Omega 4000 juicer
I was a serious cyclist about six years ago and used a "Juiceman Junior" three times a day five days a week. I was initially impressed with the unit, especially for the price. Around a year later the bearings in the Juiceman gave up. About this same time, I was married and life took over. Now, seven years later I am looking to get back into cycling and juicing. I have looked at the Omega 4000 several times and compared it with others. I decided on this unit over others based on other reviews and the warranty. I used this unit as soon as it came in. I am happy to say that it performs beautifully. Rather quiet compared to the Juiceman, if I recall correctly. The pulp ejection worked fine and was much dryer compared to that (I feed product in rather slow) ejected from the juiceman. Clean up is no different from what I remember. In my opinion clean up is still too time consuming. Other than making the unit entirely out of stainless, I don't know how it could be easier to clean. If your as picky as me about "clean" a toothbrush works well for the mesh basket. One shot of seven carrots stained the plastic parts as I expected. I am sure by following the provided cleaning tips this can be removed. Plastic parts are; however, far more sturdy than the Juiceman. The juice produced from the Omega 4000 is fantastic, very light on "texture" or pulp. I have been rather hesitant on spending money on another juicer, but hopefully I have made the right choice. Others have commented on good customer support from Omega, that is encouraging. Out of the starting gate I am impressed with the performance of the Omega 4000. We will see what happens in the future, I intend to give this unit a workout! Don't get me wrong the Juiceman is a fair juicer for occasional use, especially for the price. If you are a serious juicer look elsewhere, possibly the Omega 4000.

Caution purchasing from this company - Bad customer support in case of defective product!
Word of caution here!! Do not buy anything from this company!! I am yet to see worse customer support. Not to mention the motor on my juicer died less than 2 months after I purchased. I called Customer Service to get my item repaired... they told me because it was past 30 days I had to handle the shipping for repair. That wouldn't have been a problem for me if the item had lasted at least one year... but not even 2 months, I feee like they should have offered to replace it. That aside, I was able to escalate the issue and finally get them to issue a FedEX pick up call, so they handled the shipping. It has been almost three weeks and I have been trying to follow up on the order. They can't even tell me if the item is at the repair site, let alone when it will be done. They keep telling me they will call back with status, and nothing. I wish I had just returned it at Amazon and never get anything from Omega again. The juicer itself is okay. It is not great, but it is not bad... it serves the purpose. It is easy to clean, so that is a plus. Omega products never again.

Omega J4000
To qualify myself: I bought my first juicer 22 years ago, a substantial Acme Juicerator w/ citrus attachment for about $400. After 12 years of heavy use I passed it along to a sick friend, and have since used many many other types with varying performances. I settled on a L'Equip for years, but it is no longer available so I could not get parts. Given the stainless steel juice bowl and overall design, I took a chance on the Omega jJ4000. It is the first juicer that equals the strength and quality construction of my first work horse. It is quiet, strong, fast, and good looking. It cleans easier than the old Acme did, and the cutter basket design does not require paper filters. I could not be happier with the Omega J4000, especially for under $200 Annoyingly, it did arrive lacking the plunger, which is an indictment of Amazon warehousing rather than Omega. I contacted the Omega service rep and the part was sent. A word of advice to those who are new to juicing: I bore my friends often with odes to the benefits of juicing, but know that there is work involved. You will be scrubbing veges, you will be cleaning your juicer (under 10 minutes for a thorough clean if DONE IMMEDIATELY). Be willing to do these things, and your skin and overall health will thank you. And by the way, nothing in my experience reduces appetite better than 6 oz. of fresh vege juice! As always, know that I am a real consumer and this is an honest review. So thumbs up for the Omega J4000. A good deal.

Good Juicer for the Money
We need a replacement for our Juiceman Jr and after some research settled on the Omega 4000. Compared to the Juiceman, this thing is fabulous. The first one we received had some issues with one of the safety sensors on the lid latch, and the unit would not turn on until we opened and closed the latch several times. Amazon replaced the original promptly and we've been very happy with its performance. It juices everything we've tried effortlessly, including carrots which gave our Juiceman a real workout, causing it to rumble, grind and sound like it was about to explode. We are impressed with the 4000's quiet efficiency. The unit is reasonably easy to take apart to clean, though we are not thrilled with the screw assembly that holds the blade in place. It's too easy to lose and you have to be careful to make sure the blade is properly seated. Some minor negatives. Make sure the blade has stopped moving before you attempt to remove the lid. If you do this while the blade is moving it can cause the plastic chute to come into contact with the blade and tear apart the plastic tube. Also, the spout continues to drip well after you're finished juicing and if your juice cup is full, you are likely to wind up with juice on the counter while swapping cups. It also sputters sometimes, splattering juice around the counter. Overall this as an excellent juicer with very minor flaws. Update 2010: Still using this juicer. Recently one of the clamps that hold the lid/chute assembly on cracked. I e-mailed customer service and received no response. Called and kept getting voice mail. Left a message and did not receive a return call. Finally I got a live person who advised me to send in the broken part and they would send me a replacement. Did that and a month later nothing. Called again and the person I spoke with said there was no record of their receiving the part (their fault or USPS, who knows?). Anyway he promised to sent a replacement latch and 3 days later I received two latches in the mail, so now I have an extra. Customer service could have been more responsive, but in the end they came through. Note that when I spoke with the Omega rep he mentioned that there are two different style bowl/lid/chute assemblys. I had to describe mine to him so he could send me the correct latch. Since I've never had the clogging and splattering issues that some others here have described, I suspect that they redesigned the bowl/lid/chute assembly to address those issues (notice that most of the complaints are much older). We've also learned that if we tilt the unit forward when we are done juicing a little remaining juice in the bowl will come out, so doing this eliminates the dripping issue I mentioned earlier. Still very happy with the Omega 4000.

I am frustrated.
I just got this juicer on Monday. There is a white knob to hold the basket in place. You have to screw it on before using it and when it is time to remove it so you can clean the juicer--it will not come off! I have to break my hand to get it off. This is a design flaw. Otherwise the juice works really well. It has a powerful motor to do the job. Now I have to send it back dirty to the manufacturer to have it repaired. I am very unhappy customer because of the flaw and frustration to get the knob off so I can clean it. I cannot go through this every time I use it. It says in the directions not to tighten the knob to tight. Which means other people have had this problem before and they should have invented a instrument the grabs onto the knob to get it off without breaking your hand. Update: I got some pliers to get the knob off. I have to use pliers everytime to clean the juicer. Even though this is a hassle to do everytime I use the juicer, I am keeping the juicer only because I like the powerful motor and it is easy to clean once the inside knob is taken off. If you do not mind using pliers then this juicer is really a good one.

Easy to clean
This is a famtastic product. I would agree with other reviewers on practically every point, and add that even if you don't clean it immediately after use that it is stain resistant and will come clean, even with dried residue on the screen. Depending on what you juice it might start to smell like some fermentation is occuring though and you will attract fruit flies. My sink is fruit fly proof so I havent actually had them set up shop in my home, but they have visited. Overall great product, powerful yet quiet, efficient, can handle ginger and turmeric roots which is exactly what I wanted from a juicer. For the price, it makes perfect sense to get one of these centrifuges over a low speed juicer or any more expensive rivals.

Well designed machine does a great job
I picked this up on a lightning deal for $129.99 and I am quite happy. I know there are other machines out there for a lot less money, but none of them have the 15 year warranty or performance of this machine, from what I can tell. We have used it a couple of times thus far, and operation is easy, with cleanup being more hassle but not bad. Since the feed spout is only about 3" x 2", you have to cut up apples and similar size items, but the machine really gobbles up the pieces and has lots of semi-quiet power. I wish the outlet spout was slightly higher since we are juicing for 2 to 4 people, but I guess the height is great for people juicing for themselves only into a smaller glass. We found a small stoneware pitcher that fits perfectly and will handle juice for 4 large glasses. I haven't had a problem with stuff coming out the feed spout- you just cap it with the green plunger as soon as you put the items in there and push them down. The basket is a little tricky to remove for cleaning since it fits snugly on the hexagonal holder, but I am using a table knife inserted carefully under the rim to pry it up a bit- have to be careful not to damage the basket mesh. I wish they had included a cleaning brush, but I'll pick up one with stiff nylon bristles at the $ store. The white plastic lid stained from carrots the first time, but I expected that from other reviews and who cares since it's on the inside? The juice is delicious- I never realized how much difference there is between fresh apple juice and store-bought. My picky kids give it 2 thumbs up. So far, we've done apples, pears, pineapple, oranges and carrots. Like I said, I am very happy with this well designed juicer.

Self-destruction was not a feature listed in the manual...
I love the idea of juicing and I wish I could recommend this juicer. However, it broke within a week. After just a few uses, it made an absolutely horrific screeching sound as the hexagonal piece in the base that holds the blade decided to shred itself into a pile of powdered plastic. No more juice for me. This product needs a re-design. The underlying engineering seems ok, but the user interface is terrible. It's difficult to assemble (think 3d jigsaw puzzle), awkward to clean (too many flimsy, finicky parts), and if you don't do everything just perfectly, it self-destructs without warning - a feature not listed in the manual. Sadly, and most worryingly, Omega customer support did not even respond to my email for a replacement part, so I returned to Amazon for a refund. To Omega -- an occasional lemon product is entirely forgivable. And perhaps that's what I got. But shoddy customer service is not. I'll take my money elsewhere.

Great Juicer!
I purchased this juicer about 4 months ago to replace my Omega 1000 that I have had for almost 20 years. I have experienced none of the problems other Canadian reviewers mentioned however I purchased my unit from Amazon.com so perhaps it's a supplier issue in Canada with broken or refurbished machines being sold. I find the 4000 so much more convenient to use vs the 1000 and juice production is excellent. No more messing around with paper filters to help with clean up! Pulp ejection system works much better than I expected making clean up quite easy. Omega stands behind there products...I had to make a warranty at about year 5 on my 1000 for a chipped feed chute and they replaced the whole top no problem. The fact that parts are easy to get is a real bonus. UPDATE 11/15------------------------------------------------------------ I have been so impressed with this juicer I have bought 2 more from amazon as gifts for family and friends and they absolutely love them as well. We've had none of the issues that other reviewers have experienced and we use our juicers daily.

Broke down in less than a month!
At first I was excited to see that the juicer worked. However in less than a month it broke down and would not even turn on when it is switched on and plugged in. And I used it extrmely carefully and cleaned it and maintained it according to manual. I am so disappointed and want my money back!!!
