fantastic!
I love this gun! It's my first one and I did a ton of research. I'm 5'4 and it is the perfect length. Super lightweight and moves easily through the water. For the price, it is fantastic. Packs a punch! I definitely recommend a chest pad for loading as the double bands are very tight. I went on a last minute trip and didn't buy a pad, but I cut out a $.98 flip flop and clipped it to my belt. Works like a charm! Highly recommend this gun.

Nice gun , I bought jbl 42 before I ask the seller the band broke and gun go down to 80 ft seller it's my fault, I hope this note do with me same as other seller of jbl did, I give him 5* for this gun it is accurate and good power, if anything happens on the review after few months wood broke then I know which one I am buying

Love the gun! But needs some modifications.
I bought this to spear lionfish as I dive, and wanted something I could hang out of the way on my BC. The gun is very nice and its length is perfect. But the spear tip it comes with is too blunt for lionfish (which I knew in advance) and I suspect for many other small fish. I tried the spear on some lionfish and it literally bounced off of several of them because the tip is too blunt. I bought a threaded shaft and added a three-pronger tip and now it works great. (The shaft on this model is NOT threaded so you either need to buy a different shaft or buy a threading die and thread the shaft yourself.) Wish JBL had thought of all this! The rubber band is very strong, and a little too powerful for such a small gun and smaller fish. It takes two strong hands to load it. Wish they had put a slightly longer one on it and I may make that mod soon. You're going to want to buy a coil lanyard so the string doesn't float around and get tangled in your equipment. I picked up a rubber chair tip at the hardware to cover the three-pronger tip (which I added) while diving. I also bought a Maxpedition UFSB 'universal flashlight sheath (holster) which makes a GREAT holster for the JBL mini (the holster is also sold on Amazon, is very heavy duty and has several adjustments you can make to fit the speargun into it). I hook the sheath/holster to a ring on the side of my BC. Allows me to have the gun with me but out of the way, and keeps my hands free. All of which is to say, "great gun" but plan on spending some additional money to make mods.

Excellent everyday gun
A great gun for the price. My only "warning" is that the shock cord is quite a bit shorter than described but is easily remedied by a longer length of Dacron or other cord. that being said, I would also not recommend this for shooting anything larger than 35lbs (15kg) or so, unless at extremely close range.A Great close range gun for the reef, and perfect for anything freshwater. preforms well and shoots great.

Great starter gun
I ordered this last minute before a trip and got it the next day I try to abuse of amazon prime. Its a great little gun. I recommend wearing gloves to reload it was a little bit hard without. It does not come with a tip but the spear has a pointed threaded screw you could probably do fine without a point but if you plan to keep it for any amount of time, hitting the rocks could damage the tip therefore spend the extra money and buy a tip.

Incomplete.
Our speargun arrived with a threaded dull tip, this should come with the necessary screw on pointed tip or a sharp arrow. Would not purchase again.

A very reliable Speargun at a very reasonable price with overkill to spare.
Picked this spear gun on Amazon.com due to its lower price and quality brand name.Didn't realized how powerful it is very well capable of 20 ft. shots. So removed the short chord and place a 50 lb. test nylon chord 17 ft. in length.Soi the extra 4 ft. of my arm and length of the gun will give me a range of of 21 plus ft.The only down fall the spear isn't really sharp from factory but I sharpened it up a lil' bit and works fine .Also the band is a little bit hard to pull back to cock it definitely not for a weak person and will leave bruising on your chest if not wearing a wet suit.
