Polyhedron Models

great!
About 40 years ago, I found a similar book in the library. The same author, but the book was translated into another language, that is, only part of the one that I bought now. The library let me keep the book for a whole year!I then made a lot of models. When I finished school, I donated all the models to the school mathematics classroom. I'm sure my models are still there. In those days, I could only make white models. Now I can make multi-colored ones

Positive review
Lots of fun designs. Lots of hours of fun making them. There are new challenges here for me to try

There is geometry and then there are polyhedra
Polyhedra and polytopes (and yes even polygons) were the things that first caught my attention in geometry. I was obsessed with trapezoids as a kid and this book opened me to a whole world of geometry that just fits for me. In part this is because I study minerals and rocks and many of the shapes describe mineral forms. Great book and great subject.

Welp...
If you're buying this you aren't really going to care about a review. Know that some of the diagrams printed in the book are not scaled correctly and there's no indication of which ones they are. If you're trying to build any of these, however, you're probably taking matter into your own hands anyway. Good luck.

It certainly beats television.
For those who enjoy exercising their minds, gaining a greater appreciation of math and nature and building cool models. This is a great book.

Wonderful book gives lots of inspiration
At first glance I was a bit disappointed, because I expected nets ready to be copied and cut out (like in Gerald Jenkins' books for example), but then I discovered that this is not the approach here. As the book favours models out of different coloured card or paper, a single net wouldn't be of much use (or isn't even possible as in the case of many star polyhedra with lots of overlap when unfolded into 2D). Instead, it suffices to give the shape of each different face together with the vertex figure, and you can work out the rest yourself. So it saves you lots of very challenging calculations about the proportions and angles in polyhedra, while it leaves much of the practical intricacies to the reader, which is fine, because unless you are really passionate about creating these models, you should't try models as complicated as some of those featuring in this book anyway, and with some experience and lots of patience it can all be done. For two months now I have been using almost every free hour creating some of the models described in this book, expanding my already vast collection of polyhedra and not worrying about finding suitable presents for friends. I am looking forward to making more of the in years to come. A truly marvellous, inspiring book.

Wow
A superb and comprehensive volume which cover this topic in exhaustive detail. More colour images of completed models would have been helpful.
