
I wanted to bake bread in my Z0Jirushi machine using some of this; soak first for a few days to soften up, maybe even boil slightly, then put into the recipe. My bread always comes out edible but NOT perfect! Be sure to store this item in frig/freezer as the bugs will find a way to get into the bag!

My mother-in-law makes the best rye bread there is with these rye berries!
What more can I say? Product met all my expectations. Of course it was grown in my home state of Iowa!

expect some impuritities.
Its my first time ordering several types of grains to grind into flour. This rye was first to arrive so points for prompt delivery but you could at least have put a sticker on it indicating its Rye, and perhaps your business name. I'm not impressed. I had to sort out chaff, mystery seeds, even a couple small rocks before grinding it. The package had no identifying info or nutrition content information like all the other grains I purchased from other sellers. Also, this stuff is more expensive than other grains but clearly not as high quality. The wheat I purchased had 2 tiny impurities in a 5 lb bag, looked like split peas but the wheat grains were plump and perfect, the barley and Spelt were pure, clean grain.

Won't sprout and is mixed with something?
These rye berries were shipped in a plastic bag without any identifiable markings. No company sticker, no content or description. No insert, invoice or receipt. After several attempts, they did not sprout. This is the first time I've ever had a problem with sprouting any grain. I also spent a good deal of time picking out long, black 'seed like' things that were mixed in. I hope they aren't what I've read about pertaining to rye crops. The remainder of this grain was dumped in the garbage and not outside. I wouldn't want wildlife or stray animals to get sick from ingesting these. I don't know what is wrong with it. Waste of money and time.
