Great Quality
Made for motorcycles, but it works well on bicycles as well.

Outstanding motorcycle security
The Kryptonite Disc Lock is a heavy (2 lb) stapler-style disc lock with a thick 10mm hardened locking pin. The lock is colored a bright orange to act as a warning flag to a potential thief that "there is a lock on this bike, look elsewhere for easy pickings". The key/lock function has worked silky smooth regardless of the weather conditions. This Kryptonite disc lock is the only disc lock that is made from forged steel (not cast steel) so it is highly resistant to being broken by thieves who use spray CO2 to freeze other disc locks and then break the lock with a hammer. A professional thief will probably get your motorcycle if he wants it regardless of whatever locks/chains you put on the bike, if nothing else they will use a portable lift and pick it up into a truck, allowing lock removal at their leisure somewhere else. However, this disc lock will stop the casual thief looking for an easy target, or simply make them look at another bike requiring less effort to steal; it will also stop the local kid looking to pull a prank or just fool around with your bike.Remember to also purchase a disc lock reminder cable (does not come with lock) to avoid damaging the bike, or you, when you forget the lock is installed and you try to drive off. This will also avoid looking like an idiot in front of your friends or bystanders!

The Best Lock for the Money
From just looking at the picture, it looks much thinner than it actually is. I thought this would be thinner than my TriMax, but it is just as thick. This lock is also the only one I could find on the market that is forged rather than cast. Cast locks are far more vulnerable to ice-spray, making them easier to break. The lock mechanism is smooth and easy to operate. My only complaint, and it is a small one, the lock is very long. This would make it easier for a thief to cut it off.A suggestion for other riders: I recommend putting this lock on your rear wheel. My reasoning for doing so it that your front wheel is already mostly immobilized by the fork lock. If you only lock your front wheel, then a truck with a small cable lift could pick the front wheel off the ground and tow your bike away. Having both wheels locked would make it harder to steal as both wheels would have to be off the ground or both would have to be unlocked.Lock Dimension:Total Height: 70mm or 2.75 inchesHeight w/o Lock Cylinder: 40mm or 1.57 inchesTotal Width: 31mm or 1.22 inchesTotal Length: 120mm or 4.72 inchesLocking Depth: 77mm or 3.03 inches

Nice, fairly compact extra protection for your bike.
I'm pretty satisfied with this disc lock. It's fairly compact - fits under the rear cowl of a '15-16 Triumph Street Triple RX or Daytona, for example, bikes with famously little storage room. It fits on the disc of my Street Triple RX well, with a small amount of room left over at the bottom. Narrow disc slot makes it seem like it would be more difficult to get a tool in to break it than the loop-style disc locks by the same manufacturer that I've owned. Pin operates smoothly. The keys have a narrow head so they don't take up too much room on your keychain. It doesn't come with the coiled reminder cable that some disc locks do. However, it's yellow, and that makes it a little more difficult to forget that it's on there. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

Perfect lock
I bought this lock after using a friends. The reviews on other competitor locks had me scared, as far as the lock "freezing". There are multiple reports of the locks not working, so I avoided that brand. My friend had one, so I was able to use it before I ordered it. It is extremely robust, and te lock is incredibly sturdy. It works with ease, and the lock that was 2 years old worked just as smoothly as the one I purchased. The only complaint I have is how easily the paint chips. I have the yellow one, and after resting against te caliper for a day, the paint started to peel. Overall this was money well spent. The item is extremely heavy.

Sent me an product with package that was already cut open by someone else - like returned item
The manufacturer package I got was cut opened already .... hard plastic that was cut with scissors already. It seemed to be new and in working condition so I kept it.

Incovenient To Use. Poor Design. I Would Not Recommend.
The lock itself is good hardened steel and a good size compared to my old one. However, there is a BIG Negative about this lock. When you put the key in, it can only be removed by putting the lock in the lock position. This means that you have to bent down to put it on with the key still in and turn it to lock it and remove it. I thought it might have been a defect, so I called the company, and they confirmed it is not a defect. They stated that it is designed that way so people don't lose the key to the lock. For this reason alone I am returning it. It is a very stupid design. You have to bend down low to put the lock on and now have the key on your key chain and have to struggle with getting it locked and then do it all again to remove the lock. However, to put the lock away, you would have to remove the key from your key chain every time you use it and put is under the seat or where ever you keep it. It's a very BAD design that makes it inconvenient and also serves NO purpose in prevent someone from losing the key. The way they have it designed you would not really be able to keep the key on your key chain (unless you remove it every time as described above), so now that you lock it, what do you have? A loose key that is NOT on a key chain. To me, that's a MORE perfect way to lose your key and then be stuck with the like on your bike.Another reason why you wouldn't want a lock like this is what if you set down the lock with the key that is non-removable and someone swipes the whole thing? Or worse, they close the lock and take your key?....For the reasons above, I would NOT recommend this lock. It's disappointing because it would otherwise be a decent lock. Until they correct their poor design, I won't be buying from this company.
