Comfortable and easy. Less painful periods!
Despite a high pain tolerance and having 3 kids, I have always been squeamish about tampons and used pads most of my life. About 4 months ago I started using tampons but I have heavy periods and the cost of a couple boxes or non toxic ones every month, plus nighttime pads, was breaking the bank, so i decided to give this a try - the gold standard for non tox, sustainability, and budget. I was expecting it to be really hard to remove but it was actually quite easy. It’s comfortable, holds a lot (I was bleeding through a super plus tampon on 4 hours on heavy days, and this lasted me about 8 and was only 3/4 full). Here are my highlights: -it made my periods LESS PAINFUL. I have had 5 periods postpartum with my third child. They make me wish for pregnancy again. They have been so heavy, so painful, just agonizingly miserable from start to finish. And I have a downward and outward pushing sensation the entire time, like my uterus is trying to crawl out of my body. Probably a sign my pelvic floor is weaker this time around. But when I wear this cup, that feeling is GONE. I was comfortable and even forgot I had a period for most of the week, and lest you think it’s my hormones balancing (like I also suspected), on the last day I wore a panty liner with no cup, and the sensation was back. It’s like the cup offered me some mild splinting and support. So if you have this feeling during you periods, see a pelvic floor therapist. But also buy this cup. You will be rejoicing. -it can shift and leak during workouts, especially if it’s very full. I started emptying it before workouts with no issue. But other than that, I didn’t experience leakage. -a few times it didn’t expand all the way when I inserted it, and few minutes later it popped all the way open on its own. This is good news and bad news: it’s a sharp and sudden sensation for a split second when it fully opens. But it’s reassuring to know that at least in my experience, it’s never had a faulty seal that caused leaking (other than when working out). I have a retroflexed uterus, which can make using a cup more challenging for some. But this cup is plenty soft enough for me, and I find that the easiest angle for inserting is while on the toilet rather than in the shower as some recommend. It holds so much. Like I mentioned, I have very heavy periods lately and using disposable products was getting too expensive, I just went through a ridiculous amount. I am convinced that I could wear this cup for close to a full 12 hours even on my heaviest days, and—one of the best parts—it’s safe to wear all night long.

Life-Changing & Mess-Free Sex: Very Positive Review from a Nervous Skeptic Turned Firm Believer!!!
5 stars all the way! I cannot express how game-changing this disc is. Here’s an overwhelmingly positive review from a certified internet-researching skeptic! I am finally FREE from period worries & stress! Within 24 hours of using this product, I KNEW my period life was forever changed. I’m now on period number 3 of using it and I can’t find the words to express how life-changing this disc has been for me. No more worrying about bleeding through tampons or having to time my bathroom breaks every 1-2 hours to make sure I would be ok while I’m at work. No more uncomfortable cramping from tampons or worrying about if I have enough tampons on me when my period decides to show up on its irregular schedule. No more spending $1,000+ a year on dumb period products because being a woman is a scam and these necessary materials aren’t provided to women for free like they should be. This is literally a “set it and forget it” kind of situation. It’s also true to the claim this product makes: this is truly a mess-free period sex solution! I am beyond amazed at how little mess there is, and it’s still easy to remove afterward to clean and replace. Definitely wash and replace after sex! I will note the following things to be mindful of: - I do feel like I need to pee more often, but not overwhelmingly so or a worrisome amount more. I think it’s more that the disc is filling up, so I feel like I need to go more often. There’s a *very* slight pressure, but everyone is different and I barely notice it at all especially compared to how noticeable tampons are for me. You can auto-dump (empty the disc without removal by bearing down) very easily throughout the day when you use the bathroom (the first time I did it I didn’t even mean to, but now that I know how easy it is it’s such a relief and has no mess afterward). It’s also kind of interesting to visually see and know how much is in the disc as my period progresses so I know in the future if anything seems abnormal. - It is very easy to remove and replace the disc. I wear it all day for 12 hours and then overnight for the same. In the morning it can be a little more difficult to remove, but if you sit up/stand and walk around for 5-10 minutes and loosen up your muscles it becomes much easier to remove. I usually get out of bed and get ready for my day or read a chapter of a book (~10 minutes of not lying down), then remove and wash/replace it and it’s a breeze. - I’ve found that if you break the seal the disc makes throughout the day when removing it by pinching the lip of the disc between two fingers to pull it out it’s pretty easy to remove. Just stay calm and breathe deeply; it will never get lost inside and can always be removed. Pro-tip: Wash your hands with the pH soap and leave your fingers wet for removal and replacement! It makes everything so, so much easier to do. Side-notes on other Saalt purchases: - I’ll be picking up the smaller (Coral) version of this disc for use during the last half of my period, as I don’t feel I need the larger size past the first 2-3 days and think it will alleviate the feeling of having to pee as much. - I purchased the pH-balanced soap that Saalt sells, and it’s amazing. I am insanely sensitive/allergic to almost every kind of soap on the market, and this doesn’t bother me at all. I’m allergic to fragrance and sulfates, so I was initially worried about the scent it has but it doesn’t cause me any allergies and actually smells really nice and is incredibly faint. Highly recommend this wash! A little goes a long way so the value is great too. - I also purchased the Saalt steamer because I am very lazy and don’t want to boil the disc before and after my cycle. The first one I bought was broken, but my quick and easy replacement has worked wonders since. Highly recommend picking it up! - I’ll be picking up the compact travel sanitizer case to carry my disc with me on days I’m expecting my period to maybe start and for the just-in-case situations where I need to clean it on the go but don’t have an easily accessible private bathroom. It took a little getting used to for learning how to remove the disc easily (1-2 days), and it can be kind of messy the first 2-3 days. It definitely wasn’t nearly as difficult to learn to use as my internet researching lead me to believe, so definitely try it out if you’re interested and don’t be hesitant if you’re afraid of a learning curve. I do wish there was a slightly better lip for removal on the disc but it’s pretty decent and if there was more to grab on to I think it might make wearing it less comfortable during the day so they’ve struck a pretty perfect balance here. I remove mine over the toilet and it’s really not bad at all! I really can’t recommend this product enough! I’ve told all my female friends about it and now they’ve all switched to using it and can’t stop raving about how it’s changed their life and thanking me for the recommendation! :) I don’t write many reviews - I’m a 10-hours of research on the internet and reddit for any purchase I make and highly skeptical of reviews kind of gal. I’m here writing this with the hope that I can ease the minds of anyone who has done the internet research and is still on the fence from the handful of reviews that say menstrual discs are difficult to use and require a long learning curve. It took me less than 48 hours to master how to use this disc and I will never ever ever go back to using any other period product for the rest of my life. Good luck & happy periods ladies!! :)

Comfortable, reliable, and a great alternative with an IUD
I absolutely love this product. I was a bit hesitant at first because it seemed larger and I was unsure about the fit. I recently got an IUD and could no longer use a menstrual cup due to suction, so I decided to try this as an alternative. I am so glad I did. It is much more comfortable than tampons and I have noticed a reduction in cramping when using it. It holds a good amount and I find it easy to empty when needed (auto dumping, look it up!), at least for my anatomy. There can be a bit of a learning curve, and it can be slightly messy when inserting or removing, but as long as you have access to wash your hands it is not a big issue. I have been able to wear it for a full day (12+ hours) without leaks and with complete peace of mind. I sometimes use a liner as backup, but I have not really needed it. The material is soft and flexible, and it is easy to clean. The ring is sturdy and makes removal simple. Overall, this has been a game changer for me and I would highly recommend it, especially for anyone with an IUD or looking for a more comfortable option.

Impressive Product
So far so good for this Saalt brand Menstrual Cup. The color of the cup and overall packaging is cute, material is thick, feels well-made (including the carry bag), and instructions are easy to understand. I was worried about the size of the mouth even when the cup is rolled up but the female body is amazing and can withstand a lot. I’m a first time cup user so my biggest challenge is more mental than physical. I birthed two children naturally and went with a regular size. You feel a slight pressure in the beginning very similar to when you first put on a tampon. Once the cup has properly adjusted to your body, the pressure subsides and it’s so comfortable you can’t even feel it. You can squat, walk, lay down, and the suction remains in place undisturbed. I wore this overnight for the first time, emptied and cleaned it in the morning, and continued to wear it for an 8-hour work day. No issues and no spotting whatsoever. The cup comes with a tail on the bottom so it’s easy to locate for removal but it’s instinctively difficult to not pull on as instructed. Even when using my pelvic muscles to push the cup out, the bottom of the cup is so thick that it’s hard to grip and pinch. I discovered that using a little toilet tissue to pinch the bottom will give you a better grip for removal versus using a clean, bare hand. Overall I’m pleased with the cup’s performance and think it’s worth the price if the item lasts as intended. It would be a good idea to own at least 2-4 simply for convenience. I’d give this product five stars if Saalt redesigned the bottom to have a durable, flat pull feature like a thick tab or finger indents with sensory dots.

GYN PA-C and Body-aware girl approved!!
I waited to write this until after three-four months of use, but I knew after the first use, that this was a game changer. I’m going to share my experience below as well. I’m at an advantage knowing pelvic anatomy, but knowing where your pubic bone is and what it feels like is the name of the game. The disc tucks up right underneath your pubic bone and then stays in by sitting on top of it. Just as in the instructions. (Videos and diagrams can help you orient yourself.) This is what keeps the disc right in place. Once you can identify how surprisingly “shallow” your pubic bone is to your V, it should slip right into place. I inserted it for the first time completely distracted and it went perfectly into place. I didn't struggle at all. I highly recommend a water-based lube, or my fav, coconut oil, to make the insertion a little easier. After inserting it for the first time (has never happened since), I experienced the mildest form of light headedness, similar to what I experienced during an IUD insertion. This can be normal and it’s called a vasovagal reaction. I just sat and waited until it passed and I was all set to go for 12 hours. Again, it hasn’t happened since the first time, I attribute part of it to jitters. Wearing it during the day was luxurious, I feel it less than a tampon. Genuinely, I don’t feel it at all. There’s no string that can cause irritation, and I was never worried about leakage. No odor. No concerns in a bathing suit. Admittedly, Ive forgotten it was even in and was late for draining. The only time i even think about it is when I'm putting it in or taking it out. By far the best, most comfortable, and most reliable period product I've tried. I still experience the same amount of cramping as I did before, but I’ve heard of others saying it helped theirs. That’s not my experience unfortunately. Removal….. this can absolutely be scary, and I even got worried myself the first time. It’s best to do it in the shower. The self emptying on the toilet works, I just prefer avoiding the mess entirely and time my showers. In my experience, there is some suctioning. The best advice I can give during removal is to remain relaxed and not tense up your body. If you can’t get it out the first few tries, do some breathing and go at it once you get your body relaxed and your confidence back up. It’s designed to come out and it will. Finding the lip on the disc may require some spinning. For me, the best way I have found to remove is getting down in a half squat position, feeling the lip of the disc, hooking it with your finger, and BEARING DOWN. I used all caps because mine does not come out without bearing down. Finding your pubic bone is helpful for this step as well because you won’t get the disc out by forcing against your bone, it has to glide around it. Once it’s out I rinse in the hot shower water and put it back in. I boil it prior to each period. There’s a technique with this product and every body is different, but I hope my experience can help someone else. There’s a learning curve to it, but I promise it’s worth the investment of your time and money. I haven’t picked up a tampon since using this product, and I’ve put a couple of my coworkers on it as well (they also love it). Other thoughts: - From an infection standpoint, this product seems much better to use than something that can harbor bacteria more easily, like tampons. - The disc may offer some help in women with mild urinary incontinence. I have occasional bladder spasms and I haven’t had one since using the disc. - I am not a doctor, and if you do have other inquiries, it’s always best to consult YOUR doctor. All in all, this is BY FAR my favorite period product and I will not be going back to anything else.

Does the job but IMPOSSIBLE to remove!
Every gal I know who uses menstrual cups loves them. After hearing about it for the umpteenth time, I decided it was time to order one of my own. Saalt comes nicely packaged, with instructions for use and sterilization and a little bag to keep it in. Insertion wasn't horribly difficult. It took a few twists to get it to open, and I leaked a small amount the first hour, but then it was all good. I have very heavy periods, and I had it in for eight hours with no leaks! Color me impressed! After the 8 hours, I get home and go to remove it. It's up there. WAY up there, I can barely feel it. The instructions say not to pull the tab, so I set about trying to pinch the damn cup to get it to un-suction and release. After about ten desperate minutes I'm able to twist it out - no mess, full cup - I dumped, cleaned and replaced. Not so bad, I think, I can do this! I go to a work event, and come back two hours later and try to remove it again. I thought it was up there before, but now it's almost gone. The Saalt cup is latched to my cervix like a starved leech. Try as I might, I cannot get it to come out. I can BARELY reach the cup with my fingers. I pull on the string, no bueno. At this point I'm starting to worry I'll have to go to the ER for the humiliating task of removal. So I call my fiance upstairs and tell him I have a very unfortunate task I need his assistance with. Now we're BOTH trying our damnedest to remove this thing. No luck. He's close to tears. I'm close to tears. The dog is standing nervously in the doorway, unsure how to help. Finally, in a fit of part rage, part distress, I grab the tab and I pull as hard as I can. It feels like it's pulling my entire uterus with it. Right as I'm about to give up hope - POP - it un-suctions and flies out, dropping what can only be described as a bomb of blood all over my bathtub. My fiance almost fell in his hasty retreat from the bathroom. It's been four days, and he still won't look me in the eye. It does what it's supposed to, but at what cost? I'll be experimenting next with the ones that have a hoop for "easy removal." TL;DR - you won't leak for hours, but you'll need the strength of the Hulk or digits like Salad Fingers to remove it. It's also worth mentioning I felt like it, for lack of a better word, "clogged" me up after it got full - maybe my fault for not dumping it throughout the day. EDIT: after a year of use and experimenting with other cups (frankly, this is the only one that does not regularly have leakage), I'm adding the final star. As many others have said, using this cup takes practice. Insertion and removal are both fairly easy (I do sometimes have to fish around, but nothing like before). If you're looking at other cups, just take it from me... this is the best you're gonna get.

Couldn't Get It Out !!!!!!!
Couldn’t Get It Out!!! I thought I’d finally found my cup. They seem to be either too small, too big or too hard, which led me to the Saalt Soft Cup. It was great all day. I literally didn’t feel a thing all day. I loved it until I got home and wanted it out. Hours later, I was still trying and husband ultimately had to help me with its final removal. Days later, I’m still sore from the trauma of the many attempts to break the seal. I think I either pushed it too far back in the canal or it is just too small or too soft for me. It may have moved during the day? Either way, my fingers could barely reach the groves and I couldn’t get enough of it to squeeze and break the seal. Visions of an embarrassing trip to the ER kept playing in my head! Fortunately, husband’s fingers are longer than mine! I won’t be trying again. More money down the drain. I am very disappointed since it was so comfortable. Not sure what I’ll try next. Maybe just stick to tampons for a while. 3 stars for the comfort and others may find removal easier than I did. But due to the panic caused I think I’m being very generous with the stars.

110% worth it if it fits you!!
Before committing to a reusable disc, I decided to try the disposable Softdiscs. While I tried multiple times I never felt like I could get the discs all the way in, and could never seem to “pop” it into place behind the public bone like so many people describe. Once it was in, it would only stay for a few hours and eventually try to eject itself. While it was in, it would cause mild discomfort with mild cramp-like feelings sometimes (I don’t usually get cramps). It wasn’t reliable enough and was definitely leaking, I was beginning to loose hope I would ever be able to use the miracle discs I’ve been researching. Luckily, I decided to give the Saalt disc regular a shot. I was hoping the standard 66m would be enough of a size down to fit better than the 69mm Softdiscs since mm seem to make all of the difference in this case. The silicon is also much less firm than the rigid plastic that I originally thought would make the Softdisc easier to use. Whatever combination of those factors luckily made the Saalt disc the seemingly perfect fit for me! Luckily, discs in general seem to be less finicky than cups for finding good fits. I considered going with the smaller version, but am glad I chose the regular to try first, as I heard going too small can also cause poor fit and leakage (not the end of the world). I did hear their customer service can be great though which is part of what convinced me to try Saalt first (can’t attest to this myself though). Now that I have this disc, my periods feel like they’re almost nonexistent. Of course, everyone’s experiences are different, but I don’t usually have much else than the blood to deal with, so this disc is a game changer. I deal with it 2-3 times a day and forget I’m on my period for the rest. I don’t feel it at all once inserted, no cramps or anything. The only time I feel it is when I am bearing down/auto-dumping. As people tend to say, I find this far and above any other products I’ve used (pads and tampons) and it’s reusable, potentially for years! 3 cycles in and I can’t recommend it enough. I only need to wear liners and even then it’s just to be extra safe. No string, no discomfort, no smell. Makes sleeping SO clean compared to wearing pads (I never wore tampons overnight). Plus, you don’t have to perfectly estimate the rate of your flow that day/hour to use it. Removing “early” is not a thing like it is with tampons. Despite my troubles with the disposable Softdiscs, figuring out the Saalt disc was really easy. People say there’s a learning curve, and that’s true, but lucky for me, it wasn’t as steep as I imagined, and trust me I was the opposite of confident going into this. For me, it’s not as obvious when it’s secured behind the pelvic bone as how others sometimes describe it, but I do make sure to push it as far as it can go and ensure it’s not in the canal and that seems to be enough. Occasionally i can feel it “pop” open. I have inserted it once when it didn’t seem to work where I imagine it got caught in front of the cervix or something. Now, I just make sure to insert it pointing towards the floor as much as I can and it works every time so far. As for removal, i can’t always do it in two seconds, but I’m never worried it’s stuck. It barely spins around for me, so the notch is almost always in reach, but when it’s not, i don’t find it difficult to spin it around until it is. I’m not really sure how easy it would be without the notch though. One time, I struggled with it when it was stuck behind my pubic bone and pulling would just push it into the bone more. I just had to push the whole disc the opposite direction of the bone to maneuver it a bit and then try to pull a few more times. The only thing I have against this disc is the ridges it has on the inside. While not a real issue, it makes me have to clean it a bit more carefully before storing. The ridges for grip in the tab make sense, but the waves inside the disc are only for aesthetics. I’d be happy without them. This disc may not be the best choice for everyone, but if it fits you, it’s perfect. I will never go back to other products for my primary choice if I can help it. It honestly feels like a miracle that this product was created, it’s reusable, and that I can use it.

Consiglio a tutte. Mai più senza.

My wife's happy choice
My wife is very happy with this cup. First cup was too firm and small for her, it was leaking. This cup doesn't leak, it is not too soft and not too firm. She said, It opens easily inside, and she doesn't feel it during the day. However she said it is very hard do choose your individual size, so she recommends to watch instruction on You Tube before you make your choice, there is one channel that helped her a lot, and explained all the things she had questions about. They also offer there a quiz (test) at the end of the test you will get recommendations, which cup to choose. All in all - very nice softness, shape and handle.

My favorite cup so far, only..
I love these salt cups, only I’ve purchased the set three times already and the smaller size always tears when I am pulling out after 3-6 months of having it. I am gentle of course however I haven’t had this issue with any other cup. I’ve moved on to a more durable one which works although I wish I could keep using the Saalt ones due to softness, shape and aesthetic. If they improved the end I would recommend to everyone.

For me maybe for you if you are my vagina twin
This cup works for me, you need to know yourself as much as you can and understand cups a lot to get one that works really well. I have a high cervix and though this isn’t the longest cup I can reach it to remove in a certain position, which works for me. The stem is a soft kind, some review this as bad but it’s not bad for it’s intended purpose at all, it’s meant to be soft so you cannot feel it by your public bone or creating any friction, for this reason, if you need a firm large stem to grip and wiggle you will find it way too small and soft so this cup & saalt in general isn’t for you! It’s very bendy because the stem isn’t meant to be pulled straight down, you find it, pinch and slowly wiggle left then slowly wiggle right and repeat as you pinch further up the stem until you find the base, once there you reach in further to pinch the base and wait for the suction to release and then wiggle gently to remove the cup. It has 30ml capacity (I got the regular for high cervix) meaning I can have long gaps between changing on my heavy day, once sealed I don’t leak at all nor has it ever unsealed it’s self. I do lots of physical housework and exercise and yoga in my cup, I shower and bathe with it, bowel movements also don’t move it but this could be different for you. For reference I go 12 hours on a light day, and sleep between changes, and go 6-8 hours on a heavy day and sleep between changes (all white sheets but Im not afraid it’s genuinely never let me down once sealed) On the subject of me choosing the regular size, I don’t have a heavy period for more than one day, I’ve not had a baby, I’m 24, I have a high cervix. The small is only 5ml less capacity but the base of the cup sits higher in you so this is why the regular is recommended for higher cervix users. The cup is one of the better to insert as it’s soft and silky. Once in I wait for the pop (Proper seal created) instead of poking around up there, usually happens between 1m and 30m after insertion. Some people do reach up and try to make it happen but this is a softer cup meaning it may not instantly pop open and seal for you. But i find it’s fast enough with low effort from me to work well for me. This cup being soft is good for sensitive bladders or if you’ve had firmer before and felt it when you shouldn’t, mine figuratively disappears once the seal is made, I feel some fullness until it seals. The product itself is great quality silicone, cleans well and feels great, if cups were a thing to show off I would parade around with this grey beauty outside of my body rather than in it 😂. Packaging is all cardboard minus one disk of plastic which is easily removed for recycling.
