hykolity Low Voltage ORB LED Landscape Path Light with Crackled Glass Shade

My friend asked me to find him a replacement for the crappy solar-powered landscaping lights that he had mounted on his electric gate. The solar-powered lights didn't seem to last more than 6 months, and would never stay illuminated through the entire night. His only requirements were that the new lights had to look nice, please his wife, remain illuminated throughout the hours of darkness, be water-resistant and be visible from his house 100 yards away, so that they could tell if the gate was closed or open. After looking at all of the available waterproof marine lighting, I decided to look at landscaping lighting. My friend and his wife fell in love with the nice crackle design of the glass and the fact that you could view the light from a 360 degree angle. These lights are definitely stronger and look nicer than the cheap plastic solar panel lights! The snap-and-seal design connection to the landscape wiring didn't work for my setup, using a different type of landscaping cable, so I cut off the connectors. The power cables on the lights have one conductor with small writing along its length. This cable (with the writing on it) needs to be connected to the POSITIVE 12 volts DC power source. The cable with NO imprinting on the exterior needs to be connected to the NEGATIVE 12 volt DC power. (Since this is an LED light, you will definitely need a 12 Volt DC power source (sold separately) and NOT a 12 volt AC power source, which is popular in the old (non-LED) landscape lighting.) I used simple wire nuts (not included) to connect the light cables to the landscape wiring, and sealed the connections with RTV sealant. All six lights were wired identically, and put out a uniform amount of sufficient, pleasing light. If any of your LED lights do not illuminate, you might want try to temporarily reverse the polarity on that particular light to see if it works, before you send it back. I only installed four lights, and saved two lights to use in the event of a failure with any of the original lights. Consuming less than FOUR WATTS for each light, you don't need to worry about these lights making a dent in your electric bill! In the event any of these light fail I will update this review.

These outdoor lights are high quality, beautiful and well worth the money. They are easy to install- you can just clip with into the existing electric cord. The color is very nice and the lights are bright and functional. The product overall is durable and will last many years. I have 2 sets of them and will likely buy more in the near future to complete my back yard.

I've tried another brand of cheap lights before, and they only lasted a few months before they started fading and failing. This set looks fantastic and is built significantly better. Sure, they're not cheap compared to the other set, but I'd lookup what a landscape lighting company would charge for similar lights and you'll think these are a steal. They're the perfect height, the stakes are solid metal so they won't break and the light output is impressive. So much so that I've got to turn them off so my roommate can go to sleep at night lol. I've had them setup for 3 months now and no issues. Installation was easy. I can't comment on the connectors they use for the wiring, as I soldered and heat shrunk every connection, as in my experience as a mechanic it's a significantly better way to connect wires than any plastic splice. Overall, I'm very impressed with these lights, and I'll be ordering another set for my backyard path as well! Highly recommend!

BIG! BOLD! BEAUTIFUL! STURDY! LET THERE BE LIGHT!!! Usually not a fan of stuff made in _ _ _ _ _, but I have to say, in this instance, they got it right! I was immediately impressed with these units... just the weight of these units is a major giveaway... they're beautifully heavy, with a nice tall stem... love the crackeled glass lenses! They also deserve a MAJOR AWARD!! (for the STURDY ALUMINUM STAKES!!!!) FINALLY! someone who gets it!! No more snapping off at the top of the stake! Even has a foot pad to aid in sinking them into the earth! KUDOS!! And YES! They are BRIGHT!!! You can space these guys every 10 - 12' and still have great coverage!! In fact, the only negative comment I have is whatever happened to "all inclusive kit?" Why not supply the underground line-wire and transformer with them?? I mean, the only good thing i can think of as a reason why not, is you can buy the appropriate amt of wire for your run, and space them as near or far apart as you like, but it is somewhat of a pain having to search around for the correct stuff... how about offering varying lengths of wire, and a couple diff wattage transformers, depending on how many lights ur planning to run? Just a thought! Still, at least you got the light fixture part right!! I'll just be happy with that I guess!! :) We were so happy in fact, we decided to buy another kit for a 2nd sidewalk! Now the final test is longevity! They've only been installed for approx 3 wks, but so far, so good! We'll see!! Cheers!! UPDATE!... HAPPY UPDATE!! Star Date: Sept 20th '21 Creeping up on 22 mos since I wrote this review! Happy to say, (hope I'm not jynxing myself!)... almost 2 years in and these units are still going strong!! I swear to you, I haven't had to touch anything in this system since the day I installed it!! Oops, not true... I did have to adjust the # of hours on, as we had visitors sleeping in a front room who were actually bothered by how bright they are! So I had them temporarily turn off sooner for their stay. Otherwise they've been great!!!

Very well made and much cheaper than brands of similar quality. Installation was really simple. Very pretty and function well. My only complains are: 1) They should sell a version which comes with connectors designed for different size wires. I had to use thicker wire (8/2) go a long distance and found that the connectors were very difficult to install when the wire size was larger (8/2) versus the standard size of 10/2. 2) They should make the stakes out of steel rather than cast aluminum. The cast aluminum snaps off very easily with any lateral stress and you must be very careful not to break them when pounding in with a hammer. They would be much more durable made out of steel. If you brake one, the light becomes useless. I broke several of them and found that they don't sell replacement stakes. I had to buy an entire light, in order to get a new stake.

These are beautiful. Little pricey, but for the price they are high quality.

Fantastic product. Better than advertized. Super easy install with very nice connectors for the low voltage 14 gauge wire used in the install. For 3.4 watt bulbs, they are very bright and so a very nice job lighting our path to the house. The antique bronze finish seems durable and the glass on the lights give a very nice diffuse light. I installed 6 lights, 3 spots and all the low voltage wire in less than 2 hours. My install of the low voltage controller was a bit more complicated as I installed in my garage and ran PVC conduit for the low voltage wire. That install took 90 minutes. All told, an excellent syatem at a fraction of the cost I was quoted from a local landscaper. I am going tp purchase another set of these for my cottage!

These lights are expensive but worth every penny ...These are glass so they dont turn yellow and brittle ..They are nice and bright and look amazing ..love love love! We bought 2 sets :)

Very pleased with these lights. The wiring will shift a bit with weather changes but that's to be expected. They look really nice and work. We've had them for about 3 years.

Paired this up with the spotlights and a transformer for a nice look and feel. Aluminum stakes were nice. Used outdoor wire connectors instead of provided one. Time will tell.
