Great STEM Toy
I bought this product for my 6 year old son. If you are wanting something that you can do together as a family then this is your toy.It requires a ton of work to get the pieces disconnected from the plastic and sorted. However, once that is done it is pretty easy to get together. I loved that there were plastic bags with stickers to easily sort all the pieces for easy assembly. My son was thrilled that you could not only use the sun to power the robot but he used a flashlight to make it move. My son and I also loved that there were so many different designs to put together.

A real STEM toy/project
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Everything is well made, but this is not an easy build...which is what I like. My 9 year old son was challenged and frustrated at times, but he figured it out and loved his robot in the end. STEM toys are not meant to be easy, they are meant to challenge the brain and increase grit. This is a real STEM toy/project.

Great Robot - Not a toy
I got this for my son, since he is too much in to robotics and coding. First he wasn't much impressed with all the plastic parts and pieces. I helped him take out the pieces from the moulds and then there you go, he was on his own on building this thing and spent over 2 hours to assemble the first bot. The problems - It doesn't have any battery which means there's no charge holding and it will work only in full sun. He was able to run it in the full sun. For me - it was worth the money, it keeps my son busy and definitely helps him innovate :-)Pros -* A bit complex to assemble but it was fun doing it.* Great assembly instructions* Comes with labels and ziplocks for helping in managing the pieces.* Good for helping kids build and explore.Cons -* No Battery, charge holding* Runs only outside in full sun

Definitely recommend for science or play
I’ve searched through a lot of different toys/ science project ideas for my kids. Homeschooling these days. Whew I think we can all relate. Decided on this one. Lots of pieces and different ways of putting it together. My boys are 4th and 5th grade so this project was fun to watch daddy join in on. Will be purchasing more of this type of projects.

Complicated and tiny parts
The pieces needed to be cut from racks and the little spies sanded down carefully. That was not a task for my 8-10 years old boys. The motor assembly was complicated and wouldn't run on LED lights. It calls out for 50 watt halogen bulbs or direct sunlight. Local stores have discontinued all but led lights so we were out of luck. The rolly Polly robot didn't want to run as the motor was inadequate for the torque needed to drive the gearing. Even with multiple bags and bags of parts finding the correct tiny connector was horrible. These are suited for teenage boys and girls with tons of time and patience. I do not recommend this as a STEM learning tool.

Cool little gadget
I like that you can make multiple designs from the kit. I got this for my son and its was a little hard to assemble for him 9, the instructions do say 10 but it was pretty cool to build. The gears have to be close and tight together so they dont slip, just make sure it is all tight. We did the dog and I took a video from my turtle tank bc it is overcast here. Works well, and with being shut in it was something non video game related!

Poorly Designed Parts
I ordered this for my 8 year old sons birthday and he was so excited to build it. Sadly some of the pieces were not made right & wouldn't fit together, and another main piece broke quite easily when snapping it out of the plastic thing all the pieces came in. Of course now I’m out of my return window since I ordered it early for his birthday so that’s $30 going in the trash and I’ve got one disappointed kiddo.

Complicated instructions but totally worth it
I got this for my 12-year-old little brother. He’s interested in robots but hates learning and school. The instructions are a little complicated, but with a little patience this turned out to be a really fun gift. The best part is that it can be built and re-built into many different kinds of robots, so we’ll get plenty of playtime from this toy!
