It can light up a city street!"), I'm always ready for high-lumen LED's to let me down. But, as a tiny pocket flashlight for a quick need, this little torch coming in at around 2" is quite a gem, offering four different brightness levels, a flashing option for emergencies, and a UV light for counterfeit bills and crime scene investigations for the armchair detectives of the world. The lowest light setting is absolutely perfect for low-light reading in bed or other non-invasive needs to those around you; second level is equivalent to old incandescent flashlights for efficient light and battery use; the third level is perfect for average flashlight needs similar to most LED flashlights of today, and the highest beam can easily illuminate bright distances of at least 100-150 feet quite brightly, enough to scan an average suburban yard incredibly better than an average traditional incandescent. Assuming you're using it 'normally'. As it IS PWM if you shake it very quickly back and forth in your hand while looking at the light you'll start to see the PWM but not using normally...as persistence of vision maintains the illusion. Of course, with a camera when shutter speeds are taking peeks you'll be able to see it...that is just the nature of the beast for high lumens, low voltage/current devices. Walking around my neighborhood on dog walks and using it around the house for about 2 weeks and I could never discern any 'flicker' - at any of the levels or bulbs (noting the two smaller emitters on the side). I can say...the UV is mostly useless...it's too dim to fluoresce much of anything...even getting very close and the visible light washes out most fluorescing. Anyone reading this: DO NOT buy it for the UV function. **Q: Why does this light automatically turn from high to medium after about 1 min?? I thought it was supposed to stay on high for 30 min? Battery is full** A: It is normal for LED light to step down the brightness when its temperature elevates. It looked great and I was drawn to the control button. It's designed to not to turn on accidently. I previously had a keychain light that would turn on all by itself, Frustrating to say the least. I am impressed by the overall quality and size. Perfect as a keychain light or stuff it into your pocked for EDC. I showed my wife, she loved it and so subsequently I bought one for her. I have only had it a few days but I don't feel like it's going to give me any problems. All the different lumen settings serve a purpose so that's cool. Rechargeable, what's not to like.
