My Mum is 90 and the optician recommended a handheld reader to help with magazines and books. The brand recommended was over £60 but this seemed to offer the same functionality and get good reviews.I can confirm it is very good and does the job well. The lights are particularly good in dim conditions and the magnification is useful. A lower-cost alternative to the expensive (German?) brand that works just as well.

The glass seems good, solid quality. The light is dimmable and really bright. The magnification is excellent, and covers a large area, in a reading-friendly rectangle. And a pocket magnifier came with it, as a bonus!. Really impressed and pleased. Oh, and it charges through USB so no batteries to worry about. A really successful purchase!

A useful magnifying glass for more than just reading. The LED's are bright enough to be a decent wide angle torch too. Been using it for three weeks now and haven't needed to charge it since opening the box.The lens is big, however there is a bit of distortion across it so only a small part of it is in focus at anyone time. It's perfect for reading small print, but I don't think I'd want to read for any length of time with it.Happy with it though, it's just a very handy thing to have.

I realised that in the last few years it has become increasingly difficult to read small or faint print when the light is not good enough and I needed help. I did use a friend's German-made reading light but it was far more costly than I wanted to pay for something I use only occasionally. There are plenty of cheap ones but I was not convinced they would be satisfactory.I was taken with the features of this light - rechargeable, dimmable and a convenient shape and size. It is solidly built and I am hoping this means that it will last. The only drawback is that it is quite heavy but I suppose you can't have everything and I would certainly recommend it. It even comes with its own drawstring bag and cleaning cloth.

I have tried many magnifiers before some not so bad and sone rubbish but I can honestly say that this one is the best on the market, comfortable to hold, excellent brightness and magnification plus added bonus of being rechargeable. Wholly recommend this product.

Bought this to help my elderly mother who has macular degeneration. It WAS brilliant, until it stopped charging after nine months. The charging connector is simply too flimsy and a great risk of failing. (More modern versions are now USB C). There seems to be no warranty available, I have contacted the manufacturer Magnipros directly. They are a US manufacturer and despite supposedly having pride in their product and Customer Service, they offer ZERO warranty to customers outside of the USA and refused to help further. My mother is very upset and frustrated that she doesn’t get any support about this failure. I had to buy a new unit which was expensive and I’ve just discovered there is zero warranty on that as well!! Very poor service, be warned!

Looks uncomfortable to hold, but is actually well designed, including keeping the lens from getting scratched when put down on tables etc

My 92 year old Dad has poor vision and was finding it extremely difficult to read books and newspapers. Having read Amazon reviews I purchased this magnifier. He is delighted with this product finds it comfortable to hold and easy to use.I like the fact it is rechargeable with a long battery life and the display lights are adjustable by a wheel on the handle a game changer for my Dad recommended.
