Kryptonite Kryptolok 10-S DFS Bicycle Security Disc Lock

I bought this lock after using a friends. The reviews on other competitor locks had me scared, as far as the lock "freezing". There are multiple reports of the locks not working, so I avoided that brand. My friend had one, so I was able to use it before I ordered it. It is extremely robust, and te lock is incredibly sturdy. It works with ease, and the lock that was 2 years old worked just as smoothly as the one I purchased.The only complaint I have is how easily the paint chips. I have the yellow one, and after resting against te caliper for a day, the paint started to peel. Overall this was money well spent. The item is extremely heavy.

Great lock for motorcycles. I live in San Francisco and this has been put to the test multiple times. About a week ago I noticed my bike was messed with while parked on the street. Someone tried pretty hard to get this lock off. They attempted to punch the lock, but failed. They used an angle grinder and torch on this disc lock and were unsuccessful in getting through. They did however mess up my rotors and brakes, as well as dropped the bike during their attempted theft.Just yesterday someone else attempted to steal my bike. They were unable to get the lock off, and I was woken up this morning by a San Francisco Police Officer pounding on my door. They said someone was attempting to steal my bike. They found it on a shopping cart being rolled down the sidewalk. The thief was unable to get the lock off and gave up after dragging it a few blocks on the shopping cart. Unfortunately the bike was dropped and dragged and has significant damage and will likely be totaled, but this lock was not defeated!!

The Kryptonite Disc Lock is a heavy (2 lb) stapler-style disc lock with a thick 10mm hardened locking pin. The lock is colored a bright orange to act as a warning flag to a potential thief that "there is a lock on this bike, look elsewhere for easy pickings". The key/lock function has worked silky smooth regardless of the weather conditions. This Kryptonite disc lock is the only disc lock that is made from forged steel (not cast steel) so it is highly resistant to being broken by thieves who use spray CO2 to freeze other disc locks and then break the lock with a hammer. A professional thief will probably get your motorcycle if he wants it regardless of whatever locks/chains you put on the bike, if nothing else they will use a portable lift and pick it up into a truck, allowing lock removal at their leisure somewhere else. However, this disc lock will stop the casual thief looking for an easy target, or simply make them look at another bike requiring less effort to steal; it will also stop the local kid looking to pull a prank or just fool around with your bike.Remember to also purchase a disc lock reminder cable (does not come with lock) to avoid damaging the bike, or you, when you forget the lock is installed and you try to drive off. This will also avoid looking like an idiot in front of your friends or bystanders!

I'm pretty satisfied with this disc lock. It's fairly compact - fits under the rear cowl of a '15-16 Triumph Street Triple RX or Daytona, for example, bikes with famously little storage room. It fits on the disc of my Street Triple RX well, with a small amount of room left over at the bottom. Narrow disc slot makes it seem like it would be more difficult to get a tool in to break it than the loop-style disc locks by the same manufacturer that I've owned. Pin operates smoothly. The keys have a narrow head so they don't take up too much room on your keychain. It doesn't come with the coiled reminder cable that some disc locks do. However, it's yellow, and that makes it a little more difficult to forget that it's on there. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

This is an excellent option for protecting your motorcycle. The lock is heavy and highly secure; there is no way to break it easily, as it is pure solid metal. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Quality lock, but the paint from the lock EASILY comes off when you slide it onto the discs…

True to what first reviewer says, if they want your bike, either way they're going to find a way to take it. This lock works by locking on motorcycle disk brake. Works great w/ my suzuki vl 1500 intruder. Gave 5 stars because key is a modern u-lock with flat key. heavy material. Tip; get a reminder high visibility cable so you put this lock and loop cable to a handlebar. Many times I tried to take off forgetting lock was in place and fell over. Luckily no damage, as per some other reviews if you roll bike it might take out a front cable. IMO better a damage cable than somebody running off with your ride.

This lock is solid. Sturdy piece of metal with a shrouded locking pin making it nearly impenetrable to bolt cutters. Keys work well and are not sticky or hard to slide in. Perfect for theft deterrent would buy again.

It works as I expected, compact & I like the carry case (although I think it would be too heavy to clip to a belt)

Ya tenia 1 disc lock para otra moto. Uno chinito, cromado, con alarma, y me funcionaba bien, yo pense. Pero esto es otra cosa, este se siente bien construido, rudo, a prueba de robos. Y la foto no le hace justicia al color. El color real es fluorescente, esta sensacional, es como si anunciara "ni te acerques porque aqui estoy"Muy satisfecho con mi compra, hoy tiro al chinito, y pido otro de estos.
