Quality product, great value, just the right size
Solid construction. Beautiful, classic look. If you are not in love with modern style furniture, you might just find you love this desk. It is beautiful, well-crafted and solid. Even if you want a more modern look, Sauder has a range of styles. And while I needed the hubs to get a 70# box up a flight of stairs, I was able to build this desk and the matching bookcase in a weekend for my new office space. The directions are not difficult to follow if you have experience with projects that require a Phillips head screwdriver and a small hammer. Even if you don't, they have customer service available to answer your questions. They even throw in a little humor throughout the build process when you are at a point of mild frustration. Well done, manual writers! Customer service is impressive: One piece had significant corner damage and it just happened to be the very front drawer. I logged in to their website, filled out the information for a replacement piece and it was delivered (exceptionally well packaged) in 3 days. Drawers slide in & out smoothly. Finished product looks just like the photo. 4 stars for assembly because there are a few challenges. Best advice: All of the screws/nails/cams are in separate bubble pack labeled to the section they are used. I don't recommend removing them all at the beginning. Follow the directions and open as needed. Refer back to the Hardware Identification page for count and visual of the item. Have fun! Include your kids and teach them the art & skill of following detailed directions to a finished project.

Assembled in under 2 hours
Okay, I bought this desk after reading all the reviews about how difficult and confusing it is to put together, here to tell our story. My husband and I both have our bachelors degree, and we are in a good stable marriage of over 5 years. We have two young kids and one on the way. I went into this warning him that this may take a while, and we should start after our kids go to bed. By 8pm he had everything unpacked and was starting the first step. We easily saw all the labeling, and the directions were very specific. You just have to pay attention to the pictures. We were done by 10pm. Highly recommend 2 screwdrivers (one of ours ratcheted which he LOVED). Fast forward 3 weeks, we love the desk so much we bought another one. This time we put it together while our kids were awake. We set a stopwatch and completed the whole build in 1:46. This is a very reasonable desk to put together, and for something from Amazon, we believe it is decently high quality. Love all the little accent pieces and how sturdy it is. The drawers didn't align as expected, but for the cost, this was a great (double) purchase for us.

Excellent value, exceeds expectations.
I'm very happy with my new desk! It provides me with what I wanted: a broad work surface that's much like working on a table top, and plenty of storage so I can tuck all my supplies away. There's enough space to work with multiple books, a notepad and desk lamp, with my macbook and my drink at opposite ends, for the sake of safety. The pictures in the listing don't do it justice. t's not made of solid wood, but for the price, it's more than reasonably sturdy. Once assembled it doesn't feel wobbly or suspect. It's not solid wood, but it's quite heavy and very handsome. I haven't had any problem with the drawers being wobbly or not gliding smoothly. The screws which set up the slides are easily accessible, so they can be adjusted if need be. NB: the pencil drawer is just that, it's for pencils and notepads, it's not the place to store your collection of coins and lead figurines. Conveniently, the max load for each drawer is listed in the book. Assembling the desk did take several hours, working alone. If you can follow instructions and interpret pictures, it's not too taxing. The drawers were the most complicated bit, but once you do the first, the rest work the same way. I didn't have any missing or damaged pieces. One corner has a tiny chip in the veneer, but it's most likely I'm responsible for it and a touch of scratch pencil will fix it right up. Yes, the hardware comes all jumbled together. I sorted the pieces out in an ice cube tray before I started, to make I had them all (there were extras) and to make it easy to find what I needed as I worked. Not every piece is labeled with a sticker - some had the letter printed on the edges. The others were pretty obvious, and if you still can't figure it out, there's a visual guide in the instruction book. It was easier to put together than some of my Ikea pieces because it has text, not just pictures. The box it comes in is very heavy; most people will need a second person to get it in the house. The weight of the box was impressive. You shouldn't try to turn the desk upright on your own either - it won't work and you'll risk damaging it. There are no holes in the desk for cords. The back of the desk isn't as attractive as it could be (behind the drawers on the right is particleboard), so it's not the best choice to place in the middle of a space.

The instructions were great and easy to follow.
Very nice looking and sturdy. Took a whole day to assemble. It was easy to see the instructions were written by a native speaker of English. I read the instruction book the night before assembly.

Quality desk at a great value.
I paid $211 before tax to buy this desk as an early Xmas present for my wife: the desk is beautiful, my wife loves it, and I consider the price more than fair. It's heavy, of course, slightly over 100 lbs, and the assembly appeared daunting enough ( a lot of hardware) that I paid someone $50 to do it. Daniel works on houses for a living and it took him just over 2 hours to assemble the desk - which means it would take most people an entire day (he's very fast). Here's a tip I discovered when I was still considering doing it myself. Most, or all of the larger, darker pieces have stickers on them, part A, B, C, etc. However, on the smaller, lighter-colored pieces I didn't see any stickers, so I was thinking all the pieces weren't marked. Upon closer inspection, however, I noticed the letter and number were lightly carved into them. It's fairly small; you have to look close. Which brings me to the part I was most impressed with. Customer service. Part D37 was broken on arrival. I had Daniel use it anyway, but I called customer service to ask for that piece in case mine didn't hold up. I can't remember if there was an automated system, but if there was it was short and to the point - not the type that makes me want to fling the phone through the window. I do remember that it took almost no time before I was speaking to this really nice lady named Abby who apologized for the inconvenience, asked for the minimum order details, and said the piece would be in the mail by the next morning at the latest. The whole phone call took 2-3 minutes, and the piece was in my hand in about 5 days. You don't see customer service like that anymore! At least I don't. Thank you, Abby. Thank you, Sauder. I came away impressed by your company.

I totally recommend
I have been looking for a desk like that which will have a good drawer where I can totally hide my stuffs. I also went through more than 200 different types and I finally landed here after reading reviews and looking at the picture. Must I tell you it is totally worth the time, money and effort. At last I m reaping my effort. This desk is so beautiful, sturdy and gives you that freshness and royal looks in my new room. Amazon is room measure is amazing feature. With the help of that I was able to fit it where I wanted. Assembly is easy, u just need to have time around 3 hours, better if u have another person helping u for giving hands. But let me remind you all that this product is heavy meaning it’s great quality and sturdy. I would totally recommend anyone who is looking for something like this. But the only downside is one of the corner came damaged and I only realized that when I was 80% done assembling. I don’t know if the product damage came this way from the first gear or damage happened during transportation. Anyways great product but I got the damaged one.

Read this review!
I hardly ever write reviews, but this product needs a review. The pros- It’s a very nice looking desk and the quality of the wood is very good. This desk is HEAVY! When I say heavy, I am 6’4” tall man and I had a difficult time with it. Customer service was very easy to deal with and sent me replacement parts over the phone. The cons- This desk is very difficult to put together. I’ve put together 50 pieces of furniture in my lifetime and this one takes the cake. The directions are decent, but could be better. It’s going to take the above average person a good 3 hours to put together. If you are below average, find another product. This desk is HEAVY! That’s a pro and a con. If you are a single woman, you likely won’t be able to move the box inside the house. The top of the desk came damaged and I didn’t notice it until after it was put together. I called the support line and they are sending me a new one. All in all, it’s a great quality desk.

Nice desk, but soooo many parts!
The desk looks very nice. Plan on several hours for constructing it though! Had it not taken so long, would have given 5 stars. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until I had it all together that I noticed a small damaged section on the front edge of the top of the desk. At that point, I had way too much time invested in it not to continue putting it together. I think I would have preferred an extra box or two with some of the construction completed. Was also not a fan of the top and file drawer construction. The plastic slides included do not fit tightly to the drawer fronts. I imagine this is for an easier build of the drawer. However, this left the drawer front sloppy even after many attempts at tightening the screws. And yes, I used a power tool while putting it all together. I also didn’t care for the drawer pulls looking like 4 screws were holding it in place. Yes, I’m a bit OCD, but they are all at different turn points and it just looks silly to me. Overall, the desk seems sturdy. I would have liked to seen the top made of real wood. But for the price, it was a nice looking piece. I’ve yet to use the file drawer, but love the space available. I also like the rustic accents that were added as in the metal support on the side and metal foot pieces.
