Made my 1996 Trek 850 shift like new
Quality, lightweight choice for replacing a 7-speed Shimano rear cassette. Shifts great!I bought my Trek 850 mountain bike new in 1996. I've since converted it to a city bike. After thousands of miles, I replaced the worn chain, and the bike shifted WORSE with the new chain. The chain would jump under heavy pedaling. This meant the rear cassette was worn - caused by miles, grit, and a stretched out chain. I bought this item as a replacement.I'm thoroughly impressed. With the new chain and rear cassette, my bike shifts smooth and crisp like new.You will need a chain whip tool and a cassette lockring tool to install a cassette like this, or take it to your local bike shop and they can do it as well.

11-34T Photos
Haven't installed it yet but wanted to share some photos of the 11-34T. You'll only see 7 cogs since the 8th one - the smallest - is the also the lock ring. Mainly want to show the jump to the largest cog / lowest gear - the 34T. Just looking at the cassette, it's a big jump between 1st and 2nd gear, and I wonder if I should have stuck with the 32T. I'll try and come back with some impressions after several rides, but thought it would be helpful to just add the photos for others to consider

Great Shimano cassette.
I replaced my Chinesium wheelset that had a freewheel with one that is equipped with a freehub so I needed a cassette. This Shimano cassette is exactly what I needed. The gearing is perfect for my intended purpose, road riding. Shifts like any Shimano part, quick and dependable. Love it!

The 11T-28T gearing is great for relatively flat rides.
Moved from 14-28 to this 11-28 on my road/commuter bike in an area with relatively flat terrain. I can now take advantage of times I feel energetic without having to spin a lot, and use middle gears for the slight hills and not-so-slight headwinds. Shifting is clean and quick. I am currently using this cassette with spacers on an 11speed hub and Tourney derailleurs with no issues.

Nice upgrade
I used this in a project rebuilding a bike for my son. It replaced a 13-28T 7 speed. Very happy to have that option for the small ring and a little more top speed when you need it. The second ring provides 13 T so the 11 is just there as an option. I never understood why they didnt increase the range of the sprockets when they went from 5 to 7,8 or 9. I never felt like I had an issue with to big a jump on the middle, I just always wanted more range on the edges. This sprocket gives a bit of that range. The old cassette had been mistreated and was in bad shape. With the proper toolsย Park Tool Cassette/Rotor Lockring Removal Tool - FR-5/FR-5GSunlite Sprocket Remover/Pedal Wrench ย it was a snap to swap out the old cartridge and install a new one.Be careful make sure you need a Cassette and not a Freewheel. I made the mistake of ordering a Freewheel first when I needed a Cassette. If the splines turn with the sprocket when spun backwards it is a Cassette [...]. With this Cassette new shifters and a new chain the bike is like new and shifts perfectly.

Excellent cassette for my mid-90s Trek MultiTrack hybrid bike
Excellent cassette for my mid-90s Trek MultiTrack hybrid bike. I ride city streets nearly every day, and I let my chain get too stretched. I replaced the chain and immediately regretted it, because the new chain jumped off the sprockets of my three favorite rear gears--always at the least opportune times.I bought this cassette and dropped it in where the old one was, and with a slight adjustment of the derailleur, I was back in action with a fully-funcional bike. Super easy DIY repair if you have a cassette-pulling tool and about 15 minutes to get it all set up after.

Great cassette, solid construction.
Excellent product, rock solid. I'm so happy to have a 34 on the back now. I installed this for the steep hills I, literally, could not climb before.Cassettes nowadays are generally all the same solid material, no need to spend more than this on a good quality cassette unless you are a contender to win the Tour De France. This is a great solid product and goes on easily if you have the right tool. Don't hesitate, buy this now.

Great and inexpensive
I'm very happy with this purchase.I put it on a 1997 Specialized Rockhopper. The original was pretty worn out, as was the wheel to which it was mounted. When I broke spokes and replaced the wheels, I replaced the cassette at the same time. Most wheels are sized for 8/9 speed cassettes, so if you're doing a 7-speed, you'll need a spacer that will slide onto the splined wheel hub first (to the inside of the cassette). Amazon sells them.Anyway, my old bike shifts great with this cassette. Very pleased, and can't beat the price.

Good value but not the cassette pictured.
Be aware when buying this cassette, it is not the cassette pictured in the description. This is a โmega rangeโ cassette, so instead of having a smooth increase in cog size it goes up more slowly and then has a large jump to the lower gear.Depending where you normally ride within the cassette this may not suit your ride style, and this cassette is not compatible with all 8 speed Shimano gearing systems so may cause you issues with installation and day to day running.A good cassette and a good price, but only if you know what you are buying.

Good if you want the lowest gear available but there is a bit of a jump to the next gear
This has the most teeth you can get on an 8 speed gear so gives you the lowest gear. On mine I get 1:1 as the main chain wheel is also 34 teeth. There is a double step to the next lowest gear so I do find myself changing up and then down again on some hills. It's good for getting up the really steep hills like the bottom of Cheddar Gourge ie 25%. If you stand up with 1:1 gearing you do need to push down carefully on the pedals and have fairly good balancing to avoid falling sideways at such low speeds. Note the 34T just seems to mean 34 teeth with the T not meaning anything in particular.

Good shifting and the 11-32T is DEFINIETELY the cassette you want
Unless you really, REALLY, need the 34 tooth wheel, do not get the 11-34 - the jump between first (34) and second (26) is huge. This cassette has a 32 to 28 tooth jump between 1st and 2nd, respectively, and you really feel the faster shift because the spacing isn't as large. It's a pretty straightforward cassette, shifts good and never skips with a KMC 8.93 chain. Was looking at Deore XT (M737) or XTR (M900 or M950), but I couldn't justify it for the price difference.Glad I went with this one.
