Absolutely enlightening and breathtaking
I got this as a coffee table book, but I just keep picking it up to look at. I love the little stories inside and the history of each photo the artist has with the photo on each page. From proms to personal messages, she put it in. I also love seeing the families in here. So heart warming. The artists and message at the back of the book about each photo is also worth the buy. History we lose each day

Blast from the past well worth the investment
Boy, did this take me back. It is a little slice of the queer 70's and 80's, back in the bad old days when there were so many forces arrayed against us. Just saying that you were a lesbian was enough for you to lose your job, lose your housing lease, lose just about anything you cared about or needed. The women in these photos are brave, and JEB was about the only photographer that I knew of who was trying to document what it was to be a brave lesbian in those times. This hardback edition is a find for me.

Life Affirming, Life Changing
So glad to see JEB’s heart-opening photos back in print! Each time I open the book my eyes fall upon pride, struggle, deep love, and commitments to operating outside of the heterosexual world. These photos introduced a lesbian way of seeing and I am forever grateful!

This book made history. It's a travesty that its out-of-print.

Somewhat disappointed
Not sure what I expected but didn't really care for this. I thought there were very few pictures and overall did not enjoy.

Matrimoine lesbien!
Très belles photos, témoins d'une époque, avec des portraits de couples lesbiens très divers.Beau livre à offrir. Un peu de texte en anglais mais c'est avant tout livre de photos.

Fantastic
What an absolutely fantastic book. The photos are brilliant, so candid and so diverse, and must have been even more so when first published in the 70s before the internet. Love the essays and little comments too.
