The Invisible Man: Complete Series

DVD or Blu-Ray? Well, the DVD seems the better choice: According to other reviews, the Blu-Ray version is totally awful with badly compressed video and a distorted widescreen frame that ruins the original 1.33:1 composition. But no one was complaining about the DVD version, so that is the one I bought, and I can confirm here that the DVD set is just fine. Video looks great, is in standard 1.33:1 ratio, the audio is nice and clean. The image is so clear, you can see a lot of the wires used to float objects around. But the bluescreen effects work fairly well, always did. The 4 DVDs offer a decent compression ratio for a crisp viewing experience.This was a lot of fun in 1975 and it still works now. Although some of the episodes are merely lukewarm, there are some standouts; and the series lasted only a short 12 episodes (one unbroadcast episode is included here for completists). I remember as a kid being bummed at its sudden cancellation back in the day, because seriously, it's a fun fantasy series, and David McCallum (as scientist Daniel Westin) makes a great invisible good guy. Melinda Fee is perkiness personified as Westin's charming and somewhat curvaceous wife. If you liked the old Universal feature "Invisible Agent" with Jon Hall, that is basically the kind of thing this is, an invisible man as James Bond-type spy with the ability to sneak into basically anywhere, rescue hostages, and stop the villains. He has a special rubber mask and gloves that allow him to pass as a normal person when he wants to, and which he then peels off when he wants to disappear. This gimmick is used in some clever ways, and there are a couple of priceless moments in which Westin peels off the mask and displays his invisibility to certain characters after swearing them to secrecy about "what he is about to reveal".You will see a lot of bellbottoms, evening suits, and moppy hairstyles, since this is the disco 70's, but as long as you know what you're getting into, you'll be okay. Enjoy!

Well I finally got it,and I am on the 7th episode and so far the picture and the sound is perfectly normal for a 1975 tv 📺 show. I don't see or hear any issues with the blue ray disc . Back when The 6 Million Dollar Man came on television in 1974 i was hook on this future sifi character from Universal television and the a year later The Invisible Man came on television from Universal television too.I was 9 years old.But now watching the episodes i do not remember any of the episodes at all,however I am a big fan of The television series The Man From U.N.C.L.E...which star in David McCallum . I don't think I would of bought this tv series of it didn't have the star David McCallum in it. Actually the stories remind me of the television series 1960s Mission Impossible .People say there are 12 episodes on it , but on the blue ray art work sheet it shows 13 episodes could it be the plot episode???? Anyway good stories good picture good sound has a little bit of comic situations when it should be serious.And you can click on Play All button and you will have over 10 hours nonstop of the television show😃😃

I used to watch this show when it was first on the air in 1975 and I was fourteen years old. I bought the series because I wanted to relive the memories of this short lived series. If you've never seen this series or know little about it, I think it's important to remember that it was made at a time when a research lab spending $2 million on a project was considered an enormous amount of money. Anyway, David McCalum stars as a scientist who manages to permanently make himself invisible so he has his surgeon friend create a 'mask' for his face and hands which is perfectly molded around his skin to look absolutely 'real' to everyone around him. Of course, this is what I mean by you really have to stretch your imagination. When you see the mask off his face it would never pass as anything close to his actual face. And it's amazing that the mask is so 'real' that it even allows you to see his teeth, inside of his mouth, tongue, etc. Wow, that is one 'realistic' mask!! And I also noticed in several episodes that he would remove the mask and hands as well as his clothes to become invisible but sometimes he doesn't always retrieve them, particularly the mask and gloves. There was an episode that showed that he apparently has extra masks and gloves but I suppose it's not a big deal if someone else finds his face left behind somewhere. Of course the series didn't last long enough for him to worry too much about it.I know it sounds like I'm trashing the show but I'm really not. I just want to forewarn people who don't know the show that it does not play like a show made just a few years ago. It will probably be enjoyed more for its nostalgia than for anything else. I will admit that I couldn't remember any of the stories after all these years and overall I was not impressed with many of the story lines other than the pilot itself which was excellent. I suppose that may be why it was such a short lived series. But with all of its faults, I still enjoy watching this series because it brings back memories of my teenage years when I watched the NBC show religiously. So, if you are familiar with the series when it first aired, you'll probably enjoy it again 'for the first time'. If you don't know anything about the show and expect excellent special effects and great story lines, I think you had better pass on this one. As long as you watch the show keeping in mind that it was 1975 and way before CGI, you may indeed enjoy it as well. I know that I do. It's not a perfect series in any way but it's entertaining enough.

Just got this today and already three episodes in, so nice for some nostalgia!! This is the best the show has looked. I'm so happy I'm able to get to see this show again. I loved it growing up!! DIsc has good basic menu with links to each episode. They put all 13 episodes on 1 Blu ray but TBH this is WAYYYY better than my old VHS tapes. Price is great too!! This looked perfect in Full screen display on my widescreen TV. I didn't have to adjust any settings. Anyway this release VS. Bootlegs...LITERALLY No contest!!!! I wish there was an extra or two but at least I have this show again!!!

Great TV Show from the 1970 I would recommend to all

It's like catching up with an old friend. Good to see it again after so long - so to speak!

本作は「0011ナポレオンソロ」でイリヤ　クリヤキン役を演じたデビッド　マッカラムの主演TV映画で1クール13作で終わったことから必ずしも成功作とは言えなかったようです。　実は13作中11作でエグゼクティブ　プロデューサーだったハーブ　ベネットや監督のアラン　レヴィ、脚本家のジェイムス　パリオットら後の「バイオニックウーマン(バイオニック　ジェミー）」に関わるスタッフも多いです。私もマッカラム演じるウェスティン博士の妻/共同研究者ケイト役のメリンダ　フィを「バイオニックウーマン」の人脈から追ってきて本作に当たりました。　初期作から回を重ねるたびにコメディタッチの作品が多くなるように感じます（この点をマッカラムもパイロット版の緊張感が無くなったと批判的に述べている様です）。また初期作では透明になるシーンを見せる為か余分に見えるシーンが多々あります。個人的には4話位からは楽しめるレベルになっています。フィの役柄が科学者ということもあり、「フェンボット　イン　ラスヴェガス（フェンボットの逆襲）」でのショーガールのタミ　クロスとは印象が大きく異なり驚きました。ブルーレイはリージョン規格が日本のものと同じで日本のブルーレイ機器でも視聴可能で言語は英語だけで字幕もなく全編再生と各話再生が可能です。お急ぎの方はここまでで・・・・。PS　本作の主演デビッド　マッカラム氏の訃報が2023年9月26日に報じられました。ご冥福をお祈りします。他のレビュアー様の指摘通り、現在Amazonで表示される作品は私のレビューしたものとは異なるものです。マッカラム氏の透明人間では顔に包帯を巻いたシーンはありません。ここからはネタばれにならない様に努力しながら13話の概要をお知らせしたいと思います。この13話は実際の放送順にはなっていない様です。第1話（パイロット版）　クレエ（ＫＬＡＥ）コーポレーションと言うシンクタンクに努めるダニエル　ウェスティン博士（マッカラム）は物質を透明化する装置を開発しますが、政府の関係者が装置を軍用に転用する気であることを知り、自らを透明化させ装置を破壊します。ところが動物では透明化の後再び可視化できていた薬品が自分には有効でなく透明化したままになります。色々な組織に追われながら、友人にマスクとグローブを樹脂で作ってもらい、それを装着して妻で科学者のケイト（フィ）の助けを借りて上司のウォルター　カールソン（本作だけジャッキー　クーパー）に協力を申し入れるという「バイオニックウーマン」のラスト「ジェミー　オン　ザ　ラン（さよならジェミー）」の設定を彷彿とします。第2話「クレエ‘ズ　リソース」世捨て人のライオネル　パークス（「バイオニックウーマン」の「ザ　ジェイリング　オヴ　ジェミー（爆破60秒前の真実）」でジェミーをだまして犯罪者にしたハッチ博士を演じるバリー　サリヴァン）が化石燃料の効率を4倍にする発明をしたが、その発明を他国に売却すると宣言し、その真意を探るためダニエルとケイトはラス　ベガスのパークスの住まいに潜入します。尚この回以降最終回までウォルター　カールソンは「デッドリー　マンテス（北極海で氷に閉じ込められていた大カマキリが人を襲いながら南下するモンスター映画）で主人公のジョー　パークマン大佐を演じたクレイグ　スティーヴンスが演じています。第3話「ファイン　アート　オヴ　ディプロマシー」米国の各所で国宝級の絵画が贋作に変えられ事件が多発し本物は某国の大使館に集められ海外へ出荷されるとの情報を得て夫妻は大使館のパーティに潜入、絵画を奪取する任務に当たります。第4話「マン　オヴ　インフルーエンス」スピリチャリストのはミスターG死んだは人間を呼び出す交霊会を催していますが、その会で議員やVIPを間違った道に導く陰謀があり、ウェスティン夫妻は交霊会に潜入、陰謀を阻止する話です。第5話「アイズ　オンリー」政府の秘書ポーラ　サイモンを通じて重要な情報が洩れている疑いがあり、ケイトはポーラの助手として接近、ダニエルは透明人間としてポーラと情報漏洩ネットワークを探るという話です。第６話「バーナード　ウォンツ　アウト」ダニエルの恩師レオン　バーナード博士は東側へ亡命したものの、そこの生活に辟易して再び米国に戻りたがっていますが、娘のアンナは警備隊長のアレクセイ　ザルトフ（「バイオニックウーマン」の「ゴーストハンター（パラサイコ！少女がジェミーを救う）」でアラン　コリー博士を演じたポール　シェナー）と恋愛関係にあり共産主義に傾倒しています。スウェーデンを舞台に夫妻は博士親子が宿泊するホテルに潜入、博士の帰国を支援します。第7話「サイト　アンシーン」暴徒に不利な証言をしようとしているカパス（「バイオニックウーマン」の「ドゥームスデイ　イズ　トゥモロウ（ジェミー地球壊滅を救え）」で国連の説得を拒否して核実験を強行するサトリ氏を演じたデヴィッド　オパティシュ）の証言を妨害するため娘のロウリー　カパス（ジェミー　スミス　ジャクソン「バイオニックウーマン」の「ヴェガ　インフルーエンス（グランド・ツーリ管制室応答なし）」で聴覚に障害がある故、謎の結晶生物に操られなかったボイリン博士の娘役でした）を誘拐しますが、視覚に障害のあるローリーを奪還するためのウェスティン夫妻の活躍を描きます。第8話「ゴー　ダイレクト　トゥ　ジエイル」ある日、ウェスティン夫妻は研究所の掃除人から自分の息子が無実の罪で刑務所に入れられたと相談を受けますが、実は息子リーランド　マカリスター（「バイオニックウーマン」の「ジェミー’ズ　シールド（警官ジェミー只今特訓中）」で警察学校の教官ゴッドフレイを演じたジェイムス　マクイーチン）は刑務所での麻薬取引を探る潜入捜査官でダニエルは彼と接触するために刑務所に潜入、リーランドを助けることに・・・。第9話「ストップ　ウェン　レッド　ライト　フラッシュ」ウェスティン夫妻は運転中、ドッカージャンクションという小さな町で降車中の赤ランプを点滅中のスクールバスに出くわし、当初は停止していたのですが、生徒が降車する様子が無く、バスの中をみると生徒は勿論、運転手も乗車していなかったのでバスを追い越すと保安官が現れ違反切符を切ると裁判所に連行されると法外な違反金を裁判官から課され、抗議すると追加の反則金と禁錮刑まで追加され、見ていると次々と自分のようなよそ者に同じような反則が課されてゆくのを目撃します。　拘置中に透明人間になって調べてみると実は保安官、弁護士、判事がグルになって不当な反則金で私腹を肥やしていたのです。その悪事を暴く話です。第10話「ピン　マネー」ウォルター　カールソンの叔母のマギーが訪ねてきますが、ウォルターは出張に出る為ウェスティン夫妻の家に泊まることになります。しかし、なんと夜中にタクシーを呼んでどこかに出かけようとします。ダニエルは透明化してマギーと一緒にタクシーに乗ると行き先は高レートでいかさまのポーカー賭博場でマギーはお金を巻き上げられそうになるところをダニエルに救われます。　翌朝、マギーの家をウェスティン夫妻が訪問して事情を聴くとマギーの務める銀行はコンピューターを導入して職を失うことになり、更にコンピューター技師に賭博の為に銀行の金を無断で借りていることで口止め料を要求されているのだとか、ダニエルのお陰で巻き上げられた金を取り戻したマギーとウェスティン夫妻は逆銀行強盗を実行してお金を銀行に返していると本物の銀行強盗が現れるというドタバタ劇です。第11話「クレエ　ダイナスティ」クレエ　コーポレーションのオーナーであるキャロリン、モーガン、ジュリアン　クレエ兄弟が世界中の知的リーダーとの会議開催を見据えて来場、しかし、シンクタンクを平和利用することを主張するキャロリンへの脅威が感じられ会場にも緊張が走っていた処、偽物の仕出し屋にキャロリンは誘拐されてしまう。ダニエルは誘拐者のバンに透明人間になって乗り込むが会場を襲撃したのが6人なのにバンには3人しか乗っておらず、会場の警備にも不審な点が見られることから、キャロリンが未だ施設内にいるのでは？との疑念でキャロリンの救出を試みます。第12話「パワープレイ」ウォルター　カールソンはパイクという精神科の病院の脱走者に銃で脅されます。このパイクは前述のモーガン　クレエと同室であり、クレエ　コーポレーションの話を聴き、その秘密を得ようとウェスティン夫妻も含め監禁され秘密解除を迫られ、さてウォルターとウェスティン夫妻は秘密を守り抜くことができるか？第13話「アン　アテンプト　トゥ　セイヴ　フェイス」ダニエル　ウェスティン博士のマスクを製作した整形外科医ニック　マジーオ博士は東側の権力者ロジン書記長から若返りのフェイスリフトを依頼されますが、ロジンの侍医カテリナ　ストロフは手術に反対でロジンの返送手配を取る、ややこしいことにロジンの警護責任者ペトラ　コルチャク少佐は密かにロジンの暗殺を狙っています。ウェスティン夫妻はマジーオ博士を手伝いロジンの手術は成功するのか？

Great nostalgic tv series .

I've been looking for this series on DVD for years and how great it was to find it on a blu-ray. If slightly worried about getting it on import, I needn't have been concerned: the wquality was excellent and there were no problems playing on my machine. And how good was it to watch this series again! It really was high quality television and the special effects don't seem dated, even after all this time. For those of a certain age (sadly!) this is a classic.
