Guide to the Crystal Gems (Steven Universe)

I'm a fan of the Steven Universe series and this book is so pretty. Guide to the Crystal Gems is funny and written from Steven's point of view. It contains small bio and about for the Crystal gems, Homeworld gems and even fusions! (Sadly Sardonyx is missing). Don't expect any big reveal, it is basically a guide to get to know the gems, If you have seen all the episodes so far you wont be reading any new info but still I really enjoyed it. It is simple and colorful. It comes with screenshots of the show, just a few new art. Hardcover, with hologram over the title that really goes with the themed Steven Universe book. Size is around 8.6 inches tall and 6.5 width. 96 pages. Great for anyone that is interested in the series.

I have been a Steven universe fan for years now and I know have this book and the tale of Steven both were used but came in wonderful condition! I'm beyond happy and want to say anyone that like Steven these booms are very much something to add to the collection for sure!

I pre-ordered the hardcover edition. When it arrived, the first thing I noticed was the glittery holographic text on the cover. Nice touch. The pages are a gloss/mat finish of fairly heavy weight paper. The printing is very nice with tons of crisp, colorful illustrations. It is not filled with secret SU info, but there were a few facts in it that I didn't know including revealing Rose's manifesto for the first time. The title might make you believe that this is a primer for the show. However, if you have not made it through season one, the book will be a major spoiler. The book does what its title says. Describing the Crystal Gems as well as the Home World Gems and Fusions. It really doesn't talk about any of the human characters or locations. On the first page, Rebecca introduces Steven. Steven explains the Gems from his perspective and gets a bit introspective. In the last part of the book, Garnet walks us through the world of the fusions. There is a lot of dialog support from all the Crystal Gems. Each one is given their own font which is a great way to help the reader keep track of who's speaking. You can't help but read the book in the character's voices. As far as content goes, I think the best part is the insight you get from Steven's feelings and understanding of his world. If you are a fan, it's well worth the money.

This is a cute little guide to the Crystal Gems. It's written from Stephen's POV, and teaches the reader some interesting facts about them. If you're caught up with the show, it won't be a lot of new information, but it's laid out nicely and has positive messages within it. There isn't much new art from what I can tell, but it's still an enjoyable book to have on the shelf. The cover is really nicely done, the holographic glitter effect definitely fits in with the show's style. The art is pretty, and definitely nice to look at. Overall, if you're a fan of the show it's definitely a nice little book to have.

The art is wonderful and it has some interesting facts and thoughts from characters we haven't heard in the show. I love the sparkly font on the cover hehe. I feel the writing style is definitely aimed at kids, which is fine and as it should be, but might not interest older fans like the show itself does. You should get it if you're trying to start an SU merch collection and are trying to support the show. It would also be a super cool gift for young big fans! They'll love it because they love the show, and it also teaches them some great things on what a healthy relationship should look like!

As a huge fan of this show I thought of buying this to support it, knowing that it might not have too much new information. I was kind of expecting some generic character info and that is it. Also, having read that there was like a couple new illustrations and the rest was from the show, the art was not the main reason to go for it. But, really, I am glad I decided on buying it after all! As other reviewers have pointed out, it is really cute, how Steven describes everything, it has the heart from the tv show. Love it! Only wish it was longer but that might have spoiled too much from what is yet to come.

I'm going to make a confession. Earlier this year, I had no idea what Steven Universe was about. I had only seen clips of it on YouTube reviews for cartoons and films. Once I started watching clips (out of curiosity), I began to regret the fact that I had never watched it, but I suppose that's the price I have to pay for not having cable! Steven Universe is a heck of a great show with awesome characters! I also love the diverse universe populated by the extraterrestrial Gems. Who would've thought a species of sentient crystals and gemstones could be entertaining? Rebecca Sugar did, and I am so thankful for that. Her art is simple and creative, and her music is great. I hope to see more of this show in the future. As for the book, my only complaint is its length. It was too short! There could be so much more information crammed into this book, making it a huge encyclopedia. I picture this show becoming as diverse as the Star Wars and Star Trek storylines, so I am sure Sugar and her creative team will continue to help this show grow. Other than that, I adore this show and I adore this book. Awesome work!

Very informative and fun. Tells just enough to keep you interested but doesn't spill all of the secrets. Great way for new fans to catch on the lore, and a fun review for those already caught up. The only downside is that it only covers up about the 1st few episodes of season 2, fo fans who are 100% caught up will notice a few things missing. But its not so big a problem that it takes away from the fun of the book.

Great book for Steven Universe fans - very comprehensive guide to the Crystal Gems. I am not a Steven Unvierse fan, per say, by my husband and daughter are and I've read this to my little girl when Daddy has been out, and it's nicely illustrated and quite charming.

Got this as a gift for my little sister. She loved it, and it was in perfect condition.

Es un libro obligatorio para los fans de la serie ya que contiene detalles muy buenos acerca de las gemas, por el precio y la calidad vale mucho la pena. Llego 1 semana antes de lo previsto, todo muy rápido y en excelentes condiciones. Aclaro que es solo por que es relativamente corto el libro: Calidad 8/10 , contenido 8/10
