Not a fleece type but quite thin, more like the sport t-shirt breathable material. Not a heavy material.

Q: I’m 5’5 what size should I go for

Like the pants come in a Small. Med. & Large. My waist size in 34" and I'm 5.6 so I went for a Med. pair. It's more your waist size that you go on, instead of your height.. maybe going by what size you take in ordinary pants/jeans is a good guide.
