This product really calms me down in the evening and helps me feel ready for bed.

This has been my first time using 5htp for sleep and its had a noticable effect. Sleep onset is faster and I seem to spend more time in REM since I'm having much more vivid and memorable dreams. I'll keep taking these for a while and then ween off to see if i notice any decline in sleep quality coming off them. I have been taking this with a GABA supplement so I cant say for sure whether the sleep quality increase is from this, the gaba, or a synergistic effect. Research studies point to it being a combined effect though. One thing to note though is i did get some stomach upset from them. Nothing severe, but definitely noticable from about 30 to 90 minutes after taking a full capsule when i first got them. Easy solution was to pop open the capsule and dump out about 1/4 of the powder, then close it and take the capsule. I did this for about 2 weeks and then stepped up to the full capsule. By that point my system had gotten used to it and I no longer had any stomach upset.

NOW Foods GABA, L-Tryptophan, 5-HTP, Taurine, I take all of these daily now. Enhances my overall mood, attitude, outlook on life, and energy levels. I simply feel better taking these supplements. Helps me through the depressing winter months. For myself, I find that these are best taken on an empty stomach with a cup of coffee in the morning, and then I won't eat for an hour afterwards. Then I might take again at around 6 PM, as I typically don't eat dinner until 8 PM. Good stuff, good quality. Repeat customer.

This product is great I’ve used it for 2 yrs now and I love it make me sleep like a baby the migraines are gone I feel like my brain takes a break with this product even when I have fatigue and headache takes it away highly recommended !!

I've been using 5-HTP right around 3 1/2 months for anxiety. Before I started taking it, I would have anywhere from 10-15 panic episodes a month. Since I've started taking 5-HTP, I maybe have 3-4 a month, if that. I won't lie, Ativan more effective, especially at the onset of a panic attack. But taken every day, darn near eliminates the need for prescription anti anxiety meds for me personally ( obviously everyone is different) . Not only has it drastically cut the amount of panic episodes I have, but It has also cut the general anxiety I felt by at least 80, without the use of prescription drugs like Ativan and Xanax( which as everyone knows, can be addictive and habit forming, not to mention all the side effects). I take 2 200 mg pills in the morning, afternoon and before bed. I was very weary about buying this particular brand because I've never heard of them, not to mention all the bogus perfect reviews. I can honestly say the 5-HTP from NOW is as good as the 5-HTP sold by natrol, sundown and natures bounty, but at a much better price. The reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is because of the size of the pills( natrol are half the size) and the fact these arint time released ( I've found I have to take an extra dose a day). If you've been having issues with anxiety and want to try something all natural, I would most definitely give 5-HTP a shot ( don't expect it to work the first time you take it, it took about 3 days for me to really feel a difference)

For me, this is by far the most effective brand of 5-htp. Since everyone is different, I am not sure if others will experience the same, but it far exceeds Jarrow and Natrol for me. I didn't think it would matter, but since I need a high dose and saw the 200mg at the store I thought I'd give it a shot. In the past, 5-htp has been a challenge for me. I need quite a lot of it but generally large amounts make me very sick to my stomach. I have both tried this with food and on an empty stomach and the effect is the same for me and gastro side effects lower with food. In general, over time 5-htp has had a positive impact on my attitude and mood, but usually I have a really great initial response that I can feel right away only to have it dull considerably in a couple of weeks. Again, it hasn't happened. I have taken prescriptions in the past and this beats those by a million miles. Also, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in my late teens and given pharma antidepressants which did nothing. I shrugged off the fibro thing and added it to the heap of diagnoses I'd started accumulating. I went along living with extreme body pain daily for over 20 years trying stuff here and there to get some relief. A couple of hours after I take this, I feel loose. I cannot say how another body will react, how much someone else should take, etc., but for me, this has been an incredible gift, which seems crazy but is true! Here's hoping this is helpful for you too!

Very good product

I have been taking NOW 5-htp for about two years now, and I can say that they have made a positive difference in my mood and sleep, but don't see any changes to my appetite. I take one pill at night right before bed. The directions recommend taking on an empty stomach, but I don't notice any difference taking the pill after I've eaten. I've tried the NOW 100 mg vs this NOW 200 mg and don't notice any difference. Since the price was quite similar, I decided to take this dosage going forward.
