I don’t know why the reviews are so inconsistent on the sleep/wake function for these. I can only guess that some of the identical-looking 2017 9th generation covers are still lurking around, getting mixed in or something. I took a gamble, and it paid off. Works fine. Sleeps when I close it, wakes when I open it. Magnet keeps it closed. Comfortable edges with no bevel, pretty image, and $23 less than the official Amazon water-safe cover. It’s lightweight, and all the corners of my Kindle are protected. I do wish the surface were less shiny, as that in combination with the texture washes out the colors, but that’s a minor quibble.

I really love the way this cover looks. I chose the pattern with the lanterns. The case fits well and leaves easy access to the charging port and power button. It's lightweight and appears sturdy. But the main reason this isn't rated higher is because the Sleep/Wake function doesn't work! I open the cover and nothing happens. I have to press the power button to wake up the Kindle. Considering it's one of the features advertised in the description, I'm pretty annoyed.

I received this case on Saturday and my new Kindle Oasis on Tuesday. The case itself is cute and will work fine to keep the dust off my screen, but the product description says it works with the latest kindle, but the auto wake/sleep function does not. Pretty disappointed by that.EDIT: The seller contacted me and arranged to send the right cover for my Kindle. It works perfectly! I hope they get new designs in. These are great! I'm changing my review to five stars. Good customer service!!

I like the cover. But it's not as advertised, in that the wake/sleep feature that's supposed to work on opening or closing doesn't. Well... a couple of times, I've been able to move the cover around shift it, until I see the light go out. (You can see a slim bit of light - like the light under a doorway - when it's still on and the cover is closed.)So you have to push the button on the Kindle; not the end of the world, but not what it's supposed to do.I think it will help protect the device... some. Especially when it's closed up (magnets help hold it closed) I think it would be more "survivable" if it were knocked out of my hand (happened once already, but on a carpet) or if it slips out of your hand when you doze off... (happens more than I'd like to admit.)It is, of course, heavier than the device alone. Just guessin' but I'd say it feels twice as heavy. Maybe more. It's the price of protection.

Easy assembly. Snaps right in and stays locked in even tossing it around a bit. Solid in all the right places with the skin feeling smooth and flat leathery not like a couch textured leather. Very good case. It feels protected without being obtuse and in the way

Have the crane design which I find lightweight and somewhat elegant. On 2 previous kindles I had Oberón design cases which are pricy but I love the feel,design, look, and how it ages so beautifully. This was a rush replacement, and I chose this as an inexpensive and temporary case whilst I am traveling. I still may get my Oberón, but at this point am not in a rush. I’ll have to see how well it holds up since it is not leather

Edited to add that the cover scratches very very easily. I’ll add a pic.The cover is not as padded as the Finte cover, which I am unsure if that’s good or bad. Cover fits well. The rounded edges are really nice and covered in a rubbery type stuff. The attention to detail is nice. The rubbery type stuff is a bit rough on the inside edge. The inside cover is very soft. The picture out on the outside very nice. I got the moon girl one, which is spelled moon gril on the description. Overall, a nice case. I’ll update if anything changes.

This is a great case for my oasis. I have been using it for a month and it doesn’t look a day older than the moment I got it. The colors are bright enough so I can easily spot it across the room if I misplaced it. The cover is sturdy and has survived several trips in my car, my purse, and briefly, my children’s hands. For an adult reader who appreciates art, it is a worthy choice and the price is excellent for what you get.
