If you get an alert
Well the device is great, even though It wasn’t the one I ordered, I order one that says Netgear on the device, I received the one that said ATT logo. At first it took the SIM card from the other vendor ISP company, but it failed to connect to the WiFi internet, it gave me an alert that set check your settings. 🤔. I tired to contact Netgear, the SIM card vender, and even contact ATT support. What a waste of time, contacting these folks. I did research in the internet and I was able to fix the Alert. Apparently the device was still with the a ATT APN, I had to change it to the sim vender, which worked and got connected to the SIM card vender wifi internet. So folks if you brought a device like mine, once you are able to install the SIM card and get an alert first go to settings, look for APN and if it has the APN from the original vender, add the new APN from the sim vender, that will make it work for you. Over all the device works fast and able to get all bars meaning it get good and fast wifi internet connection.

Does not connect to broadband easily
It fails to connect to the ATT wireless network out of the box. I inserted a sim card, it has data paid, and hotspot doesn't connect to the internet. I have my phone next to the router, phone is able to connect to the router but router itself doesn't connect using sim card.SIM card works, I tested it by sending text messages to it. I was able to see those test sms on mywebui.net.I also inserted the card to the phone to test and I was able to get data.User manual is misleading. It says to install an app Nighthawk and after installation the app says it doesn't support this device.User manual says ask community for support.I had to register with Netgear, spent lots of time waiting for an agent to chat, then more time to troubleshoot the router. It took half a day total to fix it.I had to connect the phone to the router that didn't have internet connection. Then on the phone with no internet connection went to ROUTERLOGIN.NETentered admin login for the router. Then poked around, got to Settings> Router>BASIC>DNS and set it from automatic to manual. And then entered DNS 8.8.8.8 and another DNS 8.8.4.4After that router reloaded and connected to wireless. Why this is not in the user guide or manual?!! I downloaded the full manual and it is not there. Just because all these trouble I will give this device one star. This is the first day I use it and I am not sure how long it will last.

Better than I hoped
Got it used and it was in better condition than I had though. It works great. Tested it with Google Fi phone sim and it was able to detect it after changing the settings on the device. It was able to register the google fi sim and get a signal without Gfi complete setup, but I finished the setup using my phone. I also signed up for Google data and am waiting for the sim to arrive to test.Currently happy with the product. The big test will be when I travel out of country. To be continued.——-Update (one month later): traveling out of the US and using the googlefi data sim. At first the sim didn’t want to connect, but after checking on the configuration and allowing roaming, it worked like a charm! Enjoyed having access in Germany, Belgium, and Netherlands. Glad I purchased it.

Simple to use although battery life could be better
We bought this for a recent trip to Guatemala. AT&T wanted to charge us $10 per day per line, for our 4 lines and 10 day vacation that was $400. Bought this instead and once in Guatemala bough a chip with 40Gb of data for less than $50. This was a life saver, we even were able to connect our toddler's fire tabled and at one point shared internet with family and friends. We kept this running for 12+ hours a day and only turned it off during nights so the phones would not update the software and drain our data (very important thing to keep in mind). I wished the battery would last longer and it seems it was not accurate, sometimes we would have 2 bars and it would turn off shortly, fortunately we carried battery banks and that helped a lot. Would of loved also a USB-C port instead of the outdated micro USB. The screen is very helpful although having only 1 button to scroll made it more time consuming, wish we had more buttons or a touch screen. At the end of the day, this thing was a lifesaver and our teenage daughter wanted to have it all the time, it was well worth what we payed and aside from minor things i would totally recommend this.

Mobile WiFi Calling works in New Zealand w USA sim
I’m in Auckland New Zealand and have been using another cell phone (Pixel 3) to give me Wifi calling to/from the USA (with Ting sim and account). This Netgear AC 787 has improved things for me….first it maintains a constant connection with my iPhone so I don’t miss important calls from the US…but the battery life is much better than a cell phone…as you can see I had the unit constantly on for 9 hours and used 1 Gig of data over that time…and the battery life remains at 42% (started at 100%).Speed is the same…4g LTE…but connection would drop intermittently using the Pixel as the wifi source…not with the Netgear AC 797. Better connectivity…more reliable connection…better battery life…and it is smaller and lighter than my Pixel 3 or my iPhone 12 mini. Great device for mobile wifi-calling if stuck overseas and needing to be connected back home.

A gem. Perfect for my needs.
I have never used a Wi-Fi hotspot before, this is my first one, and I bought it for work as I sometimes have to be on the road for appointments (insurance agent) and need access to the internet, and I don't want to always depend on having Wi-Fi available. I have an inexpensive prepaid phone service that doesn't offer mobile hotspot, so I could not use my phone. The big test on this was actually when my friend moved and had not had her internet set up yet, but needed internet for some Zoom meetings. I lent her this before I ever even used it for work. It worked perfectly, and I have not had any trouble staying connected with it.

Se Daña Muy Rápido
El slot de la sim card es muy delicado, si eres una persona mayor y pones mal la sim card se rompe una pequeña pestaña que sostiene la sim card y el producto queda inservible.
