Nintendo DS Lite Crimson/Black [video game]

The Nintendo DS. What more could one say? I'm going to try and rate this as objectively as possible. First off, this is by no means an adult gaming device. Anyone who is upset because it does not have TV out HD capabilities is playing with the wrong toy. You have to look at this product as it were geared towards children and the younger crowd. Many adults who purchase the DS feel that they have been ripped off. Well that's just the thing. Like I said, one has to see this as a youth oriented device. Anyways, now that we've cleared that up let talk about the DS itself. Graphics Game play Price Feature set. Graphics: Not great and it definitely would not be able to compete with the PSP, but If I remember correctly Edge magazine's top 100 games off all time features more games from the 2D era than anything else. Actually, out of the top ten 4 were 2 dimensional and the number 3 and 1 spot went to Mario 64 and Ocarina of time. Both these games were some of the first in the 3D world. So looking at it from that perspective, I'd say that graphics are outweighed by game play presentation and storyline. Plus new Super Mario bros is just plain goodness in a cartridge. Gameplay: Lets talk about Mario 64... The original Mario 64 relied heavily on the N64's analog joystick, so Mario 64 DS gives you a few different control options that attempt to emulate the control in different ways. By default, the game is configured to let you play without using the system's touch screen. The D pad is used for movement, and the buttons are used for jumping, ducking, attacking, and running. While you can also use the touch screen for running, the other two control modes are somewhat better suited for use with the touch screen, letting you shuffle the buttons around a bit to give you more control over your character. I think the methods incorporated for movement in this game are superb and could not have been mapped much better. This seems to go for all games. Most games that require the use of the touchpad and stylist are focus more on tactical elements rather than speed, which results in a more enjoyable game experience if you're not too quick with the stick. One issue I did encounter was after the touch screen got a bit scratched up it was not as sensitive. Plus those little stylists are so easy to loose. Price: Can't beat it. Can be found for under 100 dollars if you shop around. You're not going to find a cheaper way to entertain yourself on the go. The games are not too expensive either. Although, 30 bucks is pretty steep for anyone under 12. Feature set: I'd say for something as simple as a "Gameboy" it has a lot to offer. It has Wifi which can be a lot of fun with friends. Try playing Mario kart with 7 other people on their DS's and you'll know what I mean. Also the chat feature is neat if you have friends that have DS's as well. And a big bonus is the backwards compatibility with GBA games. There is a little cartridge spot to put old games in. Some of my favorite Mario games are still playable on the go cause of this. Other than that there are not a lot of features. But I wouldn't expect it to. Like I said before, If you're looking for a portable media center this is not it. The DS is a fun handheld (strictly related to gaming) that can keep you entertained for hours on end.

The first thing that I will say is that I appreciate the price, considering the condition of it, as well as the time of which production them was discontinued. Next, the DS is working just as it would, as if it was bought from a store over a decade ago. Starting it up doesn't bring up any issues, nor does shutting it off create any either. The speakers work perfectly on max and low volume. The GBA slot works well without any problems as well. The DS slot works great too. I have no problem opening and closing the DS when the game is still on. The hinge works good as well. No problems on the upper or lower screen. The film that covers the screens is still on there, so it is still in perfect condition. The touchscreen function is also good. The DS case itself looks pretty clean and new. The only "use" I see is some small scratches on the top part of the DS case, but that won't deter me from playing it. In summary, the product is in excellent condition considering all of the mentioned details above. Luckily the seller had kept it in excellent condition so I have no qualms here.

Not even a month after getting it the hinges are already mostly broken and wont catch properly. Hardly used it, was just shy of 10 hours. I take pretty good care of my stuff so there's no reason it should be broken already. I remember my old DS lite when i was a kid and that thing was a tank compared to this.

I love this thing and its a good thing that you can also play gba games on it as well. The reason why I give 4 stars is because simply since the ds is sorta thin and after a while my hands get a little uncomfortable because theres less thickness for my hands to grab on to. I have always played the gbc system and what I like about the gbc is that is thicker and gives me something thicker & easier to grab. on is more comfortable for my hands and I am sort of getting used to playing the newer pokemon games like Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/Heart Gold/Soul Silver/Black/White etc. I have played pokemon red blue yellow gold silver & crystal most of my life since 1998-2010 and just bought pokemon stadium 2 for the first time ever and am just even trying to get used to that because I only have had the first pokemon stadium most of the time. Sorry if this review is kinda odd or out of the oridnary. The pros of the nintendo ds Backlit screen (You can play in the dark) Gba slot to play gba games Better more advanced graphics You can change the internal clock at any given time The cons of nintendo ds You cant play gbc games (For me) When I open the ds and play after a while my hands get uncomfortable because the nds lite is rather thin theres less thickness for me to grab on and rest my hands on like the gbc. (Plus I just have been recently playing the nds and im trying to get used to it) The pros of gbc More thickness for me to grab on which makes it more comfortable and easy for my hands You can attach a light to play in the dark The cons of gbc No back lit screen (Need an attachment light if you want to play in the dark or some sort of portable light like a flash light) All in all I equally like all game systems but of course every game or game system is gonna have pitfalls to something and cant totally be perfect. More thickness for me to grab on which makes it more comfortable for my hands.

Is it worth it to buy a new Nintendo DS Lite if you have a DS already....or, if you don't own a DS yet at all ? Absolutely! This new DS Lite is a huge joy, especially if you already use a regular DS. Here are some reasons: - Much lighter, smaller, and more compact than the regular DS, but much better screens, sound, graphics, and voice recognition - Fit and finish is hugely better than the regular DS - The screens are hugely brighter, have vivid dense colors, and produce fantastic game graphics and video - The battery charges in 1/2 the time and lasts 2X longer - The microphone and voice recognition is 100X better - The stylus us much better - longer and thicker - The game ports are finished better and in better places - It costs less than the old regular DS - The games are much more lifelike on a DS - The new start button location is much better - The white color and new surface finish is terrific - The wireless and WiFi works better than most computers - Playing against others online or all in the same house (wirelessly) works fantastic and is so easy to do - Run, don't walk, to get a new one right away - online works! If you do not believe this review, just test one out and you'll be hooked. I know my review is so positive, but I'm a gamer and not trying to sell these things. They're just so good!

I purchased this for my son at the time. He's grown now abd he still has it (sentimental value) he loved this Nintendo DS when he was a child. It is well made.

I cannot believe I am holding my childhood in my hands... I got my very first DS at 7 years old in 2006. I got mine red. It stopped working properly, so my parents had to return it and get me another one. I got silver since there were no more red. I loved it, but red was the one I wanted. I was still very appreciative. It was my go-to when I was depressed or bored. I'm 24, almost 25 now. I finally got the red Nintendo DS Lite I've always wanted. It's GORGEOUS, very shiny, clean, works amazing, ZERO scratches and feels brand new by the touch. It said it had a very slight scratch, but I checked it and there's none. I also didn't even need to charge it. I received it almost fully charged and it still has that nostalgic little opening sound. I'm literally in tears. Best gift I've made myself in such a long time. I recommend if you wanna relive your childhood. 10 stars.

The ds works really well it still had a bit of dirt on it when a got it at place like the inside of the stylus and a bit under the screen nothing some rubbing alchool and à coton swab can’t fix in 2 second the rest was incredibly clean I was shocked at how well everything else was clean no scratch no nothin mint condition It reads the game cards well the battery is still doing good (it last longer then the iPod I’m using to write this review hahaha) both cartridge slots were really clean TLDR : was great 10/10

Llegó antes de la fecha, envío rápido y eficiente. Bien empaquetada, en una caja pequeña, la DS Lite envuelta en papel protector y junto a ella el cable USB que hace de cargador. El producto viene según lo descrito, en muy buen estado, con lápiz tactil incorporado y con el cartucho GBA de plástico metido para evitar polvo. La carcasa Crimson está nueva, así que sin arañazos ni rayaduras. La he probado un poco, todo bien, pantallas limpias, la pantalla táctil funciona perfectamente, reconoce trazos, sonido correcto. (El sonido de la DS original, no LITE, era más claro.) Desconozco si la batería está nueva. El color es precioso (me gusta el color rojo, así que el diseño Crimson le da un toque granate excelente). Recomiendo compra o regalo para disfrutar de aquellos juegos de DS clásicos o para coleccionar. Y también recomiendo vendedor, por el cuidado del envío y cumplir con lo prometido del producto.
