A well organized blueprint for success
As a documentary filmmaker, one of the things I noticed when I interviewed Dr. Bernstein (to ask him about better approaches to improving relationships) is how organized and easy-to-follow his advice is. Similarly, his new book is specific, clear, and helpful for anybody experiencing anxiety, anger, or depression. Specially it's aimed for helping teens, but also parents and therapists will obviously find it useful as well. The whole point is to be more successful in life, and I love how using this book directly affects how you can manage aspects of your personality that directly affect the trajectory of your life.

Great tool for working with teens- both group and individual sessions!
Awesome resource for working with teens! Can use these for both groups and individual, different diagnoses, and can modify questions for younger kids! I really like the good variety in topics too. Addresses many different types of situations so it can be useful for a wide range of kids. I’m excited to bring these activities to my groups and see how they respond!

Useful and easy to use tools
I was attracted to this book because of the title. I work with teen and preteen competitive athletes using meditation and mindfulness techniques. I have mindfulness tools I call their toolbox. This book and its clear and useful techniques are an nice addition to the tools I'm already using with them. Because DBT is based on mindfulness principles, the methods Dr. Bernstein illustrates compliment my work with the athletes, while giving me more tools with CBT strategies and Positive Psychology Skills. I am not a psychologist, but don't feel that was a disadvantage in understanding and utilizing the tools as indicated, so I think this would be easy for any parent, teacher, or teen to adapt and use effectively

Depression
Book was received in a timely manner and was well packaged. Have used the book with several of my clients but it seems to address issues surrounding dealing with depression/anger related to school. Many of my clients have dropped out. Would recommend the book it is well written.

Comprehensive, engaging, immensely practical & helpful
I also get a bit anxious when reading a book written by a colleague - what if I don't like it? Fortunately I had this set of tools handy, just in case. But silly me - Dr. Bernstein's book is fantastic. He pulls together a great many techniques for coping with emotional challenges, and does so in a manner that is simple for the reader to understand and implement. Dr. Bernstein accomplishes all of this with great compassion, and in a way that avoids the kind of jargon, present in other books I've read on these topics, that tends to aggravate anxiety. I have already used a number of the tools with my own clients. Already noticeably effective are the sections on rising above sadness while targeting school motivation, and cultivating optimism regarding school. My absolute favorite tool focuses on "A Gratitude Shower" - genius. This toolbox gets my highest endorsement. Thanks Dr. Jeff!

Dr. Jeff delivers truly effective hands-on activities that draw on mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and positive psychology. Worth the money!
This book contains many useful worksheets and tools for mental health professionals, guidance counselors, teachers and parents to use when treating or helping teens to deal with anxiety. The book also outlines the type of mindset and thinking such as “all or nothing” which helps both teens and therapists/teachers/parents identify and address such thinking. This book is an invaluable tool and can be used to treat/assist multiple types of teen anxiety. In my opinion it’s a great buy as it has multiple uses.
