Teach Me Writing: Learn handwriting, a companion to The Reading Lesson book (The Reading Lesson series)

Good companion to the Reading Lesson
I didn't buy this at first but after going through the first lesson of the Reading Lesson Teach your child to read in 20 easy lessons I decided to. We are going slow and finishing each lesson in about 2-3 weeks because I want my child to really learn the content. We typically work through half a page to a page per day then do a line or two in this book. This helps to get the letter sounds to stick as I have her say the sound as she writes the letter. So far we're halfway through lesson 2 and she's able to read words like cat, sat, tom, dad, mom. I'm really happy with this program and hope to have it finished by kindergarten.

Fantastic
My 5 year old learned to read and write using this book. Took her a long time, but she did it

This is really working!
The book is well thought out and organized. I bought the workbook also. Because of the pandemic, I began homeschooling my autistic 8yr old grandson this summer. He was never exposed to actually reading and was unable to read until now. What a thrill to see him progressing through these lessons and feeling so proud!

Forced to buy.
I bought this because I bought the reading programme and everywhere it says you need this book to go with it. We've hardly used it and I think it's unnecessary. There's also a few opportunities to write in the reading book anyway and combine that with a notepad and that's all you need. Reading book is excellent though!

Highly Recommended!! You will not regret it!
I absolutely love this writing book and use it as a companion to 'The Reading Lesson: Teach your child to read in 20 easy lessons' (I highly recommend that book as well. It's an absolute must buy in my opinion. I buy it as a gift for all my friends with young children.) This writing book reinforces the sounds and words taught in the reading book, I find this has improved my children's spelling and independent writing. My son's kindergarten teacher stressed the importance of using writing as a tool to learn reading and that it exponentially increases memory retention and reinforces learning dramatically. I have my children read 3 or 4 pages in the reading book and then they complete 1 or 2 pages in the writing book afterwards. I also do a short dictation of some keys towords the end of a lesson. I never write reviews but I had to make an exception.Note: My oldest son was in SK when I started and his grade 1 teacher was extremely impressed with his reading at the start of the school year. He was in the top 3 of best readers in his grade 1 class, coming from bottom 5 in SK.My youngest son was JK when we started, he also went from a mediocre reader into the top 5 readers in his SK class.
