Polymer Clay: Delicious Desserts: Art Kit for Beginners

Could be much better - but its okay
This is an interesting kit. It’s goal is to teach one how to make 4 desserts using polymer clay. The desserts are macaron, chocolate chip cookie, strawberry slices and a fruit tart. It comes with a book, 6 samples of clay and 3 plastic tools. The book has great pictures and overall does a good job at teaching. The macaron example is the best one. It tells you how to blend colors, create initial shapes and then the steps to create the dessert. What it does NOT do is tell you the SIZE of how to make the initial shapes. This is pretty important as the clay they provide is limited. The cookie has a couple of issues. It calls for translucent clay – which is not provided. It also doesn’t tell you what size to start your shapes. It also calls for 2 different colors of chalk – which is NOT provided. The strawberry slices have the same issues. Calls for materials not provided and doesn’t provide guidance on sizes. The tart calls for tan, light tan and dark blue. They don’t teach how to obtain these shades. The tools they provide are extremely cheap- but I guess they are good enough to get started.Overall I like the step by steps directions. But there is lot of room for error to creep in. When I bought it I was under the impression there would be more examples. But there are only 4.

Perfect for a beginner's gift
I bought this as a gift so did not try the clay, but I did make a macaroon with my own polymer clay and the directions were easy to follow. Fun kit! I do wish there were a few more items to make, but for the price, this is worth it!
