The Glip JK-111 Black is an elegant electric glass kettle that boils water very quickly. It features 1500 watts of power, 1.7 liter water capacity, auto shut-off, blue LED boiling indicator, stay cool handle, secure locking lid, boil-dry protection and cordless water filling. It only takes 7-8 minutes for water to boil at maximum level. With the non-slip 360-degree swivel corded power base, you can lift the kettle off from base cordlessly and serve hot water very conveniently. While water is boiling, blue LED will lit up from the bottom of the kettle to indicate that water is boiling. Switch will be shut off automatically when it is done boiling. The pointy spout allows water to pour easily and accurately. The kettle is built with high quality durable glass that has very high heat tolerance. Review: Kettle is very nice, fast and sturdy - Kettle is very nice, fast and sturdy. I only gave it four stars for the slow flow. I have been opening the lid when I pour water. Review: A very good choice - I read reviews of every glass electric kettle sold on desertcart. It took hours. We use ours all day, everyday, so it was an important purchase. Our old kettle still works, but it's slow, loud, and badly stained. Do NOT buy a satin-nickel kettle, they are impossible to clean, and it goes downhill from there. Our old kettle looks like it was used on a polar expedition in only 3 years. I was concerned about a "glass" kettle being more fragile. This one surely isn't, unless you drop it on cement, and it somehow lands on its side. That would be hard to do, but not impossible. This model has a soft plastic base, which sits on a hard counter quietly & softly -- no worries there. This kettle is markedly quieter, markedly faster, and pretty while heating! In a darkish kitchen corner, the blue ring of bubbling fire is mesmerizing. Sure, I have no idea how durable this one will be, so far, so good. At $38, I'll take that risk, because my wife loved it instantly! Pros: Fast Quiet Pretty, if not elegant Easy to clean Glass body doesn't get as hot as metal, and it cools faster. Metal kettle sides can burn you. The only plastic contacting the water is in the lid during pouring. Cons: Water cools more quickly in kettle after heating - a minor point It doesn't pour as smoothly as others. If you are using this for an individual cup of drip coffee, like I do everyday, you need to take care. Pouring a slow, steady stream is not easy, but I'm use to it now. Removing the filter helps, but not much... Other models look more "elegant" if that's more important than function (sometimes it is!)

Cute but cover broke
Updated review: Almost one year later, I still like this kettle but the spring mechanism to open the cover has popped off. An actual plastic piece broke off and one of the pieces fell behind my fridge. You can still open the top by pushing the button and lifting it up and actually removing the whole top piece but it's a hassle. I am most disappointed about their customer service; I contacted them about this issue and did not hear anything back. Original review: This electric kettle is everything I wanted. It is glass so you're not heating water to high temperatures in plastic and it boils the water quickly. It automatically shuts off when the water is boiling which is a nice perk plus, when it's on, it has the ring of blue LEDs around the bottom which is a fun touch. At the top where the water pours out, there is a small filter type of thing (the purpose of which I don't understand) and it breaks up the water stream and causes it to go all over the place and pour slowly. I ended up taking it off and it fixes the problem. Overall, I highly recommend this kettle. It's a good price and looks really nice on the counter.

Silicone ring touches boiling water
Just to be clear, this model does have a silicone ring between the metal concealing the heating element and the glass. You can feel it with a fingernail if you manage to get your hand in. The other reviews weren't clear about it, so I bought it in hopes that this one might not have it. And since it does, it's no better than a dozen other glass/metal electric kettles one can find these days, to be honest it's worse, as it's unconventional shape makes it much less convenient. Only has water level marks on one side, which is also very inconvenient. UPDATE: hard to pour water into a cup without spilling. Lid opening mechanism stopped working after a couple of months. Lowering product rating to one star because of all this.

The design is nice, and it's great that it's cordless
UPDATE: the inside of the pot now has rust building up in it. Not only is it hard and nearly unmanageable to clean (I use a soft sponge baby bottle brush), but calcium deposit and rust is now a problem. The two stars is for the fast boil and sleek look. That's it. It's no use to me at all if it's all rusty. Boiled water real fast, but you can't get your hand in there to clean it. Mineral deposits sit at the bottom and I'm not sure how to clean it out. I can get to it with a cleaning brush but can't use enough pressure to scrub it off. I'm unsure about using cleaning chemicals for something I use often and for food. The design is nice, and it's great that it's cordless. Just wish it was easier to clean.

I got this as a gift and had such good luck with it that I bought another for someone else. Nothing but good things to say about the kettle, it heats fast and makes morning routine very easy for making hot tea or using the drip melitta coffee system. It helps that it automatically shuts off after coming to a boil, one less thing to worry about. Water stays hot well after using also. While it's heating it has blue lights around the inside of the base and they go off after it boils and shuts off, kind of fun.

I love this Electric kettle for the price
I love this Electric kettle for the price. It looks decent enough to be on the counter. The water does not touch any surface other than the glass.... but the steam does cook the plastic lid. I use the water to mix with my cold brew coffee and have not noticed a plastic taste and the lid has not shown any damage from the heat. The switch seems somewhat cheap but it works. Fill with water, flip switch, wait 3 or so minutes and pour. Its super easy.
